Chapter 76: Chapter 76
In the days after returning to work, Primrose had a lot of free time and planned the upcoming trip with Nancy for the two of them and their boyfriends. Although it had been mentioned before, and furthermore, Brian and Joel had never had an official meeting, Primrose and Nancy were both eager to push for this trip.
Regarding the planning, since Primrose was currently the freest person in the company, she did most of the work. This ranged from choosing suitable places to visit to selecting a hotel. Concerning Primrose's choices, the others had no objections, so on a beautiful weekend morning, all four of them set off to Country A together.
Joel carried luggage for both Primrose and quietly followed behind, while Primrose cheerfully carried her handbag ahead. She excitedly held Nancy's hand, who was being helped with her suitcase by Brian, strolling and enjoying the city's scenery.
The two men glanced at each other and chuckled softly, suddenly feeling camaraderie.
After arriving at the hotel, the four of them collected their room cards and went back to their rooms. Brian and Nancy shared a room, and the remaining room was for Primrose and Joel. As soon as they opened the door, Primrose flopped onto the spacious bed and sighed in exhaustion.
"So sleepy. If I had known, I wouldn't have booked the early flight."
Primrose yawned repeatedly. She wanted to have more time for sightseeing, so she booked an early morning flight. Little did she know that she would struggle to wake up this morning and barely make it to the flight on time. If it weren't for Joel helping her with her luggage and getting her to the airport on time, she might still be deeply asleep in the comfortable bed at her home.
Fortunately, the weather in City A was wonderful. It was summer, so the sky was blue, and the golden sunrays covered the space, creating a warm and fresh feeling. The gentle breeze blew comfortably, and the sunlight was not too harsh, making it perfect for a stroll.
"Alright, sweetie, you should freshen up and change into a dress. Didn't you want to go on a boat to see the sea?"
Joel carefully organized their belongings in the empty drawers, reminding Primrose gently. At this moment, she finally remembered their initial plan. She got up lazily, did her makeup slowly, and changed into a light blue dress with a lovely flared hem. By the time a soft knock on the door sounded, Primrose was ready.
Joel turned to open the door and saw Brian and Nancy standing outside, looking excited. They cheerfully said, "Is Primrose ready? We're done."
Primrose put on her handbag and confirmed she was ready. The four of them left together and headed to the pre-booked cruise spot. They had arranged a private tour, so there were only four of them and a boat driver. They would take a leisurely time around the vast beach.
As they set off, Primrose and Nancy looked at the sky through the window frame and repeatedly marveled at the beautiful and serene nature here. The crystal-clear seawater looked almost reflective, and under the gentle sunshine, it seemed to sparkle and shine.
The sky was dotted with a few white, fluffy clouds, and in the distance, there were faint glimpses of small islands on the horizon. Primrose and Nancy left the bustling cityscape behind and enjoyed the fresh, cool air at this place.
"Joel, I want to have a cocktail."
After chatting with Nancy for a while, Primrose felt thirsty. She tilted her head to find Joel, who was chatting with Brian at the back. Joel immediately got up, poured her a gentle blue cocktail, and then carefully handed it to her, just as he usually did.
"Oh, it's so sweet, Primrose. I'm really jealous," Nancy teased, raising an eyebrow playfully. Seeing this harmonious scene, Primrose's cheeks turned a shade of red. At home, she had gotten used to Joel feeding her and taking care of her needs. She didn't bother to change this habit now.
"Do you want to drink too? Your boyfriend can also feed you."
Brian approached from behind, gently brushing Nancy's hair as he spoke. Nancy nodded and then also leaned back to enjoy the cold cocktail that Brian fed her. The atmosphere was oddly harmonious.
After taking a tour of the sea, lunchtime arrived. The four of them disembarked from the cruise and had lunch at a nearby five-star restaurant, savoring the most famous grilled dishes in the place.
"This restaurant is renowned for its skewered grilled meat. They say the meat is perfectly marinated and grilled on skewers, giving it a distinct flavor that's both delicious and unique."
While waiting for their food, Primrose chatted away with her chin on her hand. At this time, Joel was busy helping her tie up her long, wavy hair to make eating more comfortable; his movements were both smooth and nimble. As their relationship grew closer, Joel's care for Primrose became increasingly seamless.
Joel carefully separated the meat from the skewer and placed it neatly on Primrose's plate. She obediently finished them all. Seeing this scene, Nancy took a sip of her drink and playfully raised her eyebrows.
"Wow, Primrose, you're truly admired. Your husband takes such good care of you."
Once Joel and Primrose turned back, Nancy actively teased them, often making Primrose blush. She felt that Joel's treatment of Primrose was excellent, and he was reliable. So, Primrose was able to entrust herself to Joel with confidence.
Without needing to look, she knew Primrose's face was reddening again. She glared at Nancy with a pouting expression, which only made Primrose laugh more happily. She was about to add something, but Brian, next to her, had already fed her a piece of grilled meat skewer, deliciously golden brown.
"No need to admire; you have that too."
Nancy casually took a bite, then Brian handed her a tissue to wipe her mouth. Primrose imitated the gentle tone mixed with Nancy's teasing from earlier and spoke up.
"Nancy, your boyfriend treats you so well."
The four of them burst into laughter together, enjoying the cheerful atmosphere.
"Alright, Primrose, would you like some more grilled meat skewers?"
Seeing Primrose's plate was empty, Joel asked softly. The meat here was indeed deliciously marinated, and the unique addition of bell peppers and pineapple made the flavor even more novel. Primrose nodded, and Joel helped her separate another skewer of grilled meat, which she daintily ate with her fork before taking a sip of her drink. She tilted her head to look at Joel, who was leisurely eating next to her, then glanced at the sharp angle of his side profile and the bridge of his straight nose. She thought deeply about what Nancy had said before.
"Joel is the perfect candidate for marriage, and he's the most suitable husband for you."
Previously, Primrose had just listened to these words without thinking much about them. However, reality constantly proved that Nancy's words were completely accurate. A careful and patient man like Joel easily smoothed over any of her unwarranted anger, and his tenderness could even calm her down when she was feeling restless or rebellious. It was a perfect combination.
Just like how, no matter what happened or how things changed around her, Primrose was determined to meet her in life and to be by his side. Suddenly, Primrose wished that time would freeze at this moment when she could experience the joyful feeling with her close friends, enjoy delicious food, and admire the beautiful scenery of the city.
After finishing their meal, the four of them took a taxi back to the hotel, taking a rest for a while after the morning outing and recharging their energy for the afternoon to continue their journey of exploring the new country.
