Chapter 13: Chapter 13

The atmosphere suddenly turned extremely awkward. Joel also had to clench his fist to try to stay calm.

He felt himself to be someone who was always cool in any situation, but right now, he was really angry.

This afternoon, when he saw Primrose saying he didn't need me to pick him up, laughing, and going with another man, he tried to be patient. After all, this is her colleague-and-friend relationship, he has no right to interfere with or forbid her from making friends.

After returning home, he also impatiently sat on the sofa, waiting for Primrose. When he received a text message telling her where she was, he tried to wait two more hours before driving to pick up Primrose, allowing his anger to subside before he came to find her.

However, when he arrived, he saw the person who was considered a "colleague" leaning close to her, looking at her with passionate eyes, and then confessing to her sweetly. If he didn't make it in time, what would Primrose's answer be?

On the one hand, the husband who was forced to marry her once rebelled to make her angry, on the other hand, a co-worker lives together in the early afternoon. How will Primrose choose? Will she choose a man who is intimately sitting side by side with her?

Primrose tilted her head to look at Joel, suddenly feeling very guilty. She sensed Joel's anger, but she didn't know how to deal with it. Anyway, she herself did not expect that Devis would like her.

"Is he your husband?"

Taking a few seconds to absorb the truth, Devis slowly asked Primrose back. He had always thought that Primrose was single, and she did not publicize her relationship status, so he was sure to confess her love like that.

Primrose nodded.

"Correct. We've been married for more than half a year."

After saying that, Primrose gently took Joel's hand as if to comfort him. In a crowded place, Joel didn't want to embarrass her, just glared at her, making her shrink.

"Sorry, I was in a hurry, I didn't know Primrose was married. Primrose, you can just take my words as drunk and lose your mind, I'm sorry."

Devis's drunken yeast was briefly destroyed by the current situation before sobering up a bit. He bit his lip, thinking that he was implicated in Primrose's conjugal love, repeatedly admitting his fault. But this is what makes Joel even more uncomfortable.

Primrose once said that she liked someone with a gentle personality, is this the type? This person also constantly advised him not to be angry with Primrose, everything was because of his haste, to provoke a severance of Primrose's relationship with him.

"Okay, I just came to pick up my wife, she can't drink too much. This is supposed to end here, you don't need to take it to heart."

In front of everyone, Joel was not inclined to argue, still showing a peaceful side. After saying that, he gently pulled Primrose's hand, the gesture was still very gentle.

"Primrose, let's go home."

Primrose did not dare to hesitate, even though she was slightly stunned, she quickly stood up, greeted everyone, and left with Joel. All found Joel's state to be normal, but Primrose guessed that this was just the calm before the storm.

Primrose's intuition was correct in all cases. On the way back, Joel was still good, but when he got home, he became a different person.

"Primrose, how would you explain this?"

Joel sat on the sofa with his arms crossed, coldly questioning. Primrose sat down slowly, suppressing the headache, and replied.

"How else could it be? You see, when Devis suddenly confessed to me, I was also surprised. I can assure you that there's nothing shady between us; we're both ordinary colleagues."

Primrose proved very innocent. She wasn't trying to seduce Devis either, why did Joel have to speak to her in such a cold tone?

"Common colleague, but you walk close to him, smiling like a flower? Just colleagues, but two people close to the dining table whispering loudly? What about saying you two have nothing? When he confessed his love just now, the distance between the two of you was so close that he only needed to bend down to kiss you."

Joel gradually lost his temper and raised his voice. Recently, the two of them get along very well, he has learned to be more gentle with her and wants to change to live with her for a long time.

What about her? Being blatantly close to the same colleague, is it that you want to openly commit adultery in front of him? Or did she inherently keep her original attitude, rejecting this marriage and hating him? That thought angered Joel.

"I've made it very clear, I didn't expect him to confess like that directly. Besides, I'm not the type of person whose husband still flirts with other people outside. What do you mean by that?"

Primrose was also angered at this time, her head aching more and more. Since when did Joel turn into such a dictator?

"What else can I mean? Primrose, if I didn't show up, would you agree with him?"

The dizziness made Primrose unable to stand; she leaned against the sofa and wearily spoke to Joel.

"Don't think of things this way. I told you that even if you don't show up, I won't agree to be with Devis. I do not like him."

After sitting for a while, Primrose still felt unwell in her body. Primrose turned decisively upstairs, leaving only an angry note.

"Believe it or not depends on you, I don’t care about it. I've said all that I should say."

Primrose went to great lengths to express her anger, clearly dissatisfied with Joel's attitude today. Although she could understand his feelings, that didn't mean he had the right to question her loudly and accuse her of being an adulterer. In this world, Primrose hates the most someone who makes her admit something she didn't do.

Both need time to calm down. Joel also needed time to reflect on his earlier words.

Alone in the large living room, Joel lowered his head to look at the floor and couldn't help but sigh repeatedly. He also didn't want to end up so unhappy.

However, he did not know how to save the present. His jealousy was so rampant that he couldn't control his emotions, which hurt him and caused him to hurt himself.

It was always clear in his mind that Primrose would not agree to be with the other coworker, but when his anger overwhelmed his reason, he spoke out against her reason and accused her. Because he was too afraid, afraid that Primrose would happily go to someone else and want to divorce him.

Joel sighed, feeling extremely miserable with the current situation. He slowly got up and went back to his room, secretly deciding to talk to Primrose again tomorrow after both of them had thought about these things carefully.

However, the next morning, Joel did not have a chance to clarify with Primrose. Primrose definitely went to work an hour earlier than usual, and before Joel woke up, she drove herself to work, not wanting to interact with him. At noon, Joel called her to say that he wanted to have dinner with her, and Primrose also coldly refused, obviously having no intention of communicating with Joel after yesterday's argument.

At noon, Devis cautiously approached Primrose, scratching his head shyly before speaking.

"Primrose, yesterday caused you trouble, I'm sorry. At that time, your husband's face was not very good, and when you returned, you two didn't have any conflicts, right?"

Devis is indeed very self-critical after yesterday's spontaneous confession. Uncertain about Primrose's relationship status, he has rushed to say that he wants to pursue her, making the situation awkward. Not to mention, Primrose and her husband may have misunderstood one of his words.

"No problem. Since I didn't make it public that I was married, you don't have to blame yourself."

Primrose didn't want to take her anger out on Devis. Anyway, his feelings for her are very sincere, moreover, people can't control their own hearts, and she doesn't want to raise her voice at him.

"If you two have an argument because of me, I can help you explain it to your husband."

Devis added, after yesterday, he was so guilty, now he can't even look Primrose in the eye. After one day, his words yesterday became very ridiculous.

"It's okay, our relationship is still good. We're going to have dinner together at a restaurant tonight."

Primrose lied to reassure Devis, who then left with a little peace of mind.

"So Devis still feels guilty about it?"
