Chapter 21 I'll be moving out
Elly felt surprised, she looked up and faced Alexis Hargreaves with little doubt. She thought Alex might hate her horrid attitude from yesterday. "But he thanked her? Wasn't Alexis Hargreaves a cruel person with no humanity?"
Alex frowned because she didn't reply, the moment Elly looked up, he met those familiar eyes, his heart dropped a beat.
"How can that be so alike? What is that even mean?"
"Sir, allow me to go first." Elly quickly walked into the elevator. She felt uncomfortable inside from the stare of Alexis Hargreaves, an unusual feeling. She couldn't explain so choose to avoid it.
After she left, Alex received a call from his underling "How is the investigation?"
The person read the report, Alex frowned more and more.
"Check every detail for the past three years. Even if she's dead you have to find the burial place."
Alex hanged up and opened his mail, he stared nonstop at the data that had been sent. He remembered some suspicious points, his eyes narrowed dangerously. There were too many things that Alex couldn't understand, it made him annoyed.
Meanwhile, outside Elly's office were noisy, she never thought John Elliott would come to this place to find her.
She quickly got out of her office.
John's sad face made her felt guilt.
"John, did something urgent happened? About that thing... the answer, can you wait till I finish work?"
John Elliott always thought that Elly would be waiting for him at home even though she doesn't want to leave. Yesterday, he made an appointment to see her at 4 pm at the airport, but she didn't keep in touch, He had an emergency surgery that made him changed the flight schedule again, waiting for him at a cold empty house, but Elly continued to works at Hargreaves company, ignored the man plea for quitting the job.
John closed his mouth and intended not to answer, putting the airplane ticket into Elly's hands, he said with a loud voice that caught people attention.
"The airplane will take off in one hour. Go with me immediately." He roughly pulled her hand.
Elly's associate began gossiping, she walked with John Elliott shyly, she stopped him to an empty hall, they stand at a spot without moving.
"John Elliott, this is not you. Don't put me in dilemma okay?"
"So, you have the right to make me feel miserable? You have the right to crushed all my feelings?"
Elly looked at him, softly eyes intermingling with some strength. She talked slowly and clearly. "I will not move to S country, I will stay in this A town to work and live, this is my life, I have my own decisions."
Elly had let go of John her hands, her decisions surprised him. "John Elliott, can you see how much you meddled in my life? Today, you came to my workplace just because of these tickets which made me felt a lack of respect. I think we need time to confirm this relationship. I'll be moving out."
"What did you just say?" John Elliott panicked, awkwardly tried holding her hand but got rejected.
"I know I am your fiancé, I won't be with anyone else. But, I need my own space. Just leave, don't make our thing unsightly."
She looked at John's painful face then turned away firmly. Between both of them, they need to be wiser a person.
Right after Elly left away, a huge body with a horrid aura appeared in front of John Elliott.
"Mr. Elliott is so free today so he had to come here, to the Hargreaves company to look for his woman? Had she known that you are an unfaithful person, changed a new woman less than three years? So, she abandoned you?"
At the scorn of Alexis Hargreaves, John Elliott replied acidly "Unfaithful has to be the kind of a husband who divorced his wife while she was pregnant." Then John Elliott walked straight to the elevator.
The harsh conversation between them made Alexis Hargreaves depressed causing him to punch the wall full of anger.
He walked back to the office furiously, pass by Elly who was fidgeting beside a photocopier.
"To my office, now!"
All the personnel looked at her with happy eyes, they thought that Elly would be in trouble. She was new in that place but already had a chance to go on a business trip with the boss, which made all the old assistants and secretaries felt dissatisfied.
When she had arrived at the Alexis Hargreaves office, he told her about a new notification.
"You have passed the probationary period, from now on you will officially be the deputy secretary, under John's position. This position sometimes has to do extra work, such as few night parties with partners, is this ok with you?"
Elly replied straightly "Pretty much sir."
Alex was surprised when this was the first time someone felt unhappy when they got promoted.
"I had a fiancé, so sometimes we will have personal plans to work out the relationship. In those situations please allow me to switch shift with another secretary."
"I thought you are going to refuse this position?"
"I am not that stupid," Elly smirked, her eyes full with confidence, which made Alexis Hargreaves felt lost to that familiar sight again.
"Well done. Today after work, come with me to a social meeting."
Alex looked away, head down to look at the opened documents to hide his feelings.
"Tonight?" Elly asked surprisingly but received nothing besides his cold attitude, she knew he started to work already.
Elly gets back to work and was congratulated by her associates.
"Elly, our department will go out to have lunch someday okay? Since the time you got here, we haven't done any welcome party for you yet."
"Elly, you are so brilliant, for you to be deputy secretary for less than a month. those positions were always the target for the secretary department."
"Right when Mr. Hargreaves checked the resume of Elly by himself, he took her contact number, I already knew that our company will have someone extremely talented."
Elly surprised, asked "Mr. Hargreaves took my contact number? When?"
"Before you were here. Didn't the company announce you to have an interview? I was in charge of checking all the resumes at that time. But I don't know why did the interview was canceled, surprisingly, you went to work the next day."
Elly remembered the call she got that day she went to a night party with John Elliott, she felt something wrong. She was engrossed in that thought deeply, she didn't realize there were a pair of harsh eyes that were staring at her.
Elly and Alex went to the meeting party After office hours, when she was in his car was seen by lots of her associates. The fact that Alexis Hargreaves took Elly with was a sudden invitation, so he didn't tell his subordinates.
Elly with a straightforward personality, right when they got in the car, she asked.
"Mr. Hargreaves, I heard everyone said that the person who decided to hired me without an interview were you, may I know the reason?"
Alex was driving, glanced at her with cold-blooded eyes.
"Aren't you a confident person? Are all of your degrees are fake? You don't believe in your own professional capacity?"
"I'm asking very polite sir, why do you always have to use that grumpy attitude with all the harsh words to reply? Do you have some kind of illness about hating society? Mr. Hargreaves, why did you hire me? And what did I have done to make you feel so disgusted?" Her upward slanted circle eyes looked straight to Alex's face.
Through the side mirror, Alexis Hargreaves looked hypnotized into her eyes, they were gorgeous and willful.
"With all those good degrees, I still expect at a quiet secretary only focus on work. But the reality seemed different. You talk too much and always asking stupid questions."
Elly glanced at him, turned her look outside the window. 'If that is not what he expected why promoted her to this position? Is that to trick a kid or something?'
After that, Elly being all silent on the ride until the car stopped in front of the house, she felt ecstatic.
Isn't this her and John's house?
She was surprised at the person who made her go for extra work, "Mr. Hargreaves, aren't we going to the party?"
"I'm no longer have an interest." Alex couldn't be patient so he let go of her "Get out of the car!"
Right when Elly stood still, the car ran at the highest speed away. She shrugged then looked into the sky. "Those people with the high position are not normal at all."
