Chapter 235: Chapter 235

Chapter 237 Accident

Peter and Emily both left the judicial bureau and they had a different opinion regarding the issue.

Before Emily walked down the steps, Peter reached out to stop her. "Emily, this is a gift for you."

Emily stared at the key in his hand, her voice cold. "Divorce settlement?"

Her question made Peter laugh. "Tiffany is a gift I prepared in advance. I am planning to surprise you when I come home from a business trip. Now that we're over, let's just say this is my last gift for you."

Emily was motionless. He put the keys and the document in her hand and said faintly. "Write the form of the house on my name, and you can live there or sell it. Thank you for coming."

Emily turned and left.

Peter sadly looked at her back. As if driven by the devil, he ran towards her and hurriedly hugged her from behind.

Her body shook and her trembling hand tried to touch his, but after a moment of hesitation, she said. "I'm sorry."

All his hopes were extinguished. Emily pried open Peter's hand and did not hesitate.

"You're a good man, but I want more than just care."

Emily's words fluttered with the wind and did not reach him.

When she returned to the Hargreaves house, Emily went around and asked the servant why she didn't see Elly. "Where is Elly?"

"Ms. Elly went out early in the morning."

Emily was upset by what the staff said, she waved her hand. "You go, do your job."

The servant didn't like her attitude, but he left.

Emily passed by Alex' office and the door opened, revealing Alex who was about to go out of the room.

Emily glanced at his impatient face and smiled gently.

Alex never gave her a look and went straight to the door. Emily hid her disappointment. She didn't give up and quickly stepped forward to block his way.

"I have something to tell you."

"Say it!"

Emily watched him stand quietly and hesitated. "Can we sit down and talk about it?"

Alex looked at her sideways. Without saying a word, she went straight to the sofa and sat down. He sat upright, expressionless, and he looked at her coldly.

Alex spoke quickly. "I don't have much time."

Alex was always impatient with Emily.

Emily pressed her fingers on the palm of her hand to hide the sadness she felt. Her eyes were lost when she blurted out the words, "Peter and I are already divorced."

"I was not surprised when you told me. So what?"

"What happened between Peter and me really didn't affect your mood." Emily laughed mockingly. "You really don't care."

Alex did not answer her question. What happened was exactly what we had expected.

Without getting any reaction from Alex, Emily bit her lips and made up her mind. "I need to get out of here."

"You don't have to tell me this. I don't mind whether you go out of this house or live here." Alex stood up and looked at her. "Talk to Elly about this yourself. She is the owner of this building," he told her coldly as if she was a stranger.

He went straight to the door and threw a cruel word. "Don't waste my time next time."

Emily's voice came in a hurry. "Alex, if you don't want to treat me as one of your family members, can we be friends instead?"

His feet never stopped as if he never heard what she asked him. This hurt Emily's heart even more.

Emily sat in the middle of the spacious living room. She bit her lip and suppressed her sadness and disappointment. After more than 10 minutes, her mood became stable.

"I will not give up."

Emily walked back to her room and she heard Elly's call after she started to climb the stairs.

"Emily, where did you go this morning?"

Emily stopped but did not answer.

Elly knew immediately that something was wrong with Emily. She hurriedly went up the stairs and looked sideways at Emily's faint face.

"Is something wrong?"

"This morning, Peter and I came to the legal department and the divorce procedures have been completed."

"Divorce?" Elly was startled and didn't expect it to happen so soon. She still believed that as time goes by, Peter would have time to persuade Emily to change her mind.

Divorce was not a small matter. Elly still thinks that Emily was just angry that is why she decided hastily, Elly was trying to persuade her patiently.

Although they were already divorced, if the two still had feelings for each other, they could still get back together. She just needed to persuade her sister.

Emily felt sick and she frowned at Elly. She did not want to hear what she was about to say. "I have decided to go out of this house and live on my own." Emily informed Elly.

"Where are you going? Have you found a job or a place to live?"

"Peter gave me a house, with all the documents under my name. I'm moving in."

Elly felt that Peter was still a responsible person. He made proper arrangements for Emily, which made Elly breathe a sigh of relief. She smiled and she kept on saying nice things to Peter inside her head.

"Look, despite the divorce, Peter still takes good care of you."

"Will you stop talking?" Emily went on a rampage angrily, and the more she listened to the pity of Elly, the more bitter her heart became. Her patience was limited and she can't control her temper."

Elly was startled and realized that she had too much to do. Their divorce was also a big blow to Emily's heart. She closed her lips and said no words of comfort.

Emily's originally tense spirit became more and more angry as days goes by. She would always yell at Elly.

It was her sister who filed for divorce and she was also the one who was determined to break up her relationship with her ex-husband. "Stay out of other people's business, okay?" Emily said.

Emily pushed Elly's shoulder with both hands. "Go ahead and leave me alone. Let me be in peace."

Elly was scolded face and she felt ashamed. She stepped back and compromised. "All right, I'll leave you alone. Have a good rest."

"It's none your business." Emily pushed her sister, her voice louder with hatred.

Elly took the wrong step, she instinctively grabbed the stair handle to stabilize her body but the next bigger push took her hand away from the handrail and Elly leaned back and rolled down the stairs, shouting several times around.

On the bottom of the staircase, Elly's leg hurt so much that she almost lost her consciousness and she felt that she was not sober. Elly realized that she could not move. She hurriedly tried to move her legs, but she felt a hot and humid feeling between her legs.

Her brain seemed to have paused and her whole body instantly became cold with a bad hunch. In her blurred line of sight, Elly saw housekeeper Geno was running towards her and asked his subordinate to call Alex. He called for help. Under the circumstances, no one dared to touch her.

The ambulance came quickly. They carried Elly to the ambulance carefully. Before she gradually fell into a coma, she felt severe abdominal pain. With vague consciousness, she whispered, "Please. Save my son."

Almost all the people present went into the hospital and prayed anxiously for Elly.

When Alex arrived at the hospital, the door of the emergency room was still closed.

"Why did she fell down the stairs?" He asked, looking at every face present in the hospital.

Butler Geno and all his staff looked at Emily. When they heard the noise, they ran over and saw Elly lying on the stairs. Emily was with Elly when she fell down the stairs.

In everyone's sight, Alex stared at Emily. He emitted an invisible sense of urgency, which startled her.

He asked a question in a hoarse tone. "What did you do with Elly?"

"No, it's not what you think." Emily explained. "Well, I didn't mean it. I really didn't mean it. I didn't expect her to fall."

"Liar! You're a bad person!" Kitten who stood beside housekeeper Geno, shouted. At this time, he stood in front of Emily. Kitten pointed at her face and shouted angrily with tears in his eyes. "I saw my aunt push my mother down the stairs. It made her lose a lot of blood."
