Chapter 54: Chapter 54
The gentle and melodious tone of Joel's deep voice melted Primrose's heart for a moment. Joel had always been the kind of person with a cold and distant demeanor, but his voice was raspy and seductive, and every time he spoke sweet words of flattery, Primrose quickly found herself enchanted, her heart pounding wildly.
This time was no different. Joel's voice made Primrose's heart flutter, and her thoughts wandered to the romantic clouds on the horizon. She didn't know how to react to all of this.
Everything happened so quickly; misunderstandings arose and were resolved, making her feel like everything was just a dream. A beautiful and sweet dream
"Primrose, it's all my fault. I wasn't cautious and decisive enough, which led to Auntie's persistent interference and created these misunderstandings."
"Now that everything is clear, can't we avoid divorce? Primrose, I truly haven't cheated, nor have I ever entertained such thoughts."
Joel spoke sincerely, and every time divorce was mentioned, his heart ached tremendously. Moreover, Primrose's decision to leave made him feel increasingly desolate and powerless.
"Alright, let's not mention it anymore."
After being entangled in various conflicting thoughts, Primrose finally regained her composure. She raised her head and looked at Joel, a soft smile gracing her lips.
"So, can you come back home now? Everything you need is already there, and you can return whenever you want."
"If you want to go to Nancy's to get something else, I'll go with you and help you carry it."
Joel looked at Primrose happily, his eyes sparkling with anticipation. He was slightly excited, and his reaction was somewhat similar to that of a child.
"Very innocent," Primrose thought.
"Not in a hurry, I still need time to think. Besides, I haven't gotten over the fact that you let Auntie kiss me."
Primrose pretended to be angry, narrowing her eyes as she looked at Joel. If she hadn't witnessed that scene, maybe she wouldn't have decided to leave so soon. It was like a small stone thrown into a pond, causing ripples that completely shattered their relationship.
Moreover, seeing her husband kissing someone else made Primrose truly hurt and unable to accept it.
She still wanted to spend a few days calm down after all that had happened and continue enjoying the comfortable single life with Nancy. But even when she was with Joel, she found it difficult to let go completely.
Most importantly, Primrose needed time to clarify her feelings for Joel. She used to think she was only mildly interested in his appearance and personality, but when she saw him with someone else, the pain and despair were real.
It felt like something big was changing, something she wasn't brave enough to accept and face with Joel. She needed time to adapt and to explore her own heart, to determine how much affection she truly held for Joel, and whether it could be called love or not.
Primrose's rejection made Joel sigh heavily and remain constantly troubled. What good was resolving the trouble if he was still a lonely man living in a spacious house, feeling both dull and bored?
But at least Joel wasn't as sad as before. Things were gradually getting better, and Primrose needed time to adjust, just as he did. Now they could communicate and meet each other.
"Okay, then I'll go back to Nancy's place now; I'm tired," Primrose said when she regained her initial comfort. She avoided Joel's gaze a bit as he stood up. Joel also quickly stood up and reached out to hold Primrose's arm.
"Let me take you home. Even if we're not going home together, we don't need to be distant," he said, his gaze tender and burning with some intense emotion that made Primrose unable to look straight at him. She nodded lightly and walked ahead, with him following closely behind.
When they arrived at Nancy's place, the atmosphere was naturally different from when Joel first arrived. Primrose obediently sat in the car and waited for Joel to help her out of the passenger seat, then gently pulled her out.
"Goodbye, good night." Primrose waved casually and was about to leave when she unexpectedly found herself enveloped in a warm embrace. Joel's strong arms wrapped around her waist, and the familiar scent of his masculine cologne mixed with a hint of mint wafted into her nose, making her feel a little numb.
"Primrose, did you forget something?" Joel asked playfully, deliberately lowering his voice, so the last syllables sounded gentle and enticing, causing Primrose's cheeks to quickly turn red. She tried to push Joel away, but he held her tighter, and she could only ask in a soft voice, "What did I forget?"
"You forgot that we used to kiss each other every time we said goodbye. Don't you remember?" Joel chuckled and leaned closer to Primrose's ear, speaking softly, "Come on, can you help me get rid of the regret? We can kiss a few times, and that will be enough."
Earlier at Primrose's house, Joel didn't want to play tricks, but now with just the two of them and the misunderstandings resolved, Joel was happily teasing Primrose.
Seeing Primrose's reddened earlobes and her slightly avoiding gaze, Joel burst into laughter. It had been a while since they last met, and he didn't expect Primrose to still get embarrassed so easily.
"Don't want to? My dear wife?" Joel's voice, which was already attractive, deliberately became so alluring that it made the air around them turn sultry. Primrose bit her lips, pretending to be deaf, and tried to push Joel away, but he held her hand gently, intertwining their fingers together.
"Are you shy, sweetie? No worries, I can start first," Joel said affectionately, but this time he meant it. He couldn't resist the tenderness in his heart and leaned in to kiss Primrose's lips.
At first, it was a gentle kiss to make up for the longing they had for each other during their recent time apart. Then Joel felt like it wasn't enough, so he parted Primrose's lips, deepening the kiss. His breath mingled with hers, making Primrose feel dizzy, and she could only follow Joel's lead, making the kiss more passionate with each passing moment.
The streetlights illuminated the two of them standing affectionately next to each other, creating a harmonious and romantic scene. The rosy blush on Primrose's embarrassed face and Joel's gentle and affectionate gaze
In the end, when Primrose's breath became gentle, she lightly tapped Joel's shoulder to indicate that they should stop. Joel also didn't continue teasing and hugged Primrose tightly, laughing softly.
"How about it? Are you still jealous of Auntie? If you're still uncomfortable, we can continue until you feel happy," he teased.
At this moment, Primrose still felt warmth on her lips, and her whole body felt as if lost in a fog. She could only shake her head repeatedly, leaning obediently on Joel's shoulder, not daring to create trouble.
"That's enough, really," Primrose said.
Joel chuckled, gently stroking Primrose's soft, silky hair, feeling much more comfortable now.
"Go back and rest early. I have a surprise for you tomorrow, sweetie."
Primrose wanted to ask what it was, but Joel just smiled mysteriously and urged her to go home early. Primrose looked suspiciously into Joel's eyes, carrying her curiosity as she stepped inside the house.
