Chapter 79: Chapter 79

Chapter 79

.

These past few days have been hell for her, going through the pain and torture that her mom was later revealed to be the killer.

And the ex-mayor, Frederic Bellos happens to be her dad. All these were too much for her to take in.

And now, her mom had done it again, killing Emily Bellos, or should she say Emily Brohms?

Her mom gazed directly into her eyes, she could feel her blood boil from within.

"Prepare the gas chambers! She deserves to die" Elena stood up.

"That's my girl! You are just like me!" Ruth said to her daughter.

"Shut your mouth mom! You are nothing like me! And I am nothing like you! I am not a murderer" Elena yelled at her while Crane opened the bars to her cell.

Kate handcuffed her as they dragged her outside the cell while the other prisoners watched.

Ruth began laughing hysterically.

"I do not want to be there when it is done. Just get on with it"

"You do not want to come pay me the last respect before I die?"

"You do not deserve respect!" She turned to the police officers.

"Take her away"

"I have seen worse, Elena! I have seen worse! Killing me is just like helping end my mystery" She continued laughing while they dragged her away.

"What are we going to do about the body?" Vera asked, she was standing next to two other cops while Elena stood at akimbo, thinking drastically.

"I do not know yet. Today is my birthday but it is ruined already. I do not know how Sarah would take the news" Elena muttered, the cool winter breeze brushed past her face as she sucked in the damp air. Heaving the loudest sigh.

"Put her in the mortuary, we can not just cremate her. Sarah has to.. " she stopped talking remembering Sarah must have known by now.

What was she going to do? How would Sarah take the news? And today is their birthday, they wanted to have a blissful one. What was she to do now? If only Bonnie was here, she would need a lot of advice right now.

"Just take the body away," Elena said and walked, without looking back.

When she got to the prison section, looking for her dad. Because of who he was before the incident, he was kept in a separate cell.

"Open the bars," she told the police officer on duty. He nodded and took the key from his belt holes.

He opened the bars and Elena walked in, her dad was standing close to the tiny window, he placed both hands at his back whilst he observed from the window.

"Hello... Elena" he said without sparing her a look.

"Emily is dead" Elena stated and he did not seem shocked or taken aback.

"I heard," he said still looking out from the window.

"And you are least perturbed?" She asked but he did not say a word.

"I do not take this life too seriously, because soon, we all.." He stopped and rubbed his head.

"None of us are leaving it alive anyway, so why the fuss?" He asked rhetorical still looking out through the window.

"I know... If the award for the worst father could be given, I would be.. "

Elena interrupted him before he could finish.

"No... I did not come here to hear your bullshit. According to Ruth, my dad died during the Mystic Hollow war, so I have mourned and taken it that way. My dad is dead to me" Elena said as he sighed.

"Hmm, I heard your name has been changed to Elena Bellos? That's interesting, isn't it?" he smiled.

"My dad might be dead to me. That does not mean I would throw away my family's name" she stated and started walking away.

"Happy birthday Elena. Send my love to your twin sister too. And wish her a happy birthday for me" he said, and she froze at the spot

She did not turn back to steal a glance at him, neither did she say anything. She looked over her shoulder, turning back to face the bar, she walked out while the police officer locked the door.

Frederick walked to the bars, Aaron, the Police Officer, locked it while he watched Elena leave as he sighed.

"I am the worse dad to walk the earth.

She walked out of that section and went to the offices, walking to the desk officer on the post, she talked to him about something which he kept nodding at.

She walked outside the station, entering her van, she drove away. She was so deep in thought, all these new responsibilities were weighing her down. Worse of it all, Emily is dead. Her twin sister would surely not like it at all.

She drove past their school and the mall, almost everywhere was decorated, most of the buildings were being renovated and Christmas songs could be heard from all corners.

The heaps of snows were increasing, lots of men were leveling them with some machines and equipment, while some engines were scattering salts on the road.

They waved at Elena as she waved back at them.

"So much for the yuletide season" she breathed in and pulled over at the front of the Bellos mansion.

She walked inside the gigantic building and rested on one of the sofas. Taking off her jacket, she walked to the fridge, taking a bottle of champagne out. She opened it and drank directly from the bottle

"Bad habit" she hiccup and placed it back in the fridge.

"Where is everyone?" She muttered to herself, taking her phone from her pocket, she dialed Laura's number.

She picked at the second ring. Where she was sounded so noisy.

"Hello, Laura. Can you hear me?" She asked as the music kept blaring from over the phone.

oh my God Elena... I think I am drunk... Come to the cottage in the woods" Laura spoke from over the phone.

Hello? How is Sarah? Is she OK?" She asked but Laura had ended the call already.

"Dang it" she muttered to herself and walked upstairs to her room.

She wore a pair of jeans and blacktop, flying a jean jacket over her shoulders. Shoving her gun inside her jacket pocket, she walked to the mirror to stare at herself while she banded her hair.

She rushed back to the room to take her phone, shoving it inside her jean pocket. Walking out of the mansion, getting to her car, she remembered she forgot her car keys.

"What is wrong with me?" She asked no one in particular. Hopping out of the car, she rushed back inside the mansion.

When she got to her room, she looked for the previous trousers she wore, taking out the keys, she ran out of the house to her car.

-

She pulled over at the front of the cottage, from afar, she could hear the blaring sound of music coming from the cottage.

The windows were wide open, they were snowflakes on the roof of the cottage. She alighted and walked towards the cottage, its entrance was beautifully decorated with balloons, lights, and ribbons.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, SARAH & ELENA was written boldly on a big notice board.

She smiled at that and walked inside the cottage. She was awed to see how her friends had decorated the place.

"See who came late to her birthday," Sophia said titling her hair

"Happy birthday Elena," Bryan said walking up to her, holding a glass of wine.

"Thanks," she said, using her eyes to search for her friends.

"You look exquisite," he told her but she just nodded.

"If you would excuse me now.. " she tried to say but he stopped her placing his hand on her waist.

"Elena," he muttered.

"Not now Bryan," she said removing his grip from her waist as she walked away.

The room was so colorful, filled with balloons. There were lots of guests enjoying themselves, in one way or the other. Elena wondered where they came from.

There was a gigantic cake in the middle of the cottage, made with blue and black color. Sarah chose it though. (Awkward)

She could hear Bonnie's tiny voice as she smiled and traced the voice.

"So... I and Peter are going to get married and we would give birth to two kids. A boy and a girl. We'll name them Crane and Charlotte, just like my mom and dad" She said boastfully while her classmates listened to her.

"That's funny. Why would you name your kids, after your parents? Isn't that lame?" Rose shrugged.

"It sounds cool to me" Nicholas shrugged.

"Don't mind Rose. She is always opposing whatever I say" Bonnie blurted out, rolling her eyes.

"I thought you guys are friends now?"

"Hey, Bonnie! Where is everyone?" Elena asked, on reaching there.

"Oh! It is Elena" Bonnie said rushing to hug her.

"Hi, Elena, happy birthday," the kids said as she smiled and waved at them.

"Hope you kids are having a great time?" She asked as they nodded.

"Sure "

"Absolutely "

"Merry Christmas Elena!" the kids echoed again as she smiled and waved at them.

"Merry Christmas kids"

"Hey, come here," she said to Bonnie as they walked to a corner.

"Hi, what took you so long?" Bonnie asked as Elena squatted close to her.

"There was a situation at the prison, I had to rush," she said and stared at the guests dancing and enjoying themselves.

"Where is Sarah?" Elena asked.

"Probably at the back of the cottage with the others" Bonnie replied.

"Is anything the matter?" She asked further, observing the wrinkles on Elena's face.

"Oh, nothing. Nothing at all" she lied.

"Does Sarah seem sad or something? Like she got a vision about someone dead?" Elena asked as Bonnie stared at her awkwardly.

"What are you up to Elena? Who is dead?" She asked as Elena let her fingers dug into her hair.
