Chapter 99: Chapter 99

Chapter 101 Worried Alex

Worried that she would hurt herself, Elly wanted to stop but it was too late. She was not able to stop herself. Elly quickly pulled out the needle from her hands and pulled the tube connected to the IV fluid. She fell to the floor.

Blood gushed from under her white fingers and Elly shouted in pain.

A look of fear flashed across Alex' face as he saw what happened to Elly.

"Emergency!" Alex shouted angrily and rang the alarm for the nurse.

Elly tilted her head and stranded of hair covered her burning cheeks. She slowly turned her head.

Alex knelt on one knee at the side of the bed, he gently touched her face with his big hand and said to her softly. "Don't you dare to hurt yourself again. I will not allow it."

Her mouth could not make a sound because her chin was clamped on both sides. Alex saw hatred suddenly aroused on her eyes. Elly bravely punched him in the eyes.

"What's going on? Why did you let the patient move?" Two nurses ran inside the room and screamed in horror.

Alex stood aside and allowed the nurses to do their job.

Elly lay in bed. The nurses dressed her hands and inserted another IV fluid. She never looked at him again. Alex watched as the nurses took care of her and he became rational. He knew that she will be more disgusted with him if he were to stay in this room.

After a moment of hesitation, Alex decided to leave the room.

As she watched the door close, Elly clenched her lower lips. She tried so hard to restrain tears as she felt sadness inside her heart.

Her mind told her that she did not really hate him, but her old self knew that in her hidden memoirs with Alex, there was estrangement between them.

There was also the undeniable reality that Emily was her sister and she was a member of the Russel family. Also, the bankruptcy of their company was related to Alex. Elly was slowly losing her sanity. She did not have any idea how she would solve all of these problems.

Besides, no matter what, your family would always remain your family even though they were not what you hoped for.

Elly closed her eyes. Tears fell down her eyes as she thought of Alex and how he took care of her.

Elly thought that Alex genuinely liked her but unfortunately, she was wrong.

'You used me to attack Emily, didn't you? Wasn't that right, Alex?' Elly was deep in her thoughts.

Elly kept on thinking about her current situation.

Just then, a sound was heard outside the door and the door was pushed open. Elly kept her eyes closed even though she heard footsteps as it came towards her, what she wanted was to drive people away. Elly turned her face to the other side. She did not want someone to see her tears and discover what she was going through.

"I already told you to leave me alone! Get out!" Elly shouted.

In the stillness of the room a soft voice was heard.

"Mom."

The voice was too weak, it was as if the person who spoke the words was afraid of being hated. Elly hurriedly opened her eyes and her heart instantly softened.

It was Kitten.

"Why were you here? Who took you to the hospital?" Elly asked.

"Housekeeper Geno brought me here." Kitten said.

Tears streamed down Kitten's face. He choked up and cried, "Why won't come home? I thought you're going to leave me again." Kitten pleaded her earnestly not to go away.

The suffering of Kitten made Elly burst into tears. Elly knew that Kitten was just a child and the pain of losing a mother will upset her very much.

Elly felt guilty. She sat up and broke the tube connected to the IV fluid. She pulled out the needle without authorization, and pressed the needle mark for several seconds and that action stopped the bleeding.

Elly smiled and called for Kitten.

When Kitten climbed onto the bed, she hugged her in her arms. She smelled the child and Kitten smelled like baby's milk.

"Mom won't leave you, I won't leave you." Elly gently coaxed her.

"Mom, don't lie to me." Kitten cried very hard. "Promise me you won't abandon me, Mom. I want you to be with me, always." Elly felt miserable after she heard the mistrust on Kitten's voice. She kissed her forehead and comforted her. "I'm sorry I haven't been with you all these years. I promise I'll make up for the time we haven't spent together."

Kitten was a child under the age of four. Elly knew she could not understand the current situation and only spoke what she wanted.

"Okay, will you stop being mad at dad? Don't throw my dad away, please? Elly hugged him. "My father was very sad when he discovered that you were ill."

"How did you know that he was sad? Elly did not notice that her voice was full of irony. "Your father didn't care about me as much as you think. Stop saying those things!"

"No, no!" He shook his head and whispered softly. "Dad cared about you and loved you very much! Housekeeper Geno took me to the hospital when you were still at the door of the ward. Housekeeper Geno said that Dad was extremely worried about your health and he looked very sad."

Elly was startled. Even though she drove Alex away, he was still waiting outside to take care of her.

Elly's heart trembled involuntarily but reason forced her to stay awake and not be swayed with emotions.

Kitten was a child smarter than his age. She knew that in her heart, she had not forgiven Alex, yet. So if he wanted to be forgiven, he would have to keep on trying. "Dad didn't sleep last night and waited for you all night. I've been to the bathroom several times and I've seen Dad. He was still waiting. We both love you very much, mom!"

Her mood improved greatly by the Kitten's love although, she automatically screened out the relevant parts that were spent together with Alex. She only listened to the stories told by Kitten.

"Baby, do you love me?"

"Yes, you are the best mom in the world!"

"Do you want to live with me?" She asked. She felt expectant and nervous at the same time.

Kitten answered without thinking. "Yes, mom."

As soon as Elly heard his answer, a smile formed on her face and her eyes was filled with joy.

Unfortunately, her smile wavered after she heard the next words uttered by Kitten.

"Dad and I always wanted to live with you together as a family. I want the three of us to be together always, just like the family of my classmates.

She could not explain herself to the Kitten. She wanted to say that she grew up without a father, but she would not be able to break the expectations of this child.

As she thought about this, Elly suddenly realized a cruel reality. Alex took care of Kitten since birth. He always had a father by his side.

'You're not eligible for custody. Even if you are the mother, you are still not qualified' Elly silently thought.

"So, what if one day I won't be able live with you?" She asked anxiously. She feared Kitten's answer.

Children were simple-minded and not as complicated as adults. 'Why can't every child live with their mother and be happy?' Elly thought.

"Mom, I promise I'll live with you. I want you to be with me. I don't want you to leave." Kitten became more and more excited as he spoke. He shook his head and clasped Elly's neck tightly. The child was afraid that she would leave him again.

In the face of Kitten's "clingy" behavior, Elly was not able to resist and she quickly agreed for the time being. "Yes, Mom agrees, you are a good boy."

Kitten tilted his head and felt doubtful but he just hugged her happily.

Subsequently, housekeeper Geno was sent to the hospital every day to overlook Elly's health.

She refused to see Alex, so he no longer went into the ward.

Alex stood on the other side of the door. 'That person betrayed my father,' Elly thought.

For the safety of Elly, Alex sent bodyguards. They were specifically instructed to guard the hospital hall.

With such persistent concern and silent protection, it was really difficult to hook up Alex with the man with Emily, this made her miserable.

When Elly recovered and was ready to leave the hospital, Emily sent a text message.

"How are you? Dad was happy to see me when he knew I was still alive. He specially cooked my favorite dish. Go home and have dinner with us, sister." Emily said.

In Elly's memory, there were no parents or family members. She did not have a good impression of Mr. Russel. Didn't Mr. Russel knew that his youngest daughter was not dead?

After much thought, she decided to come at Mr. Russel's invitation.

Elly skillfully avoided the eyes and ears of her bodyguards. She didn't want Alex' people to know that she was noble. The relationship between the two families was not good in the first place.

Two hours later, Alex received a call from the hospital.

Alex didn't mind when he struck down the table and yelled at the phone during an important meeting. The bodyguards he hired were not even able to take care of a patient, they were useless!

Everyone in the conference room was shocked by Alex' anger. He was cold, unapproachable, bossy and ferocious but he had never lost his cool as he did now.

Alex turned off the phone, ferocious eagle eyes scanned the room. Then he left to check the whereabouts of Elly.

The person being tracked now sat inside Emily's car.

The DNA test report proved their sisterhood but Elly kept on asking. Was it because of her that Mr. Russel hated the Hagreaves brothers and sisters?

"After we got out of the car, you would have to call our father. Dad will cry when you call yourself exotic." Emily reprimanded with a smile. "The family objected my marriage with Alex. I got married secretly. People thought he was still nice to me, so he was no longer fierce. Our father thought that Alex would kill me until I heard that I had died in a traffic accident."

"Miss Russel, Dad now knew that I'm not dead. Does he still hate Alex?" Elly asked hesitantly.

"Say your family name confidently, you did not have to be confused." Emily stared, pretended to be angry and then sighed. "Was there any difference? Haven't you been deceived by Alex? He had our company go bankrupt. Our father would never forgive him in this life.

Emily's words silenced Elly. It turned out that her mind was simply absurd.

The car slowly stopped at the door of their family home and Emily laughed mockingly and pointed at the dirty words painted with red on the door.

"The creditors urged us to use this insult to pay our debts. It would not be easy for you to hate his guts."
