CHAPTER 10

Hudson was in his room, applying ice on his bruises and bandage on his broken nose.

“ I can’t believe I let her beat me up” He mumbled angrily to himself.

“ Hudson have you seen Alv………” Paisley said rushing inside the room but stopped on seeing Hudson’s face.

“ Jeez what happened to your face?” She asked, making Hudson turn back.

“ Nothing” He mumbled.

“ Your can’t tell me those bruises came out of no where” Paisley shrugged.

“ I slipped and fell, that’s all” Hudson said. He seriously can’t tell her he was beaten up by a lady.

“ Hmm” Paisley eyed him suspiciously.

“ Anyways, have you seen Alvara” She asked making Hudson hiss angrily.

“ No, I don’t care” He said.

“ What do you mean by no? Shouldn’t she be with you and shouldn’t you know her whereabouts?” Paisley asked.

“ Why must I know her whereabouts, I’m not her bodyguard nor her guardian angel” Hudson hissed.

“ At least you should know. What if she’s in danger?” Paisley said.

“I…don’t….care” Hudson snapped angrily.

“ Hey” Paisley snapped back, sending him a warning glare.

“ You shouldn’t say that about your follow mutant. You need to be your brothers keeper” Paisley said, making Hudson groan with an eye roll.

“ I seriously don’t know where she is. Now can you leave me alone?” He groaned.

“ Fine. Do you have an idea where she might have gone?” Paisley asked with folded arms.

“ I don’t know…maybe she went to check on her mom. But seriously, how will I even know?” Hudson grunted and Paisley beamed.

“ You might be right Hudson. Come on, we need to go check if she’s ok. You know it’s really dangerous out there” Paisley said, tapping him on the shoulder, which he shrugged off.

“ I don’t know where she lives” Hudson replied plainly.

“ And even if I know, I’m still not going anywhere” He added

BACK TO ALVARA AND MAVERICK

Alvara quickly shut the door close, resting her back on it, her heart beating hard against her chest.

“ Christ, that was close” Maverick heaved, panting

“ God, how will you both leave when….

Emily was interrupted by a bang on the door, making her flinch back in fear. The Sentinels where trying to break down the door from outside but Alvara, using her power locked up the door, holding it firmly.

“ What should we do?” She asked, staring at Emily and Maverick who stared back at her.

“ Idea!” Maverick exclaimed and Alvara’s eyes flashed in hope.

“ Maybe we should surrender” Maverick said, making Alvara glare angrily at him.

“ Are you crazy? Was that your stupid idea?” She questioned in disappointment.

“ Yep. I don’t know what we should do. I’m freaking out, I’m fucking freaking out!” Maverick panted in fear, pacing to and fro the room, trying to calm his nerves.

“ Calm down ok, maybe we should……..

Emily was interrupted by another bang on the door startling all of them.

“ Why must I always get interrupted?” She cursed under her breath

But this time around the bang cane from the back door. Seeing a hand waving at them from the back door, Maverick headed to open it. On doing that, his face beamed.

“ Hudson” He exclaimed happily, hugging him. Alvara’s face squeezed up in a frown on seeing Hudson.

“ You’re…… . strangling…. .. me” Hudson said trying to break free from the tight hug Maverick gave him.

“ Dude, you don’t know how happy I am you came, “ Maverick said, breaking from the hug. Blink stepped in immediately.

“ Blink” Maverick exclaimed, trying to hug her too but Blink stepped back.

“ No hugs” She said and Maverick nodded with a broad smile plastered on his face.

“ How were you guys able to find us? “ Alvara asked.

“ No questions Alvara. We need to leave this place and… quick” Blink replied and positioning herself, ready for action, she created a huge portal

“ Everyone get in” She commanded and everyone except for Emily rushed in.

“ Mom, come on” Alvara said, stretching out her hand.

“ Am sorry baby, but I can’t come with you”, Emily said.

“ But why?” Alvara asked with a frown.

“ I still have a lot to handle, dear” Emily replied.

“ But Mom, the Sentinels…….

“ Don’t worry, they won’t lay a finger on me” Emily assured and Alvara stared at her, her tears gathering up.

“ Mom, I can’t leave you here” She said fighting back her tears.

“ I already told you…. I’ll be fine” Emily assured but Alvara wasn’t complying. The Sentinels were almost breaking down the door.

“ The Sentinels are almost breaking in, you guys should leave…. Quick” Emily said.

“Mom…….

Emily flashed her daughter one last reassuring smile before the portal closed up. Immediately the Sentinels broke down the door, rushing in.

“ Sorry guys but you’re too late” Emily said with a smirk on her face.

“ Still thinking about your Mom? “ Hudson asked, snapping Alvara out of her thoughts and she looked up only to see him standing before her.

“ Not really. I know she’s safe” Alvara lied, trying to hide her pain.

“ You can’t lie about it, it is written all over your face” Hudson said, sitting beside her on the bench.

“ Hey, I never told you to sit” Alvara snapped at him, making him roll his eyes.

“ I can’t believe you actually came to help me even after beating you up” Alvara said, trying to fight back her laughter. Hudson glared angrily at her.

“ Hey don’t misunderstand. Blink forced me. She almost broke my nose like you did” Hudson hissed.

“ Don’t worry, I won’t let it heal before I break it again” Alvara said, making Hudson scoff.

“ I dare you” He said and Alvara raised a brow at him.

“ We’ll see about that then” She said standing on her feet.

“ Anyways, I was thinking beating you to skateboarding” Hudson said, standing too.

“ You accept the challenge? “ He asked waving a skateboard before Alvara.

“I’ll be a dork if I don’t” Alvara said, grabbing the skateboard from him, placing it on the ground and climbing on top of it. Hudson did the same thing.

“ Let’s see what you’ve got” He smirked.

“ Watch” Alvara said.

She placed her foot near the front bolt of the skateboard and turned it at angle. She placed her back foot on the toe side pocket. Scooping the board with her back foot and pushing it forward, she did a spin of 360 degree with the board spinning vertically and landed.

“ How do see that? It’s called the ‘impossible' “ She said with a smirk.

“ Easy” Hudson said repeating what she did.

“Hmm, interesting” Alvara said.

“ Watch” Hudson said this time around.

He placed his foot at the middle of his board pointing it diagonally. His back foot goes at the middle of the tail with the ball of his back foot putting pressure on the hill side pocket of the board’s tail. Popping it so hard, he flick his front foot, doing a kick flip and landed.

“ It is called the ' hard flip', can you do it?” He scoffed.

“ I’ll try” Alvara replied.

She did exactly the same thing Hudson did but in the process of doing a kick flip, she lost her balance and was about falling.

Stretching his left arm, Hudson held her to prevent her from falling, their palms interlocked. Their gaze locked as they stared at each other with slightly parted lips. But what happened next, shocked them.

Right where their palm was interlocked, a glow started forming. A strong breeze out of no where started ruffling their hair upwards. Slowly closing their eyes, Hudson and Alvara felt a rush of electricity through them and everywhere became dead silent to them. They started feeling everything around them even the slightest noise.

Slowly the glow in their palms increased, running from their palm up to their arms, down to their whole body and they were now glowing themselves. Flinging their eyes open which has turned to a glow of light, everything around them started glowing. Rays of light was now penetrating through the building before them( the underground).

The glow became so intense that one could barely see anything and the skateboard besides them bursted into crystal’s of light. Just when the building was about exploding, they disengaged their palms immediately and slumped to the floor as they felt a great amount of strength leave their body. Panting heavily, they both stared at each other with parted lips.

“”What…..what…just happened?” Hudson shuttered, staring at his palm in awe.

“ I don’t know” Alvara replied. They both turned and saw crystals of light littered before them.

Stretching out their hands, they both grabbed the tiny glowing crystals, standing weakly on their feet.

They both headed inside even though they were dragging their feet as they felt weak.

“ Dad, Leriel, John, Blink” They called rushing inside.

“ What happened?” John said, climbing down the stairs and rushing towards the.

“ Look…what….happe…….

They didn’t finish the sentence when they both slumped to the floor, passing out.........
