Chapter 51: Chapter 51
Jenny screamed as she shoved her vase collection off the countertop, the sound of it jarring in the quiet atmosphere.
She fell onto the pieces, the sharp edges of it cutting into her skin and she could finally breathe again as the pain registered. She'd secretly met with Lennox's parents and they had already settled everyone, so why did it seem like their plan was going to shit all because of Sophia.
"I will never lose to you Sophia, not in this life and definitely not the next. You're mine Lennox, I won't lose you after everything I did just to make you mine" she screamed before pulling herself off the mess she'd made.
Her knees felt wet and she looked down to stare at the dark red liquid escaping the cuts on her knees.
Jenny trudged to the drink cabinet, pulled out a bottle of vodka, and drank straight from it. She choked, her throat raw from the burn as she forced herself to swallow.
Jenny stared listlessly around the room. "Why won't you see me Lennox? first it was Melissa and now it's fucking Sophia".
Jenny paced around then stopped in front of the new mirror she'd acquired for her room.
Her reflection stared back at her, her eyeliners were smudged, highlighting her eyes which looked dead. Staring down, she wasn't surprised to see that the length of her body was covered in streaks of blood.
Jenny let go of the bottle and it crashed against the tiles as it made contact. She smiled as she traced her fingers across her face, smearing her blood against her pale skin.
"Fine. I'll just have to go through it all over again. I got rid of Melissa, didn't I? How hard would it be to make Sophia suffer the same fate" she said then burst out laughing as she remembered the night of the accident. Jenny had been planning Melissa's death for a long while, but Melissa had been super careful, and meticulous even, that it was hard to get her into harm's way so Jenny had learned about all her schedule, enrolled herself Into receiving truck driving lesson because she knew the only way to kill her without arousing suspicion would be to do it via accident and she needed a car that would take her out at a go.
Jenny had waited for the perfect time, and once she knew their relationship was on the rocks, she'd stayed close plotting out dozens of scenarios to take her out, and then one night, the opportunity she'd been waiting for presented itself. Jenny drove on impulse, with no time to second guess her action as she rammed into her Melissa and drove away into the night.
Jenny sold the truck to a junkyard where she paid a huge sum to have it destroyed immediately. The case of Melissa's hit-and-run had been hushed up, mainly because Lennox's parents didn't want their name in the news or that of their son. Melissa's parents had agreed to cover everything up after the Ray families paid them off.
Jenny smirked to herself. "Yes, I'm sure I can do it again and this time I'll make sure to make her suffer before I finish her off." She promised before shoving hard at the standing mirror and watching with a smile as it toppled and crashed, the glass shattering into pieces. Jenny gasped as a shard nicked her cheek. She reached to touch the cut in shock, screaming as she felt the wet blood slipping down her cheek.

Lennox winced as his mother threw the pictures she held in his face and he watched as they swirled around before landing at his feet.
"How could you be so stupid, Lennox! I can't believe you let yourself be photographed with a low-life nobody. Do you know how much it cost just to shush the paparazzi from printing this out? Why are you so fucking selfish. Do you want to destroy our image"?
Lennox bunched his jaw as he gazed at his mother. "I don't care if that gets in the news. I'm in love with Sophia".
The slap that struck against his cheek had been expected, but the burning sting of it made his head foggy.
"I'll never accept her. Why are you so suddenly defiant huh? After Melissa's death, you started going off the deep end, now you do whatever you feel like without a thought about your parents, or the company" she accused hotly, sweat dripping down her hairline as she heaved in anger.
"At least now you know how I feel. I love Sophia and I'm not going to leave her".
"I haven't told your father about what you threatened the last time I spoke with you but maybe I might just tell him, rile him up so you have no choice but to face his wrath".
Lennox chuckled bitterly. "I do not care what he has to say. He's never been a father to me and now you think I need his permission to do what I want in my life. I don't mother. So you can tell him whatever you want".
"Are you sure about that?"
Lennox whirled around to face his father, his shock plain on his face as he took in the image of the man who managed to instill fear in everyone he met. He was tall, bulky, and ruggedly handsome in his custom-made suit, and his age never really registered to his body because he simply refused to get old.
He pointed his cane at him, and Lennox remembered how many times he'd hit him with it in his anger but he refused to cower before him anymore, so he stood his ground and was glad to see that he had a few inches on him.
"You heard everything, you know how I feel now".
He chuckled his voice a rumble that made the hair on his arms stand. "I've always known how you felt Lennox and the feeling is mutual, but I won't let your stubbornness destroy everything I've worked for. I announced that you'd be getting engaged to Jenny and I won't be going back on it".
Lennox frowned. "What do you mean made an announcement? To who, Jenny's parents" he asked, his eyes straying to the bodyguard who stood behind him, their eyes sweeping across the building.
His father stepped closer, his gaze intimidating, and Lennox glared back, matching his aura head-on.
"You have been out of it ever since Melissa died so I guess you are not aware of the success your father had made. Such a weakling" he spat in disgust.
"Say what you have to say. I do not care what you think of me".
"I am the governor of this state. After my predecessor died, I was the only suitable candidate suitable to take his place."
"Bullshit" Lennox said, but he knew his father didn't talk crap. He'd always dabbled in politics and he guessed, a lot of things could happen in six years that he wasn't aware of, but a lot of things didn't make sense, one of them being that they'd practically bullied him to help them with the company, and then his mother's visit, where she'd suggested that Lennox should apologize to Francisco, except maybe it was all related to politics and his father's agenda.
"You're right about what you are thinking," he said, his voice cold as ice. "There was never a problem with the company, I just needed you back here because Mr. Francisco promised to give me his most treasured resort worth billions of dollars if you apologized for what you did to him but as usual, you threw a fit, making me lose a deal that was sure as done."
Lennox clenched his fist. He was almost tempted to punch him and watch him bleed.
"Mr. Francisco was always obsessed with you and if you had played your cards right, we might have been able to take everything from him, but you choose to ignore the bigger picture, and then you left after Melissa's death. He made me another offer recently, but I'm sure that you'll fuck that up too because you're so proud right. Well, that's all in the past, I know you're stubborn and you hate Francisco, so I won't push, but I already announced your engagement, so you have no choice but to break whatever it is you have with that woman and do what I tell you to".
Lennox punched him before he could stop himself and his father staggered back, and once he steadied himself, he halted the advance of his guards that were going for Lennox. His mother watched them with a horrified look in her eyes.
His father chuckled, adjusting his jaw and wiping the blood at the corners of his lips. "You finally learned how to throw a punch. I'm proud of you son".
"I don't need anything from you and I'm done protecting your image or doing anything you say. I'm not In love with Jenny and I'll never get engaged to her".
"Do as you're told, boy!" He thundered, his voice ricocheting through the room. "I've let you get away with your tantrums but this time I won't let you drag my name in the mud. My image at this point is flawless, and I won't have you ruin it. You'll regret it if you do"
"Save your threats for someone who cares father, because I don't. I love Sophia and no one will ever separate us and if I have to cut off my ties with you and Mom, then I'll gladly do it. I never needed you both anyways." Lennox said and walked past them, stepping out of the house as his anger boiled over. The threat that his father would take drastic measures against him had the desired effect because he knew what Ray was capable of when it came to protecting his business. They never cared about him, they just lived to make his life miserable.
The flash of the camera in his face made him flinch, then came to the roar of questions fired from all directions hitting him all at once as more cameras flashed in his face. Two men rushed towards him, shielding him from the mob of reporters and he finally saw what the commotion was about as one of their papers dropped to the floor. The picture of him kissing Sophia was plastered on the front page and his heart thumped in his chest. If these lot of reporters were harassing him in this manner, then what about her?
"Sophia!" he gasped.
