Chapter 3: Chapter 3

The words seemed to be going through her head or surrounding and suffocating her. this was not what she wanted to hear, yet they did not want to let her pass. Suddenly they were moving rushing further to the hospital and she could not help but dash madly amidst blinding tears to her car. Looking back, she could see the reporters surrounding him. The bastard, she thought in her head. In a rush of anger, she revved her car from there driving blindly through the town. She needed to be somewhere different.

Somehow, she had managed to go to her favorite park without stopping the car and breaking down. Parking just along, she moved along slowly through the park. She moved along to the furthest bench which had very few people. Sitting there, she relaxed her mind and just stopped thinking. Taking a sip of water, she relaxed her back, rolling her hands along her temples, she could feel the migraine that had threatened to envelope her completely start to recede.

Sitting there, she finally came to realize that there were kids playing around looking very happy, and then she thought of her own childhood. Had she ever been that happy, she could feel herself think somewhat fleetingly. Thinking back, it had not always been as bad, apart from when her mom was the wicked witch of the west. Her dad on the other hand had been there. He had taken her to the amusement parks. Even during her prom night, when her date had come for her, she had seen the glimmer of pride that shone through her eyes.

Within a few minutes, the black thoughts had evaporated replaced by glad moments. That was until she had realized that it was already darkening, and a few mosquitoes were hovering over her threateningly. Her mind still could not fathom the way forward but so what. She would survive, she could maybe reinvest the little amount they had in the bank. They could start all over, she knew they could if they wanted. She was not going to sit down mope around as though Omar had somehow incarcerated her. no, she was stronger than this.

Feeling the burgeoning feelings of hope within her, she moved with a new found purpose. She knew over in her heart. She could be stronger than all this, no rather she could not afford to be weak. She had fallen down, but she could still rise. Reaching her car, she could feel herself taking a clearer breath and looking at her phone, she could see the missed calls from the only person that had cared since all this downfall had started. Sasha Alex, who was a tomboy kind of girl.

She may have looked rugged on the outside but on the inside, she was the most beautiful soul. She knew that she should have returned her calls because she would be worried but she had just not had the strength to do so. Decidedly, she would phone her once she got inside the house, at the very least, she would be more composed. And so, with her new found hope, she started the engine and drove through the traffic in the place slowly.

Getting into the luxurious mansion that housed their home, and where most of her memories had been made, she was struck by the immense silence that occupied it. Just a week ago, it had been the picture of liveliness, with workers strumming along past each other. Now, there were none, it was just her dad and her. walking up the stairs, she got to her room where she quickly warmed the water in the bath, and settled in. the bath tub housed her perfectly and as the warm water worked on her sore shoulder blades, she could feel herself getting drowsy.

So, she stayed there, just enjoying the water and savoring the feeling. There was nothing like a good warm dip in the water, every muscle just relaxed and she feel fresher. It was nearly an hour after, when the water had long grown cold and her skin was starting to get wrinkly that she stepped out, rubbing a warm fluffy robe around herself. At that moment, she felt lightheaded and dismissed it as tiredness or just maybe being hungry.

Settled in well, with a plate of dessert in her hands she finally called Alex, whose loud yelling had her pulling her phone from her ear.

“You seriously only calling me now b***h, huh. I’ve been calling your ass for the last I don’t know fourteen hours. What the hell do you think you are doing”.

Yeah, that was her friend, you did not want to mess with her at any point because she could shoot arrows or even bullets with just one statement.

‘Whoa, whoa, cool down baby girl. I’m sorry for the silence but now here I am.’

“So why weren’t you picking my calls?”

“I just didn’t realize you had called until later today. I’m sorry for that love, please forgive me. It’s just that things have been happening around here too fast.”

At that statement, she could feel herself starting to smart. Maybe it was the way her friend kept silent for a few moments before talking back. Or maybe it was because she wanted her friend with her.

“Oh baby, how are holding up.’

It was this statement that finally had her finally breaking down totally. It started slowly but now; it was like a falling avalanche that could not be stopped. The tears flowed down while snort covered her nose such that she could not even breath. She wanted to cry loudly and seriously. She felt seriously grieved. She had thought she was strong, heck she wanted to be strong, but it was proving to be even harder.
