Chapter 135: Chapter 135
Chapter 137 I am not John Elliot
Elly knew that Aron meant no harm, and he objectively commented on the location of outsiders, but she was still too uncomfortable to explain.
Her pale face made Aron frown and suddenly remembered something. "Haven't you dated Alex before? Don't you know that kid? Haven't you seen him before?"
"Alex?" She was startled and realized that she had lost her way, so she shook her head. "No, I don't know about the little boy."
"Why do I have this feeling that you're weird today? Since you saw that child, you have been a little absent-minded and inattentive. What's on your mind?" In his confused reaction, he scanned her eyes and looked down at Elly.
"Me." She bit her lip and tried to explain.
Aron smiled sympathetically. "I know you lost your temper when you saw Alex. You need not to be ashamed of this reaction. In the face of old love, few people can calm down."
Elly smiled from ear to ear, as if to accept his explanation.
"Come on, come on. We are standing at the door of the restaurant and blocking the people from doing business."
At the urging of Aron, she followed him to the reservation desk.
Walking back and forth heavily, Elly muttered to herself, "Kitten, I owe you so much. I'm sorry! I'm really sorry!"
But Kitten did not think so, and even though Elly kept saying that he had the wrong person, he did not blame her. On the contrary, his idea is that of a child. "Dad, she pretended not to recognize me because she hate you, right? She threatened you that she'll take me, didn't she?"
Looking at his big eyes, Alex could not tell the truth. He was forced to lie and explain to other directions. "Yes, the guy with her is mom's boss. If the boss knew that she had a son like you, she would certainly be kicked out of the company."
Kitten believed his father's words. He reached out to wipe away all his tears, and his painful little face finally showed a bright smile.
"I know she won't forget me."
His heart was full of pain. Alex did not know whether it was right or wrong to deceive his son, but he could only do so.
Just now, he almost told the truth. He was sure that Elly and Aron could not be together, which was exactly what he wanted. But in the face of his anxious eyes, he gave in and got out of control.
Alex took the little boy to the opposite of the restaurant, put him on the chair, and said seriously. "Later we will see your uncle. And I can't run to her, remember?"
The child's withered face was brimming with joy, and he nodded reluctantly, his voice full of hope. "When will Mom think about going home?"
"Your mother has been very busy lately. Shall we wait a little longer?"
"Can't you sneak up to mom?" The child did not gave up his hope.
Alex shook his head slightly. He was originally a child without love, so he always knew more about things than other children. He nodded quietly and agreed luxuriantly. "Okay, I'll be good, when you come back to me."
Elly did not know that she would be with two men in her life that night, one of them she secretly had dinner with. At first, she wanted to invite Aron to a meal, but now her mind wandered around and she was absent-minded throughout the meal. Even the beautiful dress she wore was as sad as her master's face.
Aron watched Elly cook in a bowl, and ate stagnant vegetables like a lost soul. Aron put down the utensils and said hesitantly. "Well, I don't like the food here. Let's go to another restaurant."
His discreet question made her feel relieved and aware of her nonobservance, and she quickly apologized. "I would like to extend my sincerest apologies to you. I invited you to dinner, but I was distracted and rude."
Aron did not respond to the apology. His eyes were fixed on her and his whole body was uncomfortable.
Elly smiled sheepishly and asked. "What's going on? Why are you staring at me? Don't you want to accept my apology?"
Aron was still unknown, which frightened her. Looking back on the past, she did not find anything wrong and questioned him nervously. "What are you looking at? Do I have food all over my face, or is there something wrong with my clothes?"
Aron shook his head and frowned. He won't let her guess any more. "Take your time. I was thinking, why are you always rude to me? I guess I'm terrible and I scared you."
Elly was surprised to find that she did not think that the politeness she was accustomed to would make him misunderstand. "No, I..."
"Sometimes I think you treat Alex more naturally than you treat me." Aron did not make a random judgment, which was the conclusion of observation. His tone was sour and sarcastic.
"You always say that you hate Alex, and you always lose your cool and anger at him, but this is the natural expression of your true feelings. Frankly, I'm jealous of him. I'm not saying I don't like your politeness, but if you don't say a dirty word when facing at me, it would make me jealous of a man.
Elly was very surprised by the comments. She always treated Aron with the attitude of rewarding her benefactor, but it turned out to be a misunderstanding.
She admitted that she was used to being careful with others, afraid of losing the hearts of people, afraid of accepting too many other people's feelings without return, and that her heart never wanted to disturb Aron.
"You are his true friend."
Putting down her utensils, Elly bit her lip. There was something in her heart that she didn't say. Today, she wanted to end the night by saying what's on her heart to Aron. "Breathe gently," she said slowly.
"I'm not cautious or polite to you, but I'm afraid of losing a friend I care about. Therefore, sometimes my behavior is uncontrollable, but I become careless and worried carefully. I have experienced the feeling of loss once, and I never want to make the same mistake again."
Aron was startled and recognized it. "Was it John?"
He knew about John Elliot, he knew why she was cautious, and he regret what he just said.
"You don't have to explain. I understand." Aron is older than Elly and he knew a lot about the pain between people. He sincerely persuaded her.
"I'm glad you regard me as an important friend. But I am not warm, not weak, in need of protection, you do not have to be careful in front of me, because you do not owe me."
Elly seemed to swallow his every word, and the two looked directly at each other. His voice was serious and sincere. "Leila, since you chose to start over, you should face your new life bravely. You don't have to take responsibility that doesn't belong to you."
Elly smiled bitterly. She doesn't know if she still had the courage to face the life ahead, at least for now, she owed a lot of people, and there were people she doesn't have a chance to pay.
The dinner ended with the theme of "sadness". Elly paid the bill and left in Aron's car. Soon, a small figure pulled Alex's hand from the opposite restaurant.
Staring at the restaurant, full of curiosity. "Dad, this restaurant is so beautiful. Let's go in and have a look."
The ancient restaurant was full of adults and there was nothing to see.
Alex led him away, but Kitten stubbornly held on and looked at him with pitiful eyes, his voice a little cracked as if he wanted to cry. "Dad, let me see. I will leave after I see her. I want to go where my mother sits."
Alex was silent. Kitten's eyes began to water, it did not roll in the face, but sparkled in Alex's heart.
At last, he compromised. He walked into the restaurant slowly.
Busy looking for a seat, just like every time he dined out, he greeted the receptionist politely, and the receptionist was distressed by the corn's voice. "Would you please give me the table from the two guests who have just left, will you?
Alex smiled, spoiled, and let nature took its course.
