Chapter 70: Chapter 70

Sitting down to eat for about half an hour, Joel accidentally dropped a piece of goose liver on his clothes, staining the hem. He gently told Primrose to wait for a moment and quickly went to the restroom. As he left, Primrose didn't continue eating; he only sat upright in silence and looked around, waiting for him to return.

She observed the surroundings for a while. Although this was a restaurant meant for couples, there were also many groups of friends here, probably because the food was delicious and the service was professional. While she was admiring the scene, someone took a seat at Joel's place, and a glimpse of a black dress shirt caught Primrose's eye. She thought Joel had returned and was about to speak when she saw the face of an unfamiliar man.

"Beautiful girl, are you here with a friend? Your friend is not here; can I sit at the same table with you? Let's get to know each other a bit." The man said it playfully, making Primrose raise an eyebrow unconsciously. She observed him closely. His striking red-dyed hair, a sparkling silver earring on his ear, and the wild yet impetuous demeanor of a young man He slightly curled his lips in a provocative manner, apparently confident in himself, so he even ran his fingers through his hair and winked at Primrose contentedly.

Primrose's lips curled in a slightly teasing manner. She seemed quite confident in facing his appearance, so she even played with her hair and winked back at him, showing her amusement. This youthful and immature appearance had never been Primrose's taste. In fact, she even found it slightly annoying. She stared coldly at the red-haired man and silently refused his advances.

"Sorry, I don't want to get acquainted. Furthermore, my friend will be back soon. Please leave quickly," Primrose said patiently. However, the man across from her deliberately misunderstood her and continued to wink at her, mocking her in response.

"It's just meeting someone new. There is no need to be so cold. Here, give me your contact information. I'll invite you and your friend to this meal. Isn't that enough to prove my sincerity?"

Primrose suppressed her anger and the urge to scold him. Just as she was about to respond, a familiar voice rang out.

"Proving sincerity seems inadequate. She is my wife, so naturally, you can't just casually ask for her contact details, you idiot."

"Before trying to get acquainted with her, you should take a look in the mirror to see if your face is even worth it."

"With such an ugly appearance and such a lack of seriousness, you dare to flirt around. She rejected you, yet you're still clinging. Your skin is quite thick."

Joel stepped in and delivered a series of remarks, successfully leaving the red-haired man flabbergasted. Primrose suppressed her laughter. Joel's speaking skills were always excellent, but she never expected him to have the confidence to respond so confidently, making others unable to raise their heads in a comeback. She looked at the red-haired man and suddenly felt a hint of pity.

At first, he had been so confident, but now he seemed self-conscious, unable to utter a word. He appeared somewhat pitiful after being mocked like this. After being taunted, the red-haired man no longer lingered and left with a dark expression. Joel turned his gaze towards the empty seat with a slightly bored expression and hesitated to sit down.

"Sweetie, it seems next time I should just keep you at home and have a romantic dinner there."

"Every time I take you out, someone else approaches you within seconds. It's really infuriating."

Primrose laughed at Joel's words and saw that he hesitated to sit, probably because he disliked the seat that had been occupied by someone else. She smiled, stood up, and whispered in Joel's ear.

"Alright, we're almost done eating anyway. Shall we leave? The seat is dirty now, so we can't continue eating."

Joel no longer felt like eating either. He patted Primrose's head and left the restaurant with her, muttering a few more curses at the red-haired man from earlier.

"That guy clearly looked like someone irresponsible and unaccomplished. He probably doesn't have a stable job and just depends on his family."

"You absolutely shouldn't get close to people like that, and don't let them get to know you. Those guys are experts at deceiving emotions. Getting to know them is out of the question. They clearly just want to woo you and spend your money."

Joel spoke a lot, and his patience had worn thin. The romantic date ended with discomfort, leaving him unsatisfied. It was a lie to say he wasn't disappointed.

"Alright, I definitely won't interact with people like that. I just want to get to know my husband."

Primrose laughed and reassured Joel, taking his hand as they approached the car. Joel's mood improved visibly, and Primrose was satisfied with this conclusion.

"Right, only your husband is trustworthy, sweetie."

Primrose nodded repeatedly, making Joel feel quite comfortable. After getting in the car, he held Primrose tightly, feeling the softness of the woman in his arms. He finally felt a sense of reality. Every time he saw another man approach Primrose, Joel felt a mixture of annoyance and worry that Primrose might start to like them and not need him anymore.

On the way back, the two of them still didn't communicate too much, but their state was harmonious. Primrose opened the car window to feel the cool and refreshing night breeze, letting it wash away the discomfort and unhappiness from the earlier outing. She leaned back in the backseat, placing her hand on her knee earnestly, but slightly leaning towards Joel in a teasing manner.

"Why is your face as cold as ice? It scares me."

Primrose's tongue was lightly poked out, its softness and gentleness delighting Joel's ears as if a small hook had caught onto his heart and warmth spread through it. Joel's stern expression softened a bit, and though he still focused on driving, the slight curve of his previously pressed lips now lifted, his face relaxed, and his low voice conveyed a sense of tenderness from the top of Primrose's head.

"Is this better now? Handsomer than the red-haired guy from earlier?"

Primrose had wanted to tease Joel, but now she burst into laughter due to his playful response. Indeed, those who had approached her were still fresh in Joel's memory, and he enjoyed being jealous of them.

"Super handsome. Of course, he is much more handsome than that red-haired guy. He's ugly, even with his earrings. I especially dislike men who wear earrings."

Primrose said seriously and cautiously, and after speaking, she glanced at Joel to see his reaction. This was a difficult issue to resolve, one that Nancy couldn't have predicted either. Joel's mindset was quite different from Primrose's, and she hadn't foreseen his intentions.

Primrose's eyes were a bit innocent, and her lips twitched, unable to form words. This forced Joel to lightly tap a few words on the steering wheel impatiently before speaking.

'I know, you're just saying that to comfort me. There's no sincerity in it."

"Heartless woman, maybe I shouldn't trust you."

Recently, Joel liked to call Primrose by this nickname, leaving her unsure how to respond, but she could only laugh heartily to ease the situation.

"How could that be? I'm just imagining you wearing that earring."

"I've thought about it. Even if you wear an earring, you'd still be handsome. You'd still be the most handsome man in my heart."

Primrose spoke cautiously and seriously, her gaze remaining on Joel to gauge his reaction. Perhaps this sweet statement truly eased Joel's mind. His eyes softened, his grip on the steering wheel loosened, and his lips which were usually tightly pressed formed a curve, revealing a smile.

"In this case, I'm satisfied with your words.."

This chapter depicts a playful and romantic interaction between Primrose and Joel at a restaurant, followed by a humorous encounter with an unwanted admirer. Their chemistry and affection for each other shine through, offering a glimpse into their deep bond.
