“this is not making any sense at all” she said confused.

“why would you think he is cheating on you with his sister?” Sonya asked.

“she said so herself, she came to school with another girl to threaten me to leave her man. And am sure am not mistaking, she showed a picture of the two of them being intimate” she explained.

“then why didn’t you confirm it with him?”

“I did…” she said without certainty.

“and what did he say about it?”

“I didn’t ask him directly” she answered. “but I saw him hugging her right before my eyes, If it was you would you still want to confirm it after seeing that. And besides he didn’t tell me he has a sister” she said to defend her actions. Sonya kept quiet for sometimes.

“why would you think every girl is after him, fine, he’s handsome and all that but you should still trust him”

“that’s because the kind of life you live is different. Have you ever have to live in a family where you own nothing. Right from when I recognized my left from right, it has always been Maxwell this Maxwell that. My parent praise him for every little thing and made me look like a loser. There is nothing at all that feels like mine. My mom, my dad, the family even friends. Everyone don’t love me genuinely they just pretend to like me. He was the first person that made me feel like there is someone for me, I told I had someone on my side but even him is just with me because of what I am and not who I am” her voice was breaking and she was on the verge of crying. Sonya draw closer to her and place her head on her shoulder.

“I don’t know for sure yet but am sure that’s not true. Your parent, Maxwell, Charles, loveth and I, we all care about you and love you” she said comforting her.

Evelyn entered the library with her friends and they sat down at a far end.

“am surprised you came out to study with us today. Did your friend ditch you?” one of her friends, Alexandra said mockingly. Evelyn faked a smile and shook her head.

“its been long we hang out and since we are all preparing for exams” she said between her teeth. She absolutely wont tell them the truth that Sonya and loveth ditch her to attend to their other business.

“we will believe your words then” rose, the other friend said. “wait! Is that not Charles?” rose said excitedly. Evelyn look towards where she pointed to and saw Charles reading alone with some girls trying to give him things. For a while now, she hasn’t seen him. And as usual, he’s got girls buffing around him like flies.

“Evelyn don’t tell me you don’t know Charles?”Alex asked.

“not really” she answered.

“why don’t we go join him? He is the only one sitting there” rose suggested.

“he just declined those girls and you want us to also go there, no I don’t think that’s a good idea” Alex objected.

“Evelyn why are you not saying anything?”

“I also don’t think its right to go over there” she answered. Rose ignored them and went to where Charles is. She greeted him and he replied.

“hi, do you mind if we join you?” she asked pointing to Evelyn and Alex. Charles look over his shoulders and saw Evelyn.

“sure” he answered. Rose went back to Evelyn and Alex happily and pack her books and they went to join him. They read for a while in silence.

“Alex do you get this?” Evelyn asked and place a book in front of her.

“if its professor Johnson’s course, then I don’t know” she said not taking a look at the book.

“why don’t you ask Charles to help you, he is a senior” she suggested.

“no, there is no need to bother him” she said and close the book.

“its not a bother. I can help” Charles said.

“no you don’t have to” Evelyn replied giving him a look.

“yes I want to” he said and return the look.

“why are you rejecting his help when you obviously need it?” rose said irritated. Charles smirk at her and collected the book from her.

“why don’t you exchange seat with your friend so it will comfortable to explain it to you” Charles said and rose move to the other side while Evelyn sat beside him. He start to explain it for her.After few minutes, rose left to attend to other things while Alex boyfriend came to pick her leaving the both of them together.

“I think I should also leave” Evelyn said.

“you’ve not even gotten the first step correctly?” Charles said and stop her from leaving.

“stop putting on an act. No one is here with us” she said and start to pack her things to leave.

“what are you talking about? When you are done solving all this and get them correctly then you can leave” he said very seriously Evelyn was intimidated by his look and quickly get to it. She starts working on it but couldn’t get it, but not wanting Charles to think of her as an unserious person she keep trying. When she finished it was already late and Charles already slept off from waiting for her. She close her books gently not to wake him up, then she took her phone and snap him.

“he look so adorable while sleeping” she thought and place her head on the table facing him. She remain like that for sometimes then she move forward to him slowly and kissed him on impulsive. She quickly retreat back and ran out. Charles opened his eyes immediately shocked by what she did.

Evelyn heard a knock on her door and stood up from the bed to open it. Loveth and Sonya comes in.

“hey girl, how are you feeling?” Sonya asked and hand the cup in her hand to her.

“drink this, it will help with your hangover” she said. “thanks” Evelyn replied and drank it all.

“loveth how was it with Simon yesterday?” Evelyn asked and turn to her. Loveth put on a fake smile.

“it was great, we had a lot of fun” she answered.

“so, how did it go exactly? After your first kiss, what else? Did he make a move last night?” Sonya asked curiously.

“you seems so curiously about it, but I don’t want to disclose any details. Its confidential’ she said and place her hand over her mouth to indicate that she is not saying anything.

“sooner or later we will get to know all the confidential information’ Evelyn said and laughed with Sonya.

“you said you are going to tell him you like him today, what is the plan?” Evelyn asked.

“I did that already” she answered. “really? So you guys official now?”

“yeah, kind of’ she lied.

“let’s go out now” she said and quickly left.

“so, are they dating or not?” Evelyn asked confused. Sonya shrugged and shake her head.

“what took you so long to get ready?” Simon asked.

“because we just finished getting ready” Evelyn replied sarcastically.

“am hungry” Sonya said aloud and look around for Maxwell.

“he is going to join us in about an hour. He had something to attend to” Micheal informed.

“oh, I didn’t know that” Sonya said.

“so what’s your plan for today” Amy asked.

“here it is, the girls picked yesterday so the guys pick today” Sonya answered. All of them pick a name. Simon picked Sonya, Micheal picked Evelyn while Charles picked Amy again. Micheal move closer to Charles and signal to him to exchange his paper with him. They exchange it secretly without anyone noticing it. The rest of them checked it.

“loveth is the only one without a partner, so when Maxwell comes she will partner up with him” Evelyn said.

“yeah, you would say that since you got partnered with Charles” Sonya said and Evelyn keep quiet.

“so, what fun thing are we doing today?” Amy asked. “going to the haunted house then we meet at the beach for more fun” loveth answered.

“but first, we will play a game, paper, rock and scissor and whichever group lose get to take care of breakfast” she added and the guys get ready to play.

“rock paper scissor” they said together.

“Simon lost”

“how can you lost a game like this? I don’t feel like working this morning” Sonya complained bitterly and Simon pull her with him towards the kitchen.

“okay everyone get ready for the beach party later and the adventure” Evelyn added. Some minutes after Sonya and Simon left Maxwell came in and called Micheal for a private discussion.

“how was it?” Micheal asked him.

“which one?” he asked also.

“you know am talking about Joyce. What exactly did she do” “she told our parents to reconsider your engagement and even made an announcement about it. Now everyone thinks our family are going to merge together” he explained infuriated. “but I don’t get it what is she playing at? Ever since she got back, she’s been acting really different and strange. I think there is someone behind her”

“yes, Simon. I don’t know how they know each other but they have met a lot of times since she came back and he must have instigate her on this" he explained further.

"Why would he do that to his cousin?" Michael asked and realized it.

"Right, he likes her as a woman" he said again answering himself.

"So what did your mom say?"

"Luckily she has seen Sonya with me before, so she is totally not buying it but your mom is so eager about it. She even suggested that we should get married immediately" he answered.

"I will talk to her" Michael finally said."and as if she will listen to you" he replied and Micheal chuckled.
