Chapter 42: Chapter 42
Sadeeq peeled his eyes off the door and his heart broke silently at the painful look he saw in Ihsan's eyes. He wanted all that to end today, that's why he brought Noor with him, so she could assure her that they were never a thing but friends. He didn't know she knew that Aashif of a guy, but he was glad, atleast he had someone to look at, not just his wife.
It was a miracle how he didn't insult his whole generations yesterday and calmly told him she was sick and admitted into a hospital. It got to the point he even told him the hospital and the room number. And how he came in and met them, he had never regretted anything like how he regretted ever telling Aashif about Ihsan being sick. It was excruciatingly painful.
"Vardah, I'm sorry I was late." Even though before he came in he went to the doctor's office and he told him she had even spoke without the 48hrs reaching, he knew she wouldn't speak a word to him, not when he had brought his brown haired ogle girlfriend. Again.
If only she would understand why he brought her was for her. For them. He wanted to apologize properly without her pulling her unending tantrums. But it was like it was never going to happen. How she acted like she had shunned him not just physically but emotionally as well. It was as if how humans act when they finish off an ice cream, you can't expect them to keep the bowl of it no matter how that ice cream tasted before it. That's how she acted towards him. So cold, so raw and done with.
Before she could speak a word, an infuriated Noor barged into the room and walked to the middle of it. Aashif was behind her, and he had his face red from anger as well. Ihsan wondered what was wrong with these people. Before she could make an inquiry, Noor started speaking, and she didn't stopped until she broke the two hearts that were on the staircases of what should be called love.
"My name is Noor Rashid bin Isa Al khalifa. My father is the late brother of Hamad bin Isa Al khalifa. I'm sure you know who that means, his royal highness. The king of Bahrain. I'm a cousin to this person, here...he calls me Noora. We were the best of buddies before his Umm died and Malik-the king betrothed him to me, or in his words, betrothed me to him. Ihsan, I want to make this clear to you, I'm not into your husband, I don't love your husband. Even though our betrothal means nothing to us and we've practically dissolved it by ourselves it's just a matter of time the palace knows, I have someone I might consider not your husband. Even though, No Love In Bahrain. Forgive him, he really loves you with all his heart. Aashif Hamad would never ever marry you, not because you don't deserve him, but because his pathetic brain knows too; even though it might be smart of him if he accepts it early, but he's not-that Malik would never ever let him marry someone that's not into the royal bloodline. And besides, who marries a married woman? No one I guess. I'm sorry, but your husband loves you and your crazy self love him too. Rekindle your bond, he's an amazing person. I'm sorry for what happened, I really am."
And furiously, she had her handbag clutched in her arms and was halfway through the door when Aashif held her wrist, his eyes had turned bloodshot, he couldn't believe what he heard her said a minute ago. About their relationship, he didn't because he had the intention of telling Ihsan that himself. But what he just heard, that Ihsan is married, to someone other than. Already married. All this while he had admired a married woman, Ya Ilahi! Umm would've been disappointed in him if she were to know. But she's not here, but a part of her still lived.
"Repeat what you said! You can't just utter your gibberish and think you'll get out of here scot free. How dare you, Noora?!" He thundered but she flung her wrist out of his hold and looked between his face, Sadeeq's relieved and thankful face, and the heartbroken face of Ihsan.
"I'm sorry, Mr. I don't do love. Oh well, that's in Bahrain after all. Yes, Zainab Ibrahim Karaye is married a couple of months ago to no one bu him..." she pointed at Sadeeq and continued "Sadeeq Abubakar Argungun. Ask her yourself if you don't believe me. If you'll excuse me." She rolled her eyes at him and walked out of the room. They all heard the smacks of her heeled shoes on the tiles on the hallway. Sadeeq knew she would cry. So this was the person she was talking about? Now it made sense. Ihsan was the lady he hanged out on festival day with when Noor saw him with a lady. If only Ihsan knew how circled it was, she wouldn't have did what she did.
Aashif dejectedly walked towards Sadeeq and squeezed his shoulder clearly. "I'm sorry, I'm so sorry please. I thought she was your sister, she never mentioned it to me. And I didn't thought of it when she said she lives with her brother. Please forgive my ignorance." His wyes were aching to look at Ihsan but he knew he couldn't. He had taken a step forward, just a look at her would bring him ten steps backwards.
Sadeeq shook hands with him and smiled, even though it was a pretense to make him feel less guilty, but he did. "It's fine, we had a condition not to mention we're married to anyone, that's why she has never told you. I'm sorry this happened between you and Noor. I didn't know the relationship between you too I wouldn't have brought her along."
Aashif only nodded his head, for what looked like a nanosecond, he glanced at Ihsan and she was crying now. She wanted to insult him and apologize to him altogether but she was tongue tied. Right there sitting, was her husband. She couldn't. Let her deal with the sin first, it now all dawned on her. She had been sinning. Admiring someone that wasn't hers to admire. Almost loving someone that was not her Halal. Ya Rabb.
She heard as the door closed behind Aashif and she sucked in her breath, just when a call came in her phone and it was Maama. Sadeeq lifted the phone to receive the call when she shook her head at him. "Text her that I'm asleep, I can't speak now. You should leave too." Her tone was soft and regretting. All Noor said was making a comeback in her mind. She said Sadeeq loved her and her crazy self loved him too. How true or false? She had to weigh.
"Vardah..." she shook her head again. "Please!" She begged, if only she could tell him how irritating that name sound as, but she restrained herself.
He nodded and placed the bowl on the nightstand before he silently walked out. He walked directly to the doctor's office and requested for a more spacious room with a more wider bed. He had planned on spending the night together with her from now on until she was released and they head back to Nigeria for the holidays. Even in Nigeria, it's either they stay both in Abbu's house or Daada's, there is no way he was letting her alone all by herself. He couldn't take it for another man to take away his Vardah. If Aashif didn't work out, another might. He shouldn't be left at protecting what is his.
Ihsan was deep into thoughts when the nurses came in and wheeled her to the new room Sadeeq got for them. It had an Italian bed and looked more comfortable than the other room. She smiled when she was being laid on the bed by the nurses. Enough space for her sleep comfortably.
Aashif led her on, or rather; she led him on. They both made a mistake, but hers was even sinner than his. He was ignorant of the fact that she was married, and his own wasn't even a sin. A man can marry four wives if he liked.
A soft knock came on the door and Sadeeq came in smiling widely at her, even though there was a begging tone laid on the layers of his eyes. "Vardah! Guess who we have as guests. It's Marwah with a baby and her husband!" Ihsan nearly jerked upright at that. Did she really came? Oh Allah!
Before Ihsan could say a word, Marwa came in holding her Baby and her Husband Aadil tailing behind, their faces full of smiles. She walked towards Ihsan on the bed and sat down, "I'm here with your Baby, Ihsan. How are you feeling?" She lovingly asked with a smile. Ihsan grinned from ear to ear, for the first time in days, their eyes met with Sadeeq's and she shot him a very beautiful smile. She was happy. Beyond amazed.
