Chapter 17: Chapter 17
ANGELIQUE SLOAN’s POV
“What’s the point of getting your hopes high that Greyson would still go back to you? You should get over it and move on, Airi… past is past. There are still plenty of men out there who’s way better than him either way,” I murmured, despite knowing that whatever I’d say would actually have no effect on her or whatever it was that she’s scheming.
“You’re one to talk, Angelique. Don’t forget that we’re basically in the same situation — stop pretending as if Greyson has serious romantic affection for you,” Airi grunted while she was staring at her fingernails with her eyes full of amusement, as if to tell me that she really doesn’t care about a word that I’ll say. “I appreciate your help though.” A smirk was shown on her lips as she walked closer to where Greyson was.
I’m getting this weird feeling that I’m somehow inside a dream that I started upon my will. This wasn’t the first time that I felt this way. It was the same back from the day that Greyson gave me that ring. The only difference that I’m getting right now is the fact that I’m worried about the things that Airi was capable of, since it seems like everything that’s happening as of this moment was according to her plan, and that I’m just going along with it just like what she wanted.
“Greyson, my love, come here…” Airi’s way of talking was altered into another tune. And mind you, it was amazingly pleasing to my ears. It wasn’t the type of voice that would make everyone else despise her. While she was talking a while ago, she kept on tapping her thighs and slightly pulling her skirt upwards to reveal her skin. “You’ve got no one else to rely on other than me, love. You should return to me and get rid of that woman as soon as possible before everything gets out of hand. I’m trying my best here to endure how you’re treating me now after all of what we’ve committed together as one,” she whispered to his ear, still loud enough for me to hear.
I’ve gritted my teeth countless times and I’m sure that by now, she could feel that I’m getting triggered with what she’s doing. “Was this your intention all along, Airi?” I asked, not hoping for a response. I just needed to get myself to speak so that she would not be able to ridicule me that much.
God knows just how strong the disappointment that I have stored for Airi as of this moment, and I don’t even know if I would be able to forgive her for toying with me like this. I was such a fool to believe that she actually pitied me that I would fall in the same unfortunate experience that she has gone through with the hands of Greyson.
“L-love…” Greyson murmured what’s supposed to be their endearment.
That was the point when my mind went blank for a few seconds. I wasn’t expecting that they really were into that kind of relationship. Judging from the stories that Greyson told me lately, I knew from the start that he had several flings before. That there were a lot of women who were willing to cast away their dignity just for the sake of gaining money.
“That’s it, love. Yearn for me. You’ve only got me for the rest of your life, no one else would be able to replace the love I’ve given you,” Airi said, which disrupted my thoughts.
That’s it.
This is enough.
I hurried over to where Airi was and grabbed her by her shoulder to pull her away from the man that I love. “Stop this right now, Airi.” I should have known that Greyson was the one in danger and not the other way around. I should have never doubted him from the beginning. I shouldn’t have believed the lies, the way that she deceived me. There must have been some kind of effect placed on her lipstick that she put on my lips, which diverted Greyson’s mind elsewhere — to a world where he sees no one other than Airi herself.
I was kind of expecting that Greyson would team up with me, but it turned out differently. “Get out of my sight, Angelique Sloan.” He sided with Airi.
“But, G-Greyson…”
“No buts! Get out,” he repeated.
Even though he said those words with anger, it didn’t sink in to me in that manner. His eyes were contradicting his words.
There must be a way to get him to snap out of it.
“Are you deaf or are you basically numb inside? You heard Greyson, get out of his sight this instant, Angelique,” Airi mumbled, which I didn’t give any attention to.
Greyson kept on staring at me despite being under the hypnosis of Airi. He seemed to appear like someone who’s begging to be saved, and was anticipating that I’d be able to understand what those emotions in his eyes were telling me. Even if it was kind of meaningless, I gave him a nod of my head.
I don’t care if I’d look like a lunatic right in front of the manipulator herself, Airi.
“Hey, where do you think you’re going?” Airi attempted to stop me from reaching Greyson’s vicinity, but was unable to do so as I was stubborn enough to get rid of her grasp.
“Greyson… I’m doing this for your sake, I know that you’d apprehend soon,” I talked under my breath as I harshly removed the lipstick from my lips before I tiptoed to reach for his chin. I carefully held both sides as I tilted his head down to me to give him a kiss.
“Angelique, don’t!” Airi yelled and I can only imagine the distrust on her expression now as she watches me ruin the plan that she initiated.
Greyson didn’t move an inch from the position that I’ve placed ourselves in. He was frozen there like a statue and I was the only one who was focused on our kiss. “A-Angelique…” Not until he came back to his senses and forcefully entered his tongue onto my mouth as if he was ravishing me.
Our night seemed to go by so quickly as both of us were thirsty for the love of one another, totally forgetting the occurrence between him and Airi.
