Chapter 83: Chapter 83

Chapter 85 Denial

"Is that important?" Elly suspected that Alex hangs up the phone to avoid her from asking again.

What kind of mystery was that? Elly clenched the phone tightly and wiped her tears with her hand. She wouldn't admit that when Alex realized that she was crying through her tone of voice, her stupid heart was pounding furiously in her chest.

She leaned against the corridor wall near John's room and sincerely stayed in the hospital, waiting for him to come.

In the ward, looking at his arm wrapped in bandage, Sarah Olsen glared at him and disgruntled , "WOW! You are really crazy! You blocked the knife and protected her with your life?"

"Sarah!" John interrupt her and looked at Sarah Olsen warningly.

"Stay out of it! I know what I'm doing."

Sarah Olsen's eyes was burning with anger, and she suddenly pinched the arm that had just undergone the operation without touching the wound; that action made John cried out in pain, "What are you doing? It Hurts!"

Sarah Olsen let go of his hand and stood up. "You are willing to take a knife for her, yet this little amount of pain is making you cry." She looked at John, her voice became louder.

"She has her own mind and can take care of herself. You will die protecting her sooner or later."

Sarah Olsen was very upset when she saw John's injury, so her attitude towards Elly also became fierce.

John did not take her words to heart and said carelessly, "I have no problem about dying at her hands."

Seeing infatuation burn like fire in John's eyes, Sarah Olsen's throat became dry and she hoarsely asked "So, when will you be as nice to me as you are to Elly?"

"Am I not nice to you?" John still asked but he knew that what Sarah Olsen said is true; he wasn't really that good to her as what he claimed to be.

Sarah Olsen did not answer. She just turned on the other side and looked out of the window; her eyes filled with tears. It was nearly a minute before she turned around again and wiped her eyes clean.

"I have some good news to share with you", Sarah Olsen started while there was a fake smile planted on her lips.

"My parents heard that you were injured and worried that you would not recover on time, so they agreed to postpone the engagement party two months later."

"We have two months left?" John heard to the news and looked at her with a gentle smile.

'Would it be fate?'

"We still have two months to clarify our relationship, dispel the misunderstandings and convince our families that we're really not good together. Are you not pleased?"

"Of course, I'm happy. As you wish, we have two months to end this misunderstanding." Sarah Olsen stared at John's eyes until the eyelids could no longer bear and then tears ran down to her cheeks; she left the room quickly.

Sarah Olsen's attitude was too obvious, and John understood that she didn't want to end their engagement.

He knew that Sarah Olsen's feelings for him were changing. It was unreciprocated love, he has experienced the same pain as her. He knew so well that he needed to forced himself to be cruel to her.

Only the sooner it ends, the lesser the damage will be. As he watched Sarah Olsen's body disappeared behind the door, John murmured a sigh. 'When people are alive, they will hurt others whether it was unintentional or intentional; as a result, no one is immune.'

At the same time, Alex's car arrived at the hospital; he parked the car at the front and ignored the call of the security guard then hurried inside.

In the clean corridor, with only a few patients, seated on a plastic chair, he saw Elly leaning against the wall alone.

When he saw her tired face, the first thing Alex said was. "Is there something wrong with your ex-boyfriend?"

Elly remained motionless and blinked. "What are you saying?"

"I said, is there something wrong with John?" Alex came closer and stood face to face with her.

"If you're just here to talk about crap, you can go." Elly was so disappointed that she found that he was teasing her. "You are not a person who is used to speaking ill of others, and don't get back at me for not being with you before. Your actions and words now make me want to hate you."

Watching her turned around helplessly, Alex grabbed her arm directly. "I don't mean to get back at you for going out with him."

Her reflex kicked in and she elbowed him fiercely. Alex groaned in pain and just stared at her.

When she heard him cried out in pain, she turned around in panic and tried to touch his chest but she realized something and hesitated. Alex took advantage of her flaw; he grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer to him. "There's something wrong with John. It's dangerous for you to be with him. Don't you think it is very suspicious for him to show up in that place at the crucial time?"

"I don't want to hear it." Elly felt infuriated and pushed him away forcefully. But Alex's body was originally tall and strong, she seemed to lost her mind if she thought she could push him away.

"Don't open your mouth if you'll only slander other people. Leave now! I don't trust you"

Alex reached out to grab her, but in the end she clenched her fist and frowned.

"You are stupid!"

Elly glared at him. "You have no proof, why should I trust you? If John really has a problem, why is he willing to protect me from getting hurt?"

"It was just a show to win your trust." Alex was impatient, but he was startled by Elly's disappointed eyes.

In a trembling voice, she asked: "Have you ever seen anyone give up an arm in order to win the trust of others?" Tears rolled down her cheeks and slid down on Elly's neck. "Because of what he did to protect me, John can never pick up the scalpel again."

What she said was the truth, so Elly's emotions became out of control and she hit Alex crazily and burst into tears.

"Do you know how terrible it is for a surgeon to lose his ability to pick up a scalpel for the rest of his life? It's cruel of you to accuse John! Tell me what's the problem! Do you expect me to believe you?"

With both hands on Alex's chest, Elly bowed her head and her body seemed to have lost all its strength. There was no longer sound of crying, only the trembling of her body was visible to know that she was still crying. "You're discrediting John's sacrifice."

Alex was surprised by what he heard from Elly's mouth. His subordinates only reported that John was seriously injured and there was no news of him missing an arm.

Complex emotions showed on his eyes when he looked at the woman bowed her head in front of him, her hand unconsciously clenched; He felt his body trembled when he heard the cold voice came in front of him.

"Bastard!"

Elly looked up, hatred and anger evident on her face.

"Leave me alone!"

Just as he looked seriously into her eyes, Elly pulled her hand hard; she turned around and left.

Before the investigation, Alex knew that Elly would not believe him. He then walked after her.

"John, I will reveal your true face. You will regret deceiving Elly."

When he saw a message came on his phone, Alex opened it and saw several photos.

The more he looked, the more dangerous his eyes became; his expression became murderous.

"Emily and John, you guys are amazing." Alex murmured.

The photos captured the contact between the two people, they made appointments to meet outside several times.

A phone call from his subordinate interrupted Alex's angry thought.

"Master Alex, the crazy woman has been found. Do you want to interrogated her in person or have us bring her to the police station?" the voice from the other line said.

"Go bring her to the police station. I'll be right there." Alex made his way out of the hospital and drove his car.

In the interrogation room of the police station, Alex walked in with his body guards and looked at the crazy woman in front of him. He frowned and asked, "Do you know me?"

"Alex! You're here!" The woman giggled, raised her wrists that was chained on the wall; she said coquettishly, "Alex, help me take it off. They tied me up, it hurts."

Alex frowned and looked at the captain for confirmation. "I've never seen this woman before. I don't know her."

The captain was a familiar person to Alex, he trusted him completely and let him handled the interrogation.

"What is your relationship with him?"

"We were husband and wife, and Kitten is my son. He left me at home alone. I'm sorry." The woman was starting to talk nonsense.

"Does this woman has any mental problems? Was she that crazy when you caught her?"

"Yes, sir. She bit us and acted wildly."

After the two exchanged words, the policemen scheduled to call a psychiatrist to examine her. Alex watched her turned around and a sharp flash caught his eyes.

Alex came to a simple conclusion. "This lady was ridiculous, pretending to be stupid to evade criminal responsibility. You need to be more observant to find the truth."

The sheriff understood what he meant and nodded without hesitation.

"Don't worry, I'll give you an update in a short time."

"Sorry, that I have to trouble you with this matter."

Alex left the police station and returned to the hospital again. He knew he was in too much of a hurry to come to her without any proof.

"The important thing is that you worry about her safety." He muttered.

Outside the ward, Alex looked through the glass window beside the door. Elly took good care of John, which made him upset. He clenched his fist and raised his chin before turning around quickly; he feared that he could not control it and would rushed into the room and dragged Elly away.

Elly walked out of the room with a food tray in her hand and saw Alex standing outside waiting. Her face sank.

"Why are you still here? What do you want to say? Continue to doubt John and I will not talk to you anymore."

"I'm sorry, my previous behavior was so reckless that it upset you."

"You should apologize to John. You insulted his dignity because your accusation is not true." Elly did not let him finish his speech, she hurriedly went to the trash bin and put the plastic tray in her hand.

Alex followed her and said, "When you're done, I will show you something on my phone."

"The man in the photo was John, and the opposite was Emily."

"It is not baseless for me to say that there is something wrong with John. This picture was taken two days ago. John is obviously aware of Emily's hatred towards you, but he still had dinner with Emily." Alex spoke quickly and carefully observed her expression. "Don't you think that's a problem?"

The photos on the phone screen made Elly's hand trembled, and she tightly held Alex's mobile phone. The photos were taken clearly and the friendly atmosphere in the photos fully reflects that the two are very familiar with each other.

Elly closed her eyes and tried to calm her heart; his revelation brought a huge storm of emotion on her.

"No, no! I believe in him."

She looked up and her eyes were red. "I'm begging you, what's important to me now is that he would still be able to hold a scalpel in his hand and fulfill his profession as a surgeon. Will you stop targeting him, please?"
