...Sonya stood with Maxwell and keep playing with the drink in her hand without drinking it.

"what's the matter?"

"you said you took care of Joyce's issue but why did i keep hearing talks about you getting engaged to some girl"

"why? you don’t want me to get engaged"

"is that even a question? what girl in her right mind would want her boyfriend to get engaged to another girl" she answered annoyed.

"then i will consider it"

"what are you considering?"

"whether to get engaged or not" he smiled and walk away from her.

"what did he mean? he wont dare" she thought and breath out loudly. she walk toward a table and place some food on a plate to eat while Sam, Ariana and Blair walk up to her

"Sonya, i didn't see you at our table. i thought you were not coming today" Sam said.

"and why are you so dressed up? maybe you haven't heard that Mr hart is getting engaged tonight. you better wake up from your dream now" Ariana said with sarcasm.

"i think i should be the one saying that to you. you've flaunt yourself around the company as his fake girlfriend for years now" she replied in the same manner.

"Sonya, its been a while" Blair greeted. Sonya took a glance at her and raise her glass to them then walk away, she saw Evelyn sitting in a corner with a lot of ladies around her and escape there.

"am i interrupting something?" she asked.

"of course you are not excuse us" Evelyn answered and discard the others.

"thank goodness you came. i was stressed out listening to their flattering and all that"

"where is Charles i thought you two were together" she asked.

"i don’t know he was acting weird and saying things that do not make sense" she responded.

"why is your mum not here?"

"am also surprised. she likes things like this but two days ago she just decide she was going out of the country for something important" she answered then they heard an announcement made about Maxwell's first dance.

"its time for Mr Hart and his fiancee to be to come up here and dance. his fiancee to be will be making an appearance..." the plate on Sonya's hand drop.

"what is going on?" Sonya asked anxiously looking very worried.

'i don’t know too. am sure there is a mix up somewhere" Evelyn answered and then they heard Sonya's name. she didn't pay attention to it at first until she heard it the second time and the limelight was on her. Sonya wonder what was going on and look at everyone nervously.

"go forward" Evelyn said and came her a little push. Sonya walk slowly forward to meet Maxwell who was already at the center. she got to him and gave him a questioning look. Maxwell ignore it and pull out his hand for her and the music start to play.

"are you not going to explain? why didn't you tell me we were going to dance and what fiancee to be?" she whispered inquisitively.

"this is supposed to be a surprise" he answered.

"well i don’t like surprises like this. you announced me as your fiancee' she said between her teeth and smile as she dance.

"you told me you do. remember what you said about your dream proposal" he replied.

"why do you take all my words seriously i didn't mean it, it was just an imagination" she stressed.

"so am making that imagination come true and also who do you think will be called out as my fiancee"

"how would i have known that i was the one"

"do you intend to just date me. you said you wanted to marry me" he said a little loud.

"relax and go with the flow" he whispered to her ear and she swallow the words in her mouth. After dancing the rest joined them and after a while Sonya felt pressed from drinking too much. she told Maxwell and she left to the ladies toilet and after she finish her business she wash her hands and use a tissue to clean them. then a guy in all black and with a face cap entered.

"excuse me, this is for the ladies" she said the guy ignored her and walk inside

'hey didn't you hear me? you are in the female..." she was saying when the guy rush at her and pierce her with a sharp object, Sonya groan in pain as she fall down her hands now on the knife she try having a glance of the culprit face but failed as he quickly ran out and left her bleeding.

it was almost time to take action, Micheal sent him a signal and he nodded knowing he focus his attention on kelvin not taking his eyes off him, kelvin caught his glare and stare back with a smirk he move away, he mustn't let this opportunity slip off his hands, Maxwell Hart will not see this coming and he will be happy to gift him with the best anniversary present.

minutes later Kelvin went up to the podium to speak using his eyes find Amy before going up, she gave him a go ahead and he smiled at her knowingly and he went up and stare at the whole crowd he look at Amy again before he start

"i have a very important information you will all be interested in" he begin.

"Hart group of company existed as the result of not one man but two men hard work and determination, by the bonded friendship of two men, so i thought" he said sadly

"my father build this great company up together with Mr Hart but it was unfortunate that Mr hart got greedy, wanting the company to himself he killed my father, his best friend and took over the company completely" everyone start to murmur some look confused while some look shocked at the revelation. most of the consecutive remember his father well. Maxwell tried not to lose his cool as he watch Kelvin insult his father's name Micheal look at him to make sure he will not do anything rash before they got the truth reveal, kelvin observe everyone's reaction before he continue

"i will like to show everyone here in this hall how cruel the Hart could be. everyone should check their phone, i sent a video to you and i will also play with here" he turn their attention to the screen behind him immediately the screen turn on he move away a little to the corner to allow the audience a good view he waited for their reaction and it was exactly as he predicted.

"am now laying a claim to the company with evidence and also.." he stop in his word when he heard the word from the screen. he turned and saw his father with Elliot and another guy he could not recognized.

"i gave him the last one this morning so in about seven hours its will react fully on him" the other guy from the video said.

"well done, you will be rewarded handsomely when the deal is done" Richard said and turn to Elliot.

"i will leave with him in two hours and we will be taking the same road as planned and remember what i told you, you will be a witness with this. also this is the evidence we will use after his death and make sure his son doesn't return back safely" he said...

"why is my father here?" kelvin wonder in disbelieve. he quickly check what he sent to everyone and saw it was the recording of his discussion with Amy five years ago and a video of his recent plan with Amy. he looked at the direction Amy was but couldn't find her. everyone was murmuring and pointing fingers at him.

"so his father tried to kill Mr hart and failed then the son also tried to kill the son. what a terrible pair of father and son, so horrible' people begin to talk and say their opinion.

'shut up!! its a lie, its a trick by him to prevent you from seeing the truth" he screamed and gave a signal to his men but none of them move. he charge towards Maxwell but the securities stop him.

"you knew this all along dint you? how dare you deceive me" he yelled and struggle to free himself from them but they were too strong.

"you deceived yourself. take him away" Maxwell said and some other security also went to Elliot before he could escape and seize him."what about Sonya?" Maxwell asked.

I already asked someone to help her to a room. She is just frightened" Micheal answered.

"when we finish with the party then we move to take care of him and also send those evidence on Elliot to the police" he added and went to meet some of the shareholders present.

the host in charge divert the attention of everyone and soon people stop talking and concentrate on the party. Maxwell excuse himself from the hall after discussing with the board of directors and some other important personnel. he walk away and went to check on Sonya first. Sonya stood up from the bed immediately she saw him.

"what is going on? i remembered i was in the restroom and some guy entered then i try to stop him from coming in and he stabbed me and then i opened my eyes and met myself in this room" she said in a panic. Maxwell held her down and make her sit on the side of the bed.

"calm down and take a deep breath" he said. Sonya took a deep breath and wait for him to explain.

"i will explain everything to you later but about what happened in the restroom you don't have to panic. you were not really stabbed. your cloth was designed to prevent such" he explained.

"what do you mean?" she asked confused. then her phone rang and it was Simon. she looked at Maxwell before picking it.

"Sonya where are you?" he asked.

"why? is something wrong?"

"am at the venue for your company's party. where are you? did something happen?"

"nothing is wrong. am just kind of busy, so why don’t we talk later" she said and cut the call.

"i will have someone take you home and i will be with you soon" he said and a lady enter to accompany her. Maxwell left the room and drove to another place. he entered and met some of his men waiting at the entrance. they greeted him and open the door then they walk to the elevator and click on the last floor. the elevator descend in the underground. they got off and open another door then entered the room where kelvin is being held. in the room was Micheal and many more dangerous looking men. Maxwell sat down on the only chair in the room. the men poured water on Kelvin to wake him up. Kelvin looked horrified and was in a bad state. Maxwell signal for them to bring him nearer, two of the men drag him forward and Micheal handover a syringe to Maxwell. he inject it into Kelvin's hand. Kelvin felt weird and uncomfortable. he waited for the drug to start reacting in his body before the two men release their hold on him.

"what did you inject in my body?" he asked weakly.

"don’t worry, is something hurtful it will just make you say the truth" Micheal answered. Kelvin laugh dryly

"and you are still by his side as a watchdog" he said to Micheal.

"if not for him, you and i wont be standing here alive. have you forgotten?' Micheal said bitterly.

"explain everything that happened back then?"

"back then when? a lot has happened" he replied.

"five years ago" he said.

"i really underestimate you back then and even now. i wanted to make you bedridden for a few years to gain proper power over everything but unfortunately that stupid girl ruined my plan and you cant charge me for anything about it, it wasn't me who poisoned your drink"

"you mean Amy? she was working on your instructions"

"of course. she is just one of my puppets and a tool. if that girl hasn't spoil my plan you will have been dead a long time ago"

"what do you plan to do tonight?"

"a lot if you were not lucky to find out my plan then you will be dead by now then your stupid mother and your sister will become mine"

"do you do it because you thought my father caused your father's death?"

"you know better than i if its true or not. i don’t know what you did to get Amy on your side but trust me this isn't over"

"how did you plan to discard Amy?"

"very simple, to push everything on her including the death of your sweetheart. am sure by now she must be at the point of death"

"you are not wise enough. you think i will not take precaution on that"

"of course you would, you even hid your mother and father, but why did you leave Evelyn out? you still don’t care about her do you?"

"you are not the one to tell me that and i care about my sister but i know you will never hurt her because you love her don’t you? that's why you make Amy break them up with the excuse of what happened before?" kelvin kept quiet and speak again after minutes.

"when did you start suspecting me?"

"i did not suspect you, you were the one who exposed yourself by trusting someone like Elliot who is a wife wrapper. it took very little effort to get him to spill the beans and also you think you can try to influence the company from outside, is that why you start that company. you think a little company can stand up against me" Kelvin laugh out loud in a crazy manner

"am sure Elliot would not mention my name just like that you must have known something before using him"

"of course i know something" he replied and played the recording Sonya came him.

"Sonya gave me this. luckily she recorded your voices that day. i can recognize your voice anywhere and you were slow to think you can fool me by acting innocent"

"that girl again. i should have taken care of her first but still even if i lose everything i will still get her. you don’t think i will just get someone to stab her and not have a back up plan in case she survive?" he said.

"what plan? Amy, she is on my side now and don’t think you can use her again. she is listening to everything you are saying right now"

"why are you not doing like you use to before. you interrogating someone here is odd isn't it? you should act like a beast as you always do. why? you are in love now and wants to change?"

"you think too much. i might hate you for what you did but i wont treat you like others for old time sake. here" he said and place a file in front of him.

"the police will soon be here to take you away. those are the original information about your father's accident and a video evidence"

"should i thank you then for being lenient, but too bad am not that much of a nice person. Maybe you forgot that Elliot also wants to kill her. your girl is about to be shot and boom! she dies" he said and laugh again crazily. Maxwell tensed up doubting his word. He pick his phone and call Tom.

"give the phone to Sonya" he said.

"she is not here with me. she told me to drop her with Evelyn and some friends" Maxwell stood up from the chair agitated.

"so where is she? how is she?"

"there is nothing wrong. am near where they are and am guarding her from a distance there is really nothing to wrong about" he answered and Maxwell cut the call.

"finish up here" he instruct Micheal and left with two other. he called Sonya's number but it was not reachable. he enter the car and drove off alone while they followed him in another car.
