Chapter 31: Chapter 31
“Of course, not Lisa, everything is okay with Marya, I was just worried when you didn't come back nor take the call.”
“Oh, okay, what time is it?”
“It's nearly nine o'clock in the evening. Do you want me to stay over so that I watch over her while you rest?”
“No, dad. I don't think I can sleep without knowledge of how she is doing. I'll be there just give me a few minutes to sort things out.”
“Great you will find me there. I've already sent Lexi home.”
“Thank you, papa, I love you.” She whispered as she terminated the call.
Moving down the stairs, she met with Omar's eyes which were fixated on her. She felt her hands start sweating because she just didn't know how to explain things. You can't show fear or anything else' she whispered to herself before she finally stepped into the sitting room. It was then she realized that Omar had ordered them food.
“Are you going somewhere?”
“Yes, I am and I'm sorry. There's an emergency that I need to attend to.”
“I mean at this hour? What could be so important? Remember we promised to be faithful while we are together?”
“Ha-ha Omar, I know that very well, I was the one who suggested it.”
“So, at what time should I expect you.”
“About that, there's a possibility I won't be back tonight.”
“Oh, okay then just make sure you are at my office tomorrow by ten in the morning.”
“Great...I'm sorry about all this.” Lisa said as she moved downstairs at a quick speed, her heart beating in a furious crescendo.
On the other hand, Omar couldn't help but wonder what Lisa was doing that would make her go out at night. his hands itched to just follow her and know what she really was hiding but he stopped himself. To each their own. He said to himself as he dropped the piece of pizza he was taking as his appetite disappeared completely at that moment. He tried to convince himself that this marriage was only for the sake of showing off before Mr. Qin, yet he knew deep down that it wasn't. He ached for Lisa. She was all he could think about even when he had wronged her. More than anything he knew that he had no claim to her and she was okay to hate him. Even he hated himself.

In a certain place, Lucas sat down while whispering to himself. It was all her fault otherwise he would not be here, surrounded by crazy people and tall walls that seemed to be closing in on him. His mind was okay, and he was going to show it because he would get out. But oh boy, she and Omar would pay for placing him here. He knew the drill. The more you shouted and acted abnormal, the more likely for you never to get out. This was because they filled your body with drugs that made you sleepy half of the time and incoherent.
But not him, no he had learned that once you showed normal behavior, they left you alone. It was only a short while and then he would be released. He would make sure that Lisa paid for his stay there. If it wasn't for her, his brother would not have betrayed him. They would now be living like a happy family. Even though Omar had not visited him often, his mother and sister had. Now, he just had to convince them that he was normal. And he should be released from that damning prison. Staying there had felt like hell.
Now, a nurse had come to call him as his mother had visited. Walking out, he saw her seating out in the garden. He always loved his mother. She was above everything he had ever experienced. She was warm and caring. Getting there, he hugged her before seating her down.
“How have you been mum? I have missed you so much.”
“Ha-ha ... aren't I here now. Tell me what's new.”
“Nothing much here really. So, what did you bring me today? You know I'm always anticipating your meals.”
“You sweet-tongued brat. Of course, I had to prepare you something otherwise you would eat me alive.”
“Ha-ha ...that’s my mom. So, how is Omar.” He said as his hand behind him curled into a painful form. While his face showed nothing of what he was feeling. He had left him here to rot. But that wasn't what should have happened.
“Oh, your brother is doing okay, though I don't understand why he has refused to date and get married. It's already been five years. Anyway, let's not focus on him. Today I came here specifically for you. How are you doing.”
“I'm doing well mom, actually mom, I was wondering when I could move out of this place since I am now well. It’s quite too much having to stay with crazy people when you are not crazy. It drives me mad.”
“I'm sorry you had to go through all this Lucas. However, you cannot hate Omar. He was only doing this for your own good.”
Mh my own good or his own, Lucas thought in his mind. The pressing thing however was to get his mom to help me get out of the hospital. “Mom, I do not hate Omar. He is my only brother how could I? I just really wish to move from here and just be reunited with my family. And I'm really sorry for all the trouble I brought to your family.”
“It's okay, there really is nothing to be sorry about. She said as she hugged him close to her bosom. I'll see what I can do about your release. I think I should call Omar first and inform him.”
At that, Lucas showed a panicked face. “No, I mean mom, I was kind of thinking of surprising him at home.”
Worry gnawed at her heart but she quickly got rid of it. It was time her family became complete. “Okay then let’s eat before the food grows cold.”
“Ha-ha, mom always knows best.”
Standing, she walked to the doctor's office. There would be a few tests done before releasing him and then he would be free to go home. So that day was spent on preparation to go home for Lucas. Oblivious to the devil lurking around, Omar went on with his life as he would normally
