Chapter 104: Chapter 104
Chapter 106 Mother's promise
Despite Housekeeper Geno's repeated remarks, Secretary Gerald always spoke with vigilance, politeness and indifference.
"Housekeeper Geno, is there anything important?"
Clear pursuit. In Secretary Gerald's eyes, he hinted that Housekeeper Geno had not left the Hagreaves family because of something. He had shown a face full of disgust.
The words were ignored by Secretary Gerald and Housekeeper Geno was filled with anger. He turned and went straight to the door.
Mr. Geno walked very slowly.
As soon as he walked out of the Hagreaves family home, Mr. Geno stepped inside a private car parked outside. "I must get Alex' trust back!"
Gerald returned to Alex' room again and looked at the drunken man lying unconscious on the bed. he sighed helplessly and quietly left the room.
After Elly left the Alex' house, he was often the one who took the drunk master home from the bar.
When the door closed, the corner of his eye caught a small figure in the dark corner of the hall. Gerald was not surprised. He acted in a hurry and rushed. You didn't listen to me again. Shall I take you back to your bedroom?"
Kitten crouched on the floor, his head buried on his arms and he choked with a quick hiccup. Gerald squatted beside him also, he rubbed Kittens hair lovingly. "Who bullied our baby? Tell me. We will take revenge and hit them on the face."
After he heard the assurance, Kitten looked up, his face was full of tears, his eyes were red and swollen, and he looked very pitiful.
Gerald said this only to coax him not to cry, "Tell me, who bullied our baby?"
"My mom."
Gerald was silent and his face changed obviously. He tilted his head and thought about how he would convince Kitten.
"Dear, we are men, we can't hit girls, aren't you a child who loves his mothet the most? Do you agree with me?"
"I knew it! You had no intention to fulfill your promise!" His lips despised him.
This. For the first time, Gerald, the all-around secretary, was at a loss in front of a difficult child.
"I don't want you to be mad at your mother."
Kitten was very naive, and the simple world of this child made him feel distressed.
"Good boy, this is an adult's business. Your parents will take care of it. Let's not interfere, shall we? I'll take you back to your room and read you a story."
"No, no!" Kitten's little mouth said angrily. He stood up and pushed his body with his hands in the midst of tears. "My mother lied. All of you are lying!I hate all of you."
Gerald tried all kinds of cajoling methods but the Kitten only cried louder, he was afraid that he would be exhausted when he cried again, and he wanted to try to convince Elly again.
Elly stood in the hospital hall for a long time when her mind calmly returned. She made her way to the room. Before she put her hand on the doorknob, her phone rang again. She looked at the name of the caller and saw that it was Gerald. She doesn't want to answer his call but she changed her mind because Geraldl has been helping her all this time. She can't be rude.
Gerald was surprised that she answered the phone quickly. "Elly, you should go back to the Hagreaves' house. Your son was still crying and I'm afraid he'll be very exhausted."
"Can you coax him for me? I am in the hospital right now."
"Kitten is your child. You have the responsibility because you are his mother. Kitten was crying because he missed you and he wanted to be with you. Are you still indifferent?" Gerald asked coldly, his stern voice was exasperated. Kitten was just a kid.
"I'll be there in a moment."
Gerald's words woke her up. She would alway say how much she loved her son and that she wanted to make up for all these years they are not together, but her actions are different. What she did to her son was cruel.
After she hang up the phone, Elly opened the door and discussed with Emily. "Sister, Secretary Gerald just called to say that Kitten cried bitterly and wanted to see me. If I don't come, he won't rest."
Elly was a little embarrassed because she was afraid that Emily would not be happy to hear that she would be going back to Alexi house.
As expected, Emily nodded. "You go, don't make the child sad."
Emily took the initiative to clasp Elly's hand and she spoke freely. "Kitten was just a baby. What happened between me and Alex has nothing to do with the child."
Elly was moved. She said thank you and stood. She intended to leave immediately but Emily suddenly put forward a suggestion to show her generosity. "Kitten was also a descendant of the Russel family. Why don't we raise the child and have him live with us?"
Emily's suggestion surprised her.
She would do anything, but Kitten could not be involved in these feuds and she did not want him to be used as a tool of revenge.
Elly smiled reluctantly and flatly refused. "I don't have time to take care of her now."
Elly's words were still unfinished. The reason why Emily was hospitalized was because of the feud between her family and Alex. She wisely shut her mouth and stopped bringing up the subject.
Elly left the hospital and rode a taxi in order for her to be with Kitten as soon as possible. She was very impatient along the way. Elly stood outside Hagreaves' family home but Elly hesitated again.
If only Alex hadn't fainted because he was drunk, she would never have come back. Elly's footsteps were even heavier, and she walked into the Hagreave's villa.
"There was no need for you to ring the bell. The door of the villa is open." Elly's face was a little stiff when she heard what the housekeeper said.
Housekeeper Geno's attitude was still friendly and polite and there was a glimmer of joy in his eyes. Master Kitten was sitting in the hallway on the second floor outside his master's door, crying. No matter how we coaxed him, he couldn't stop crying."
"Let me see him."
Elly went up to the second floor and caught a glimpse of her child curled into a ball. The little boy's sense of helplessness made her felt very sad.
When Mr. Gerald saw her coming, he left with housekeeper Geno.
"Kitten."
Kitten was very tired from crying because he cried non-stop. He was so dizzy that he could not even hear the call of his mother.
"Kitten, let us go to sleep." Elly coaxed her gently.
Kitten raised his head and looked at the person next to him who thought was just an illusion. He hiccupped several times and said boldly. "Mom?"
As Kitten received a familiar smile of love, he threw his small arms on Elly and burst into tears. "Mom! I know you won't lie to me when you promised me that you will never leave me. I knew you'd be back. You wouldn't leave me, would you?"
Kitten's trust was like a hard slap on Elly's face, it made her fully awake and aware of how important her promise was to him.
Elly bent down and hugged her son, his small eyes swollen red, but his mouth smiled from ear to ear and looked at her happily. Her heart was full of sadness, and she wanted to cry with her baby.
She thought she could make up for the lack of maternal love, but she was forever in debt. Even her promise was not fulfilled properly.
"Mom's not good. I've kept Kitten waiting for too long." Elly did not say sorry, because apologizing was not enough to make up for the relationship between her and her son.
"I love you so much." Kitten put his arms around her neck and insisted on her whispering. "I love you, Mom. Don't go away. I love you, mom. Don't leave me, mom."
Elly did not know how much effort she had to exert so as not to shed tears for every repetition of love from her child.
As she held Kitten on her arms, Kitten's nerves relaxed and he fell asleep slowly.
When she tried to leave, she saw the little hand Kitten clasped tightly on her index finger. With a tight grip, Elly saw the glare on his lips and his smile was distorted.
She lowered her face and kissed him on the. She carefully took off his little finger and readjusted Kitten's position. She stood by the bed for a long time, opened her hand again, repeated it several times, and finally suppressed her desire to touch his hair. Elly was afraid that she was not determined to leave.
She left quickly, she dared not look at the face of her son, sleeping quietly under the orange light.
As soon as Elly closed the door, her arm was pulled rudely and before she could figure out anything, her back slammed against the wall.
