Chapter 31 She Lost her Memories

Alex stared at her for a few seconds and then he turned in a different direction. "I don't need to report to you what everything I do. Even a couple has their own freedom, and you are not yet my wife."

These words deeply hurt Emily. She just witnessed his cold attitude and all the dissatisfaction she felt suddenly bursts.

"Alex, don't talk to me like that! I was just worried about you. Recently, I've noticed that you're cold to me that even your greetings when you came home became luxury. It seems that I am just a guest in this house."

Emily's eyes filled with tears, she stared at Alex. She hoped that he would turn his back and would ask for forgiveness for how he treated her.

All of her strength seemed to be taken away when she heard the door slammed. She just walked to the sofa and cry.

She did her best to keep their relationship work. During the past three years, she knew that Alex started to change, but his attitude was always cautious. Since Elly appeared, his attitude towards her was more unusual, he was not only impatient but also, he was more detached.

Although she knew that Maddy had lost her memory, she mistakenly thought Elly was Maddy for the first time and it was dangerous.

The phone suddenly rang, Emily looked at the caller's name and she sneaked into the bathroom in fear of being discovered.

"Didn't I tell you not to actively call me? Do you really want to die? " she hissed impatiently.

"Ms. Emily, I apologize but I have to ask something. Apparently, you said Elly had no one to help her, but she was rescued by the Director of Hargreaves's company. We were arrested and handed over to the police."

"What?" she rolled her eyes in horror. "She was saved? The Director saved her? Are you sure?"

"He's famous, even though we're uneducated thugs, we saw him on media. Now, my brother has been arrested and he's at the police station, you must help us! We will return the money as long as you help us and intervene in the police affairs" the other line said.

"Alright, leave everything else to me and delete all contacts that you have with me."

"But..." Emily did not let him finish, she immediately hung up her phone and her eyes were filled with despair.

She knew Alex had gone towards the western outskirts, but she thought that it was just a coincidence. Alex could not find out information and just risked his life because of his little deputy secretary.

But after that phone call, there was no doubt left in her heart. 'Did he knew that Elly was Maddy?', Emily thought to herself.

While Emily panicked over the unexpected outcome of her works, John contacted Alex again after leaving their home. The two were scheduled to meet.

Alex coldly looked at the educated man in front of him, "Can you not bother me like that?" his voice was dissatisfied.

"If you will free her or at least tell me where she is, I won't bother you anymore." John hissed.

Alex sat down on the chair, crossed his legs, arrogantly looked at John, and said "Is she your fiancée? Then you must know the way to find your her, why you have to rely on me? If you could not fulfill your duties as her fiancé's, you must let her free. "

"Alex!" John pounded the table. "Are you not ashamed to constantly interfere in other people's love affairs?"

"Sit down!" Alex also shouted; his voice commanded. "Who gave you permission to be rude and talk to me like that?"

John ignored him and continued to speak.

"Don't you have Emily? She's been with you for three years! Otherwise, you do feel sorry with Maddy that you are becoming delusional whenever you meet anyone who looks like her? "

During the weekend, she stayed at the hotel to rest, she applied for the medicine that Alex bought for help. But as she looks at the mirror, she still saw a terrifying bruise on her back.

She felt lucky that the cane did not hit Alex's body. If he have this bruise and when everyone in the company knew that it was because of her, she would surely be blamed by the entire company.

Although Alex was the evil boss exploiting employees, he was the one who directly pays the salaries. His small injury also made female colleagues panic.

She took her jacket to buy some food to eat and when she opened the door, Alex stood outside with a hand-raised movement as if he wanted to knock on the door.

"Where are you going?"
