Chapter 43: Chapter 43

Chapter 45 An agreement between the two women

"You have never been my burden!" John said softly. He knew he had hit her self-esteem.

She realized that his voice was softer, and pleaded. "Well, both of us cannot be unemployed at the same time, please let me continue to work, okay?"

"Do I have no right to tell you not to work in that company anymore?" his voice became different.

She shook her head vigorously. "No, no, I always respect your opinions, don't say that."

John sighed, he didn't want her to stay in that company, but he didn't have the capacity to stop her. Now, he was like a useless man. Only a few simple measures of his wife, he could not find a solution.

"Elly, promise me. Stay away from Alex. He's not a good man. Don't be teasing." John surrendered, reluctantly agreed.

She remembered the scent of Alex's morning scent, she blushed slightly.

She nodded and said 'yes', because she won't forget that John had prejudice against Alex before, this vigilance and hatred could be understood.

"I will pick you up after work."

"OK."

After hanging up the phone, she finally felt more comfortable and was able to work with peace of mind. And it made her happy for a moment.

The rumor about the relationship between her and Alex was spread out by her colleagues.

"Have you heard yet? Elly is Alex's secret lover. "

"No wonder she's not being punished when she leaves early or arrived late."

"She is his little lover, she is still indulgent, anyone can't to blame her."

"Maybe, she was punished in bed, ha ha ha."

Elly blushed in embarrassment, she dared not walk past the loud discussion. She stood against a pot of bonsai, waiting for everyone to leave when she saw a figure appearing at the door on left of the crowd.

Alex appeared, causing the crowd to shut their mouth and greeted him. He casually did not reply, passed by them. Where everyone could not see, he showed a happy smile, making his cold face become much more peaceful.

The whole day was the headline for everyone to talk about, Elly went out with a bored face. She saw John standing outside the glass door, hurriedly hid her unhappy mood, walked quickly towards him.

A tall figure in the right hallway came out, she smacked him.

"Elly!"

She rubbed her nose and lifted his head with a bad premonition.

Alex supported her waist with one hand to keep her from falling back, and flicked her forehead with the other. "You're not looking. You have eyes, why don't you use it to see?"

Elly pulled away from his arms, her first reaction was to look at John at the door, then frowned unhappily. "Mr. Alex, please keep your distance."

Alex ignored his words and said wistfully. "Let me take you home."

John watched Elly who was stopped by Alex. Worryingly, he entered the company's hall when he saw Elly's waist being hugged, John angrily walked faster, grabbed her elbow and pulled it towards him.

"Mr. Alex, time's out. You shouldn't continue to bother your staff like that." John warned him in a harsh voice.

Alex chuckled, he did not look at John, just stared at Elly, his voice was especially gentle.

"I just worry that her evening is not safe. If you already have a driver, I won't bother."

John steeled words from Elly. "I never thought a boss of such a large corporation is kind to his staffs. It is more sensible that you should distribute your attention to other employees. Anyway, Elly already has a fiancé, I will take care of her safety."

"Oh, really?" Alex's contemptuous gaze shone directly on John. All of them remembered Elly's kidnapping, and John was off-track when he didn't find her. And Alex left with a whistle of victory.

John clenched his hand with great anger. He pulled her away quite roughly. Elly followed in silence, out of the company, she realized the problem: they had gone very far, but still could not see his car.

"John, where did you park your car?"

John was dominated by anger, he suddenly stopped, his voice was calm. "I sold it."

"What?" Elly was surprised, quickly asked. "Why did you sell your car?"

John quietly embarrassed but did not hide it. "We also need to live."

In fact, his mother warned his friends, asked them not to help him in all situations. She wanted to push him to the end, exhausted all the resources to see how he could manage if he continued to stay with Elly.

Elly understood his mother's tricks, she began to waved when she thought about his sacrifices. She thought, maybe she should leave John, it would be better for him and everyone else.

It was just that Elly did not expect that the rumors between her and Alex reached Emily's ears in just one day. She did not allow anyone to have rumors with Alex, especially Maddy.

The next day in the morning, Elly was stopped at the company's door. She smiled politely even though she did not like this tough woman in her heart. "Sorry, I'm going to be late for work, can you get out of the way?"

"I want to talk to you privately." Emily said arrogantly. "If you want the whole company to know about your own bad news, then standing here to talk doesn't matter."

The two went to a cafe just by the street. Elly ordered a cup of coffee, the jingle spoon stirring showed her impatient mood.

Emily frankly said in her sour voice. "I heard about the rumors between you and Alex."

Elly partly guessed, so she calmly explained. "Ms. Emily, these are just rumors. I and Mr. Alex are innocent, we are not related to anything but work."

Emily looked at Elly coldly and despised. "I don't believe you, but I do believe John's stupidity in choosing his wife. He definitely shouldn't marry a girl who stepped on two boats."

Elly did not reply. She guessed that Emily definitely had a purpose when she mentioned John at this time.

"I know that he caused a medical accident and has been suspended from work."

"He was not at fault in that medical incident." Elly did not want outsiders to blame on John, she looked at the person in front of her with unfavorable eyes.

"I don't care who the incident responsibility belongs to." Emily threw the teaspoon on the table, and she contemptuously gave the bait. "But I can help him deal with the trouble"

She was not stupid, she frowned and asked directly. "What are the conditions?"

Emily burst into laughter. "I want you to stay away from Alex. I don't want to hear any more bullshit rumors about the secret mistress anymore"

This condition is very simple because Elly is completely innocent, she doesn't have an affair with Alex. She nodded resolutely, ignoring a moment of silence in her heart with a bit of bitterness. "Yes, I promise you."

After their meeting, Alex found Elly very strange. Whether it was a meeting or business report, she kept more than two meters away from him. The gap is too big, making him unsatisfied.

When Elly put the documents to be signed on the table, he coldly said, his eyes fixed on curled lids. "Only when you submit your report, will you come close to me."

She was about to react, then she saw his dangerous close eyes. He quickly held her hand tightly when she wanted to step back. "Are you trying to avoid me on purpose?"

Elly smiled but the dagger-filled gaze stabbed the hand hurting her. "Mr. Alex, the company has some rumors about you and me. I'm in the gap to clear this up."

"What rumor?" He knew, but still deliberately asked.

"The rumor is that I climbed high to chase after my superior. I already have a fiancé, and my taste is very picky. This rumor has greatly influenced my honor."

He didn't expect her answer, he was furious. "I was rumored to have a relationship with you, the person who lost honor and face must be me and not you."

"Fortunately, you think so too." Elly smiled, her eyes arched, she hit hard on the back of his hand. "So, would you mind if I keep the distance? This is to stop the rumors from spreading."

Alex felt that sometimes she talks too much, he wanted to sew her mouth to reduce frustration in his heart. Throwing her hand away, his face was a fierce gray. "Go out!"

Elly silently turned around, the moment she put her hand on the door handle, his cruel voice rang out. "Everything you do is just for that damn John, right? Did he forbade you to come near me?"

She turned, still with a standard smile, but only she understood clearly the nameless sadness inside. "I don't want my fiancé to misunderstand. And also, I don't want your girlfriend to hear some bad gossip."
