Chapter 16: Chapter 16
: Sea and Stars
→Narrator: Kam
Offshore beach was even cleaner and cooler than the beach on the Island.
I held Asa's hand, fingers entwined in mine, as we walked across the beach, our feet, digging into the sand. Cool evening breeze, sending her scent curling into my nostrils.
Her hands were soft in mine, and I still couldn't believe she was here. Alone with me.
But we were on borrowed time and in two weeks, she'd be leaving, and the realization saddened me a little.
I knew things were far from perfect between us but we were together tonight and that was enough.
"This is where it all started." I laughed softly. "Well, not here, exactly... But it was You. Me. The sea and stars."
"I remember." Her voice was soft as she stared at the crashing waves. "You were talking about the stars and miracles and spewing crap from those lips."
"Crap that you now believe in."
She had a soft, serene smile on her wine red lips.
We sat together on the sand, as she let me pull her to my chest, encased between my legs.
"I've missed you, Asa."
She was quiet for a moment. "Me too, Kam."
I sighed, leaning back until my back hit the tree trunk. "I dont think you understand. I missed you so much, it fucking hurts." My heart panged painfully as I remembered how I was these past few days. How terribly lonely and empty I felt without her. "I'm so obsessed with you, I can't think straight when you're not around. It's like I need to breath you in, Asa."
Her steady breathing. Her hair. Her scent. Her. Everything about her was maddening and intoxicating.
"You wield so much power over me, it's terrifying to think about it but I just can't help how I feel about you. I'm sorry if I hurt you with the things I said. I swear, I wish I could go back and take back my words. Eat them before I spewed them out."
The evening wind picked up and I was glad she agreed to put on my hoodie before heading out.
"All those things I said, Asa, I'm so sorry. I was scared of the thought of losing you when I just found you." I hugged her closer to me as she rested her back against my chest. "These past few days, I've not been myself. I'm nuts without you. I want you with me. I need you with me. It's not even an option for me anymore. I can't stop feeling this way about you, even if I tried. You're the one for me, Asa and I don't care what happens but I'm never giving you up."
"Kam-" her voice .
"The thing is, I know I can't have you forever and I know we don't have enough time left together until you have to go. I'm grasping at straws now but I'll take anything I can get at this point. Stay with me until you have to leave."
Asa laughed softly. "That's what I wanted to talk to you about, Kam. That's why I came over that night, in the first place."
I froze, my heart wouldn't stop beating wildly against my chest.
She sat up suddenly, reversing her position to straddle me like a champ.
I was too shocked by her straightforwardness but the next words she said, sucked out all the breath out of my lungs.
"I love you, Kam." She whispered.
I was breathing her air, sucking in her oxygen, drowning in her essence. Her being.
"I love you, Kam," she said again.
I took her face in my hands and stared into her eyes. Those eyes that reminded me of plane crashes and thunderstorms.
"Please, Asa. Don't say things you don't mean, just because of me."
"Then let's play honest confessions."
"Asa-"
"I confess. I confess to you, Kam, that I've fallen in love with you. With your being and your spirit. With your mind and your energy. I love the way you smile at me and hold me, like I'm the most precious thing in the world."
I stared at her, shocked out of my mind, my hands, falling limp from her face.
But her smile only grew.
"I confess to you, that you hold all of my heart in your palm, that I want to be a part of you all my life. That I can't leave you even if I tried."
She took a deep breath, her chocolate scent, drowning me. "And I know that heaven is real and after death comes eternity. But I confess to you that I have seen eternity in your eyes and tasted heaven on your lips. And I can die right now, knowing that I have been loved by you."
"I confess that I have fallen in love with you. And I never want to stop. You own me, Kam. Mind, body and spirit."
She slipped her soft hands around my waist, and rested her face against my chest. Against my beating heart. "I confess to you, that I am in love with you."
My body quaked with need as I cupped her face in my hands, her eyes, dark and intense as they held mine.
A slow, steady grin split my face in two as I saw the truth in her eyes. "I have been waiting to hear that my whole life."
I hugged her to me, face in her hair as I breathed her in but her next words, seized whatever breath I had in me.
"I'm not leaving anymore."
"Asa-"
"I'm serious. I thought about it for a while and this is the way things are going to turn out; we're going to move abroad and I'm going to gain access to my trust fund. My mum is going to try to start a business, but like all other businesses she has started before, it's all going to crash. Then we'll find it difficult to get by, all over again and she's going to look for comfort in another man. She can get any man she wants because she's intelligent and beautiful. And that man will have kids of his own and the last thing I want are more step siblings."
"So you're taking the easy way out."
"A man once told me and I quote: 'I can be a shrewd businessman when I want to be.'"
"Sounds like a wise man."
"A very wise man."
I cupped her face, fingers tracing her delicate cheekbones. "Thank you, Asa."
And I pressed my lips to hers, gently, my hands, leaving her face, to grab her hips. Pulling her into me.
But she went wild, her kisses, hard and passionate as she kissed me with all her strength.
And man, what strength.
Fingers, tugging my hair. Biting, sucking, licking, teasing.
I matched her passionate pace, giving her as much as she wanted, and taking some more.
Promising. Searing. Hot. Hungry. Scathing touches, harsh breaths, damaging heartbeats as I lowered her into the sand, never once, leaving her lips. She pulled me into her as I hovered above her, never breaking the kiss, nestled between her legs.
I am yours and you are mine.
The roaring waves of the sea, was nothing compared to the crashing tides of our love and passion.
And we kissed for a long time.
