Chapter 103 After leaving Alex house

Elly did not want to take the key from Alex' hand. She considered the current situation and she did not know what she should do.

"I understand your heart." lex gently put the keys in her hand. "As soon as you get a job and have the conditions to rent, it's not too late to move out."

She blushed because he saw through her and the keys in her hand became heavy because Alex left her with no chance to refuse.

She looked at the door as it closed, There was a chaotic flow of emotion on Elly's heart Everything was not clear to her.

When she left the room to pay the medical bills, all the bodyguard has been removed as she requested.

Elly was confused about Alex' concern. Maybe he just wanted to protect her but after she discovered who he truly was, she knew she couldn't accept his kindness. She was afraid of honesty and hypocrisy.

When she left Alex' house, Elly seemed to have dropped something from her heart. Her heart was so empty that even if she spent her whole day busy, she won't be able to breathe a sigh of relief.

Alex' small house in the city was very clean and had obviously just been cleaned up.

'Do you think he will come here? Can you accurately read his mind?' Many questions that came to her mind made her even more confused.

Without an answer, Elly put her feelings aside. She needed to find a stable job.

Elly thought it was difficult to find a job. Anyway, she didn't have much work experience but she didn't expect that a company would call her immediately, when she had just sent her resume.

"Hello, Miss Russel! Golden Gate Company has approved your letter of appointment for the position of assistant director. The interview will take place tomorrow. We will send the time and place to your email. Please check it."

"Thank you!" Elly was surprised for a few seconds and then laughed happily. She hadn't been so happy in a long time.

After that incident, she got approval with all the company she submitted her resume and she received several phone calls for an interview. Elly was very proud of herself for the first time.

The next day, Elly dressed politely to express the importance of the interview to her. She went to Golden Gate Group.

The interviewer was more friendly than she thought and Elly answered questions about her major qualifications quite smoothly.

"Have you ever worked at Hargreaves Company before?"

Elly smiled calmly and nodded. "Yes."

"What position?"

"I was the Chairman's secretary." Elly answered honestly without hesitation.

The interviewers looked at each other and made a decision directly. "We think you are suitable for the position. You can start your work tomorrow."

"Thank you!" Elly hid her surprise with a standard smile.

The salary offered by Golden Gate Group was not lower than what she earned from her job ealier.

On the way back, Elly recognized the Golden Gate Group near the Hargreaves Company, which made her think involuntarily. 'Was it a coincidence that she found a job in just a few days with a good salary?'

With that, she blamed herself again. It's all over! It didn't matter to me now. I would only focus on having a stable life.

Finding a house was not as smooth as she had hoped. The motel near her company was far more than she could afford.

After some time, she finally found a clean and simple house. Although it was far from the shopping center and to the office in which she needed to change buses three times, at least it was affordable.

After she paid the rent, she only had a few dollars left in her wallet. As she looked at the poor penny, she felt weak and she was disappointed in herself.

She ate shrimp noodles because that was the only food she can afford. The good thing was, she felt more comfortable in her current situation. Although she was poor, she was able to have freedom.

She moved her things from Alex' small house to her motel. After she was done, she sent him a text message.

"I got a job and I was able to rent a new house. Can you ask Gerald to get the keys?" she texted.

She did not expect that the person who came to get the keys was Alex. "Why are you here?" She stammered.

"Gerald had other things to do."

With the keys in his hand, Alex asked calmly. "Where do you live? Is it far from here?"

"Very far!" Elly roared through her teeth.

Alex asked he again. "Can I give you a ride?"

"No, thank you!" Elly declined politely in a strange tone. "I think I can go home by myself. Don't bother."

"I like trouble. As soon as I finished working, I saw you and you were unhappy again. Well, I won't force you but it is a good thing that I can talk to you peacefully now."

Alex knew Elly hated him, so he didn't force her.

"This was your salary from Moore's company. The compensation for your dismissal at the company was also in it. Mr. Decker gave you this payroll."

Elly's dismissal was decided after her engagement to Alex and not because the company forcibly terminated her contract.

She looked hesitantly at the pay card when an idea flashed through her mind. She nodded to accept the compensation.

When Alex drove away, Elly pressed a number and went to a nearby cafe.

Half an hour later, the bar door opened and Emily came in with a cheerful face and looked at her with enthusiasm.

"Madeline, what's the emergency?"

When the waiter brought the menu, she was no longer arrogant because the drinks here were mediocre and her gentle attitude gave people the impression that she was a completely different person.

Elly put the payroll card on the table and pushed it to Emily.

"You can withdraw 500,000 dollars from this card. Although not much, it still has the effect of prolonging the repayment time. Take it. I'll find another way."

Emily felt guilty because of Elly's kindness. For the first time, she was humiliated by the lies she made up.

"Where did you get this?"

"Alex gave the salary and contract compensation after dismissal from my previous contract." Elly did not hide it.

Alex fired Elly? Emily hurriedly picked up the coffee cup and drank it. She gritted her teeth because of jealousy. She knew that the dismissal was to protect Elly. Although Elly misunderstood and hated him, Alex used various ways to protect her.

"Take it. You're welcome." When she saw that Emily was silent, Elly stood up and stuffed the card into Emily's bag.

Emily hurriedly gave the card back and immediately warned Elly, showing a shy expression. Elly, if Dad were to discover that I took your money, he would scold me."

Elly just smiled reluctantly and didn't care what she said. In the present world, she knew that no one should be trusted except herself.

A week later, Elly's trust was still on alert. She received a call from Emily while she was working. Her voice was frightened. "Madeline, go home, the creditor went to our house and was forcing us to leave the house."

Elly hurriedly asked the manager to go home early and then she drove to Russel's family home.

The door was locked from the inside. Mr. Russel's groans of pain and Emily's cries reached Elly's heart. She slammed the door and shouted.

"Open the door! If you won't open the door, I'll call the police."

Mr. Russel shouted, quarreled and fought, and yelled loudly. "Madeline, don't come in."

Emily burst into tears.

Elly panicked and hurriedly kicked the door. She knew it was illegal to open the door and hit someone but the situation required it.

The door suddenly opened and Elly came in. She was grabbed by one arm and was dragged across the floor.

The door slammed shut and Elly was thrown down. She hurriedly stood up and scanned the room.

She saw Mr. Russel lay unconscious on the ground. Emily was beside him she was crying bitterly. The corners of his mouth were torn, and his red face was marked with five handprints.

She saw four men with tattooed bald heads.

"I though you just needed money? Why did you had to hit someone? If you caused a fatal injury, who will you ask for a debt?" Elly's cold face was expressionless and her eyes were sharp.

"Who are you? What is your relationship with this old man?" The man with a knife in his hands stared at Elly's eyes. "If you want to save him, pay us back or it will cost your lives."
