Chapter 82: Chapter 82
Chapter 84: Do not hold a scalpel
Alex 's face darkened after his anger subsided. He connected the headphones to a person and gave commands.
"Check the cameras around the area to see if there's anything suspicious."
"Yes, boss."
"Check the recent activities of Elly and John."
Alex didn't believe in John, his appearance was too coincidental, and the timing was just right.
According to the driver's report, the incident happened suddenly, and the driver called him immediately right after he escaped. So how did John know the place and time she had arrived, and timely help Elly?
There was a lot of questions, and Alex was forced to suspect, which was the key to finding the woman.
Considering that Elizabeth's recent actions are too gentle; intuition told him that this is not a good thing.
"Elizabeth, you think I will let you get away from this?" In a cold voice with a ferocious breath, Alex stepped on the throttle to pull the rickshaw faster.
In the hospital, the light in the operating room finally went out. Elly stood up anxiously and hurriedly asked the doctor.
"Doctor, how's my friend? Will the wound in his arm affect his future endeavor?"
The doctor sighed, looked carefully at the operating room and nodded to Elly. "Your friend is moving back to his room. Let's go and talk."
The doctor's attitude suffocated Elly and had a bad feeling. She walked nervously with the doctor into the sparsely populated corridor, whose solemn expression made her nervous.
"Doctor, please tell me what happened to his arm?"
The doctor saw the anxiety on her face and was surprised to see her concern. John is my college classmate. I know he used to work in the downtown hospital. So, I want to talk to you about it so that everyone can be prepared. The wound in his arm was so deep that it affected the nerves in his arm. I'm afraid he'll never get to hold a scalpel again.
Elly was wriggling. She had to lean against the wall to stand firm. With what the doctors said, there were like thousands of bees buzzing in her ears, dug out her brain and let her emotions get out of control.
For a surgeon, if he can't pick up a scalpel and operate, this will make his death more cruel.
Tears could not help but flow on her face. Elly covered her mouth to prevent herself from sobbing. Her body fell off the floor.
The drooping hair covered her shoulders and trembled with heartache.
The doctor sighed, sat next to her and patted her on the back to comfort her. "Don't be pessimistic. His hand is unable to recover at this time, but there are many miracles in medicine and it is becoming more and more advanced. The family can consider going abroad for treatment for a period of time. Hope to recover is not without faith."
"Can you recover?" Elly looked up at the doctor with tears in her eyes, and the expectation in her poor eyes softened the doctor's heart. "How long will it take him to get the scalpel back?"
The doctor sympathized with the patient's family, but didn't want to lie. "Pediatrics cannot predict that the healing time will be different if it is treated early, properly, or if each person has a different place of rehabilitation. I'm not 100% sure about picking up the scalpel, but there's nothing wrong with daily life."
The expectation in Elly's eyes rose as the slow voice of the doctor reached her ears.
"It's very important for a doctor and I think he will be shocked by the news. You and your family should choose some suggestions so as not to affect the patient's psychology. "
The doctor gave the result to Elly and left with a quiet sigh.
At the corridor, several nurses walked back and forth, and Elly felt lonely and helpless. "If time comes back, I'd rather let myself get hurt than let you protect me with your hands."
She muttered to herself in tears, and then laughed at herself. "You know, I never stand idly by when you are in danger."
Elly stood at the door of John's room for a long time, but she didn't have the courage to push the door open. She cleaned her face and wiped her tears, but she had not yet arranged to tell John in any words.
The door suddenly opened, and John went outside and looked around. When he saw her, he smiled gently. "Why don't you go inside my room?
His warm smile sobered Elly. She quickly stepped forward to hold his hand and helped him get back to bed with her strength. "You just finished with the operation, and the wound is still very fresh. Why did you go out? What are we going to do if it got infected?"
"It's just a small wound. Give me a thread and a needle, and I can solve it by himself." When John saw her making a fuss and shutting down the problem, he cracked a joke that he raised his arm and proudly stretched it to her.
"Mr. Elliot, your arm is hurt, not your leg. You act like a beggar asking for a penny.
Elly became even sadder as she watched him pull a joke, she put the pain in it and adjusted her face to become ferocious. "Will you sit on the bed now? Why are you talking so much?"
John was amused by her rare tone, and he smiled silently.
His smile pierced her heart like a knife. Elly dared not say bad news, and his eyes sparkled.
John was surprised by her evasive behavior, who always knew that she was not a good liar. John tried to hold her hand, but Elly didn't pull it back to make him happy. His voice showed so many years of concern.
"John, what's the matter with you? What's wrong with you? Are you still scared?"
Elly sat in a plastic chair beside the hospital bed, watched him hold her hand tightly, she suddenly realized that there had been no such intimate atmosphere between them.
"I still shudder when I think of your bloody arm. John, I'm so scared."
"It's just blood, don't be afraid. I am a man who wouldn't die after losing any blood." John got Elly's attention and touched her hair sheepishly.
"Stop talking nonsense!" Elly roared. Her lungs were out of breath and she felt that the oxygen in her chest does not flow, which caused chest pain.
John 's face was brimming with a happy smile, and he gently squeezed her hand. "Elly, I want to eat apples. My hand hurts and I can't peel the apple myself. I haven't eaten peeled apple for a long time."
"If you really want to eat, then I will peel apples for you." Elly picked up her wallet and stood up. "I will go to the hospital gate to look for a fruit stand."
John smiled and said that it was not the apple, but Elly's heart. What he wanted was her heart.
Elly came out and the door opened and hit her in the face. Sarah Olsen rushed into the room and bumped into her, with eyes full of surprise. "Elly, is that you?"
After asking, Sarah Olsen did not look at Elly and hurried to the bedside with tears in her eyes and looked at John's bandaged arm.
"What causes it? Why are you so stupid? If the dagger pierced the chest, would you rush out to stop it?"
"How did you know I was hurt?": John twitched his arm to avoid the touch of Sarah Olsen. He doesn't want Elly to see them in an intimate manner.
The person who informed her was Elly. "I called your mom. I shouldn't have kept this from you."
"Where's my mom? Why are you the only one? Mrs. Elliot is a bad-tempered person. She must be the first one to scold me."
Sarah Olsen threw an unpleasant look at Elly, and then quickly put down her hidden gaze. She whispered. "The doctor said that you were injured and her blood pressure soared dangerously, and her personal doctor didn't let her out of bed."
Elly also knew about Ms. Elliot's hypertension, and Elly felt guilty that she called her. "I didn't think it would make her blood pressure. I'm sorry, I shouldn't have told her, I should have asked you first."
"Elly, it's not your fault." John interrupted her and looked at Sarah Olsen unhappy. "Elly kindly told my mother and she meant no harm. Don't get her wrong. On the contrary, Sarah, it is impolite of you to enter the room without knocking, banging the door against Elly and not saying hello to her."
Sarah Olsen looked at Elly and suddenly felt jealous because the latter has John's attention. "He is too blind to realize that what you did was rude because he is too worried about his wound."
Elly was puzzled in her defense. She saw the sad and dark eyes of Sarah Olsen that she tried to hide from her grin, so she understood where the woman is coming from. "Don't say that. I will go out so you two could talk."
Instead of letting John say anything, she walked quickly to the door and closed it with the picture of two sitting next to each other.
With her back leaned to the door, her breath was still repressed in her chest, choked by exhalation. The appearance of Sarah Olsen saved her and gave her time to leave John.
The more she was by his side and accepted his gentle words and actions, she was afraid and she could not help but cry. The pain in Elly's heart could not be relieved with the thought of his injured arm and the consequences it would cause.
She was afraid that John would soon find out what she was hiding. With tears on her face, she went to buy apples that John requested, then suddenly the phone rang in her pocket.
Upon looking at the caller on the screen, Elly took a deep breath in her throat, so that the sound would not be so unusual.
"Where are you?" The male voice hoarsely yelled at her through the phone, and the nameless shock broke out in Elly's heart, making her silent.
"Answer me! Where are you?"
"Outside." Elly watched the door close and stopped to speak out. "He had a surgery, and I'm still in the hospital with him."
"Are you crying?" Alex's original cold voice, which made it difficult for Elly to know what's on his mind.
But only he understood that when she said that, he thought of John. Elly was by his side because he had saved her. He felt pain and jealousy, yes, he was jealous.
Without Elly's answer, Alex gave an order. "Wait for me. I'll be right there. I have something to tell you."
