Chapter 16 Suspicion

At exactly 7 a.m., Alex opened the door to go outside. The first thing that caught his eyes was Elly, who was shivering from cold with her head hanging down nearby the door. There was a facial cleanser bottle on her hands, which was the brand that he frequently used.

She was still wearing her last night's outfit, her hair is slightly wet with some dewdrops on it. Alex knew that she must have been waiting here for such a long period, maybe all night.

"So, you think I will show mercy to you if I saw you like this?" Alex became extremely frustrated. She could have knocked on the door. However, she deliberately chose to wait outside, which now made him feel like a corrupt boss who had exploited his employee.

Alex kicked her in the legs, "You are such a stupid person! Wake up!"

No reaction was shown.

The second kick was increasingly harsh. Elly opened her eyes, startled that she has been disturbed along with trying to rub her legs.

"Who was the bastard that woke me up?" She wanders around, then faced up to such fierce eyes of her boss, who was staring directly at her,

"Good morning, Mr. Alex," She said in a softened voice.

"How long were you going to cry for help out here?" Alex sternly asked.

Elly pouted, her legs became numb after a long time staying in the cold condition. She wobbled, wanted to lean her hands against the wall but unfortunately slips away, and accidentally falling into Alex's embrace.

Her soft body stills had the mild and fresh essence of last night's dew. Alex slightly frowned, pushed her to the side.

Elly fell onto the door that had only been loosely locked. The door burst open, which made her lie right in Alex's room.

Alex dangerously squinted his eyes, "You have many tactics in order to sleep with me, don't you?"

Casting her eyes around the room, Elly assumed that he had misunderstood. She tried to stand up despite the pain in her waist.

"It was you that push me to that door. Unfortunately, it didn't lock, so I fell into your room. I didn't do it on purpose."

"If it was not intentional, then why are you wearing your pajama while standing in front of my door in the early morning?"

"I was the one who has the capacity to make the decision on my own clothes, not you. All I want to do is just give you this facial cleanser bottle. Here, take it and clean your face so that you won't be able to develop your thick skin." Elly put the item in his hands.

Whereas checking the bottle, Alex came with a disdainful response: "You are not that useless, are you? Where did you find it? Why didn't you buy it in the first place so that I don't have to humiliate and look down on you? Was this a way of you to gain much attention from man?"

"I saw that you kept insisting on using this product, so I was convinced that you had a sensitive skin. However, I had no idea that you needed this to help you stop putting on your boldface. I went everywhere for you, thinking of your health, but it seemed that all I do isn't worth the effort at all."

Alex, with a pale face due to her coming off, while squeezing her head hard, he gnashes his teeth at her. "Don't forget your place. Get out of my room."

Elly was very angry with his ruthless and ungrateful attitude, but she just limps out of the room. She knew that she couldn't fight back this man who always relies on his power like a boss.

Despite those conflicts, the show must go on. In the morning, Elly took some thick piles of papers and went to get the contracts signed. In the afternoon, she followed Alex to the factory to check the work's progress and the procedures. Being hustle and bustle all day, Elly greatly admired her boss for being able to endure to these heavy schedules.

In the middle of the inspection, Alex discovered fraud in the procedure, he scolded the manager and ordered him to send him his report that night right away. Being completely frustrated while stepping out of the company, he didn't concentrate on the traffic lights, he continued walking towards without noticing a car was going on his way. Elly was scared to death, she threw the piles, trying to pull him back. Alex falls on top of her. His heart beats much faster, one more step and he will be hit by the car.

Although Alex seems cold and arrogant, he still suffered from the fear of death. He lifted her face only to realize that he was lying on top of Elly's body with his face in her chest.

"Where are you placing your head? Get away from me. Little rascal. Pervert." Elly blushed while screams.

Alex stayed still, putting his hands around her waist then says "Pervert? Who was the one that intended to pull me back? Who was the one that blushed when I came close?"

"You surely misunderstood. I got involved in a traffic accident three years ago, that's why every time a similar situation happens, and my body would automatically reacts which makes it hard to breathe and my face just turns red right away."

"You had an accident three years ago?"

Elly hit Alex "My personal information is none of your business. Get off my body. We're outside, I don't want to get people to mistake our relationship."

Alex stood up, looking at her recollecting the papers.

"Maddy?"

"Huh?" Elly rose her head, asking him back. "Me?"

Alex was mad at her blank and stupid face: "Hurry up with those files and go back."

He went into the car, making a phone call with Andrew.

"Investigate everything about Elly for me, from her childhood to the present. I want the fastest information."

His eyes cast cruelly outside the window, saw her being clumsy with the flying papers. Alex smirked, "Stupid!"

The night was free time, Elly didn't need to follow the boss everywhere. Therefore, she rewarded herself with a meal in a luxurious restaurant.

Elly put on her beautiful dress, putting her hair up with a jade pin, letting two locks that drape down her face naturally. Under the gentle light of the chandelier, her charming and sweet beauty drew much attention from the men around.

The boy who was the waiter was no exception. She giggled, planning to wake him up but suddenly a voice was lifted "What kind of restaurant was this that allows the employee to look at the customer so disgraceful?"

Alex appeared all of a sudden behind Elly. Beside him was a bald and overweight man with a wide smile.

"No. No. He was just on trial. Please don't notice him, Mr. Alex." The fat man scolds at the waiter, "You are fired from today. Go and take your salary from the accountant.''

The waiter wanted to explain but was taken aback by the sharp look that bears a great resemblance to a dangerous predator from Alex. As a result, he had to leave in silence.

The fat guy rubbed his hands while looking at Alex, "Mr. Alex. I have already arranged a private table for you."

"Go away!" Alex talks in an indifferent tone.

The fat guy understands right away, looking at Elly who was still bewildered in the seat, bowed to him, and left.

Alex returned to see Elly's blank face, crossing his arms, asked, "Are you having dinner?"

Elly gazed at the dark black sky, blinking her eyelids, nods.

Alex waits for her invitation, but instead of that she just looks at him confusedly. Finally, he gives up, pulling the chair out and sits in the opposite place. "Because of your dedication today, I want to sing you a praise by paying for this dinner."

"No need at all. Mr. Alex can just transfer the reward into my bank account. I can eat on my own, without your help. ''

"Shut up and hand out your order. "Alex grinds his teeth. The more he was with this woman, the sooner he had to adjust her attitude." The waiter was replaced by a waitress, both of them took a turn to order. "Have you always lived abroad?" Alex carelessly asks.

"I lived in the S country for three years. And I have just spent my time in A city recently." Elly felt very touched by being asked about her life. Her friend networks only circles around John. Although the man in front of her was rude and heartless, at least he showed some concern for her life.

"Why did you go to the S country?''

"You know that an accident happened to me three years ago, I came to the S country to cure and learn. At the S country, I have rewarded a variety of degrees. You can never learn everything there."

"If you like that place that much, why do you come back the A city?" Alex asks

"Because..." Elly tilts her head, blinking her eyes, and says. "... I want to get back one thing."

"What have you lost?"

Elly's voice suddenly trembles. "Oh dear, I forget I don't eat pears and accidentally ordered the fruit salad." Elly gasps, ignoring his question and the eyes that were staring directly at her.

Pushing the salad away, Elly pouts her lips: "I am allergic to pears. This looks so delicious, but I can't eat them. What a shame!"

Elly puts all her focus on the food, without noticing that the man in front of her is shaking as well as his eyes coming out thin towards her.
