At that time while Lisa had been laying on the bed contently, feeling like a satisfied cat, heard him and it was like something had been lit in her. she started trying to get out of his embrace. Maybe she had forgotten but was this not just looking for ways to get hurt after getting done with him, could she even afford to love him again, or was it that she had never stopped loving him, instead, his feelings had just burrowed skin deep and if she was not careful, she would end up with her heart broken more than ever. She could not stand it.
Trying even more frantically to leave she hissed to Omar. ‘Please let me go, Omar.’
‘No Lisa please tell me you forgive me. I’m sorry Lisa, I swear I didn’t want to do it. I had already stopped the plans of revenge when I met you. I loved you too much. Please believe me. Please don’t go.’
‘Can you even hear yourself, Omar? Okay, I forgive you, but that does not mean that we should be together. Besides today, let’s just say it was a lapse of judgment. This should not happen again Omar.’ He felt like a bucket of ice had just been dumped on his head. His joy at having had her also disappeared quickly leaving him feeling empty and alone.
When Lisa came back from the bathroom, it was to find him looking like a lost person. He excluded such a strong odor of loneliness that her heart ached. Why did he seem so aloof and alone? Didn’t he have a family? Strongly snubbing off every feeling of desire to comfort him, she moved to pick her dresses, otherwise, she would find herself tempted enough to allow him to seduce her again into loving him. Everything is damned, she knew that her heart already belonged to her. that had always been how it worked. She loved him way too much; she did not even know how she would survive until the six months were over.
It was already so early yet her anger towards him had already evaporated to near nothing. He struck a chord in her heart and even now, she still could not believe that Omar could be as cold-hearted as he had been. Shaking her head. She moved to the kitchen but just before she could leave, he grabbed her hand. ‘Please let me make you breakfast, don’t go on a hungry stomach.’
‘No Omar, you shouldn’t trouble yourself. Besides, I’ll get some food when I get at work.’
‘Please let me, Lisa please I beg you.’
‘Okay, but only if I help. I don’t want to feel indebted to you.’
‘Okay,’ Omar said while the smile he shot at her was as brilliant as the sun. goodness, what had ever happened with her lover? When had he become so insecure and lost confidence? It hurt her to see him lower his head so much when he was such a proud man to start with. She ached to hug him and tell him that it was okay, yet she could not afford to. Because somehow, she sensed the moment she let go of that flimsy barrier that she had set up, she would be too gone to go back. She would only love him in her entire life and she knew it.
Taking a deep breath, she followed him into the kitchen where they quickly made breakfast. The easy camaraderie making them seem like an old couple. Afterward, they sat in the dining room and ate, or rather Lisa ate. On the other hand, Omar seemed to just watch her, while toying with his breakfast. It felt like he had gotten a little leeway with her now that she had at least accepted to eat his breakfast. Watching her there, he finally realized with a finality that he was never letting her go. She was going to be his forever, come what may.
Scrapping her seat backward, she wiped her lips and then walked away. ‘Thanks for the breakfast, Omar.’
‘You are welcome. Anytime.’ While it may not have been all a win, it was a start. He would never give up. Today he had to go to the office to finally conclude the matter regarding Mr. Qin and then hopefully be at Lisa’s place in time to get her.
On the other hand, Lisa moved while still thinking of Omar in her head. He was so gentle that the wall she had set up in her heart was slowly chipping. She wanted to lie to herself that she did not feel anything for him but it was as if her heart only loved him. She loved him with all her heart. Sigh, would they ever be okay, or was she expecting too much, and would the expectations and hope that came with all this leave her at a worse place?
