Chapter 287: Chapter 287

Chapter 289 Death of Nicholas

The title was accompanied by a photo of Elly and Nicholas. The picture showed the restaurant in which the four of them ate dinner last night. The picture was the two of them at the door of the restaurant when they collided. The subtle shooting angle made the audience felt that Nicholas was looking at her very affectionately.

In particular, there are pictures them at school. The first picture was them having lunch together and the other picture was when they went to the library together.

"Is that true?" her assistant looked at Elly hesitantly.

She shook her head angrily and denied it. "All these photos were taken by our classmates"

"It's so scary! The photo is just pure friendship but in the writings of the reporter, it turned the friendship into a deep connection of love, an estrangement that lasted for five years." her assistant said. The assistant looked down and read the words on the rumors. She sighed at the power of literature.

Elly felt angry. She stood up and went straight to the room. The assistant was taken aback and chased her in panic. "Miss Elly, where are you going?"

She pressed the elevator, turned around, she watched her subordinate gasp and said wishfully. "I will go to Nicholas to find out more. I want to clarify things with him. He must have an idea regarding the issue.

"You can't go alone. I'm afraid a reporter will follow you." The assistant didn't have time to hold Elly's hand and watched helplessly as she walked into the elevator door that had just been opened.

Elly glared and warned in a cold voice. "You can't call me and I haven't reported for work yet. Remember."

"Yes ma'am, I'll remember." Elly's assistant was startled.

Elly ran directly to the hospital through the auxiliary door. She did that to prevent reporters from seeing her in the hospital.

"Excuse me, which room does Dr. Nicholas work in?"

The nurse was startled when she recognized Elly, stared at her for a moment and then looked down at the computer. "Just a moment, please. I'll see if Dr. Nicholas is on duty today."

Many family members and patients nearby also recognized Elly and the rumor still stood on the search list, so it attracted everyone's attention.

"She looks beautiful and can easily catch two men. I heard that her wedding to Alex was postponed. I wonder if that's the reason?"

"She is a rich brat who can date surgeons, that sounds trivial."

"Because he is rich and more famous than many male singers, many girls would want to associate themselves with him."

Elly looked back and heard the discussion around her. She turned her head and looked at them. The sarcastic hype was quickly suppressed, and some people pretended to cover their faces with their mobile phones.

This was a hospital, a public place and Elly doesn't want to make any more noise. When she got the information from the nurse, she hurried to the elevator. She felt in her heart that she was angry and her dissatisfaction with Nicholas was even higher.

Outside the lounge, Nicholas was surrounded by nurses and cleaners. Everyone who strived for improvement knew that Nicholas's fate was very good, and even the most beautiful single nurses gathered around him. Each person praised him for the C-section he performed yesterday.

Nicholas sheepishly took a nurse's cake box and was startled before he could say thank you. He saw Elly walking quickly out of the elevator, her face looked angry.

"Elly? What's wrong with you? Why did you go to the hospital?"

"Congrats! I was wrong about you." Elly yelled in front of him, which surprised everyone present.

A nurse quickly regained her spirits and scolded Elly. "Who are you? Why do you need to shout at Dr. Nicholas for no reason?"

"Who I am has nothing to do with you." Elly stood idly by, flipped through the cake box in Nicholas's hand, looked at the nurse and kindly reminded him. "You should be careful with him or else you will regret it."

The other nurses were furious at Elly's abominable attitude and suddenly wanted to warn her, but they were stopped by Nicholas.

He stood between Elly and the crowd and begged with a smile. "Go back to work and we'll talk about the party later, okay?"

His handsome face and kind smile were enough to break through the anger in everyone's hearts, and the nurses listened to his words. They all left after they threw disgusted eyes at Elly.

Nicholas also realized that her behavior was different from her usual behavior and he asked hesitantly. "What happened? Are you angry?"

"Don't pretend. Nicholas, let me ask you, are you the one who provided the photos to the newspaper?"

"What are you talking about?" Nicholas asked her and found several patients poking their heads out of the ward because Elly's voice was very loud. He suggested in a low voice. "Can we talk in the office? This is a hospital. I'm on duty. It's inconvenient."

"Are you neurotic? She brought her phone to him, pointed to a picture of them at school, and harshly accused him. "I remember this picture was just the two of us. Why does it appear on the Internet now?"

Nicholas looked at the screen with a heavy face. He pulled the cell phone in her hand and finished reading the articles. He took a few breaths to contain his anger because it's hard for him to tell her.

"Elly, I don't know about this. It's really just the two of us. I didn't publish the article, nor did I show the picture to anyone else."

He clasped his hands and felt that he was not careful. Nicholas was worried that his house must have been turned over and searched.

"How would you explain our picture when we were in high school?"

Elly's question choked him and he didn't know how to answer it. He blushed because of anger, dizziness and suddenly understood the problem.

"Do you think I deliberately wrote to the reporter and told them the rumors about you and me?"

Elly did not answer, but the look of disgust in her eyes spoke for itself.

"You and Alex are so happy, what's the use of me forcing myself in?"

Nicholas was saddened by her suspicion and lack of trust and he spoke his mind.

"The goal was to affect our relationship."

"Will that emotional influence from the newspaper change your feelings for me?" Nicholas said with a smile. He was in great pain, not because his secret love had been exposed after so many years but because the other person had never seen his feelings.

"Elly, would you rather trust them than someone who never wanted to hurt you?"

Elly understood the meaning of this sentence. She approached him and emphasized every word. "Last time, you spoke ill of Prosperity again and again but gave no evidence to prove her wrong doings. How can I trust you?"

"Haven't we known each other long enough for you to believe? Is my dignity that bad in your eyes?"

Elly refused to answer with her lips.

"Elly, you really know how to hurt others." Nicholas caressed his face and tried not to say more nasty words.

In a flash, Elly panicked and stretched out her hand to cover her face. They looked at the man in a hat with a huge camera belt around his neck, constantly taking pictures of the two.

In the distance, many patients poked their heads out and a nurse ran with a security guard.

"You hide in my break room." Nicholas reacted more quickly. He took Elly by the arm and pushed her into a nearby room.

From the closed door, she would still hear the questions. That man might be a journalist. "Mr. Nicholas, what do you have to do with Miss Elly? Why did you take her to your own lounge?"

At this time, Elly did not panic and she felt that her assistant had no foresight left. She wanted to know whether to call Alex. There was a lot of chaotic noise from the other side of the door. The security guard chased the reporter, and the nurse was concerned about asking Nicholas more questions.

It was an hour after before Elly was discharged from hospital. She went back to the design room and got tired of looking at the computer screen. There were more photos and false rumors on it.

Her argument with Nicholas became affectionate again and she came to see him because she was worried.

Elly folded her laptop gloomily, turned her eyes on her phone and was surprised not to receive a call from Alex.

At Swiss Entertainment Company, after work, Linda turned to the supermarket to buy food and went to Gerald's house. The two made an appointment at his house today, and she wanted to show her cooking skills to Gerald.

Linda stooped to make a choice between two carrots, she bent to support herself. She did not notice a passing guest with a cart. The cart hit her buttocks and she heard an apology. The familiar voice made Linda stop massaging her buttocks.

"Is that you Dr. Nicholas?"

Nicholas nodded and greeted her. He looked at her basket, and chatted amicably. What will Miss Linda cook that she needs so many carrots?"

"My boyfriend hates eating carrots, so he buys a little."

After her response, Linda suddenly remembered the rumors she had read on the Internet. She changed her tone and became indifferent and distant.

"Is your place near this supermarket? I have been to this supermarket several times, but I have never seen you."

"I live in an apartment across the street. I usually eat out but there are no supplies in the house, so I had the chance to see you today."

"For what?" Linda was displeased and Nicholas could still hear her.

He guessed what she was trying to say and said. "Ms. Linda is used to judging others by rumors in the tabloids."

Linda recognized the sarcasm in his voice, but she did not waver at all. "If rumors affect a friend's life and mood, I will certainly not be happy to judge the culprit."

"Two people look at each other because they have come into contact with all kinds of people, because they know what to say and what not to say in public, they do not continue their stories." She said and left quickly afterwards.

Nicholas looked at her back but his mind was full of Elly's image during the day.

"Am I wrong?" He muttered to himself, his eyes failing.

Linda hurriedly carried two foam bags containing food and walked out quickly. She continued and hit a man who rushed into the glass door.

"Do you walk without eyes?"

"Who are you scolding?"

Linda stepped back and looked at Allan with vigilance and a bored voice. "Are you following me? Why are you so creepy?"

He asked her angrily. "Do you need my protection? I happen to have a job nearby and I "don't track like a pervert.

Linda was cold and wanted to leave first, but she was hugged by him tightly. "Isn't your house nearby?"

"We don't know each other. No need." Linda's voice seemed to attract the attention of the guests in the supermarket. Allan was also startled. He released her and asked her to leave.

After a long walk, she patted her chest and breathed a sigh of relief. She looked back and didn't see anyone on the wall of the coffee shop. She was now very close to Gerald's house, and if Allan followed her, it will be very troublesome.

It's strange that he didn't chase her. Linda turned and looked back again before she crossed the road and walked straight to Gerald.

She did not know that in the dark, a pair of dark eyes were chasing her steps and the air was filled with the smell of cigarettes.

If nothing terrible would happen the next day, the meeting would be forgotten.

Elly and Kitten had breakfast in the living room, while Alex left work early.

"Mom doesn't have to take me to school today. Uncle Gerald can just take me there."

"Aren't you going to be picked up by me every day?" Elly wiped the milk stains from her baby's mouth and asked gently.

"I know that you are coming to C City this morning to investigate the new contract. Mr. Geno said that if you start early in the morning, you will go home in time for a day in the evening. I want you to sleep with me tonight." Kitten said

She smiled from ear to ear and before she could speak, she was blocked by the vigorous sound of the maid's feet.

"Miss Elly. It's not good. "

"What's the matter? " Elly put the new cake on Kitten's plate and asked in surprise.

"There's a lot of reporters outside wanting to see you."

"Is it still about Nicholas? Didn't Jeffrey delete the photos and articles yesterday?" Elly's voice was unhappy. She stood up and wanted to go out.

"Nicholas is dead." The maid took her by the hand and spoke in fear, her voice trembling.

Elly's rickety body clasped tightly on the table so as not to fall. She held the maid's hand tightly and stammered. "What did you say? Who died?"

"It was Nicholas, Miss Elly."

"The teacher called to say that she and Master Alex did not have to go out today. He asked for a leave of absence from kindergarten and hoped that she would also go on a business trip to City."

Elly calmed down, went to the window, opened the curtains and looked at the door of the villa. The reporters sat noisily, carrying cameras and microphones and many passers-by stopped curiously to watch.

Just then, Elly's cell phone rang and she fell to the ground in panic.

"Mom Elly, what's the matter with you?" Kitten asked anxiously with a spoon in his mouth.

"I'm okay." Elly rubbed his hand, tried to adjust her face to normal and looked down at the name of the caller.
