The gun Elena was holding dropped from her hand as she became speechless, lost, bewildered, and shocked in a go.

"No no no no no! This is not true! You're trying to play a stupid game with me. It is not going to work at all because I am not going to fall for it!" Emily screamed as she cried.

"You are trying to pay me back for all I did right? You want to take Sarah away from me as payback. You want to take my baby away"

"Sarah is my baby and no one is going to take her away from me! I would not let that happen. I won't! You can punish me if you wish, but please, do not take my baby away from me " She cried while everyone in the room kept mute, all were lost in thought as Frederick broke the awkward silence.

"Why do you think I agreed to let Chris Liam to our home after his father's death? Do you think I am a fucking philanthropist? So, tell me, when do I start doing charity that I would take people into my house after they lost their father?"

"Believe it or not, Sarah is not your baby. You are barren"

"It is because of that secret I retired his dad early so the news would not escalate by mistake and I kept paying him after his retirement, the nurses that were involved in the incident were also dismissed and paid for 6 years," The Mayor said feeling guilty as Ruth sniffed.

"You guys did not only ruin my life. You took my baby away too. I even tried to kill her. What kind of a mother am I?" Ruth lamented as she glanced at Sarah who was crying now.

She has been deeply offended by her real mom and so-called dad.

Her mom tried to kill her and her dad tried to cut her tongue when she was just six years old.

"My life is a mess! No!" She ran out of the cottage.

"Go after her" Elena said to Laura who nodded and ran outside.

When she got there, Sarah was at the back of the cottage, crying.

"Don't look at me" She turned her back at her. Laura did not say anything for a while as she finally opened her mouth to speak.

"You can cry all you want. Let it out of your chest. Free yourself. I can not imagine myself in your shoes. I feel pity for you and I hope you would be okay soon"

Sarah cried so loud as she sat on the ground, Laura walked up to her and knelt beside her.

"I do not know, but I wish I was not born. My life, childhood, family, everything is a mess" she cried as Laura patted her back.

"Almost every teenager in Mystic Hollow wishes to be me. They do not like me because they think it is a thing of joy to be the Mayor's daughter. But no, it is not. I regret being born. If only I had a say before I was born. I would not have approved of it"

"Do not say that, Sarah. You are a strong girl. You and Elena. You have to pull yourself together and get through this"

They both kept mute until Sarah suddenly sprang up.

"Come one, let's go" she cleaned her eyes and started walking away while Laura followed her from behind.

When they got inside, everyone was listening to Frederick.

"-- So, I am sorry" he stopped when he saw Sarah and Laura. He paused for a while and stared at Sarah with pleading eyes.

"I have wronged you too Sarah. I never knew you... Were." He stopped and winced, the pain from his leg was getting unbearable.

"I am so sorry for all the ill-treatments I gave you. I know I do not deserve to be called a father. I need your forgiveness. I am so sorry, Sarah. The other day I tried to cut your tongue, I thought you heard the conversation I had on the phone with Chris's dad because immediately I finished making the call, you came out from the kitchen. I thought you eavesdropped. I am so sorry" Frederick begged as Sarah kept crying.

"If mom, sorry. Emily.. had not come home that day, my tongue would have been gone. And.. And.. " Laura hugged her as she cried on her shoulder.

FLASHBACK

ON-CALL

"What do you mean you need more money? It is not yet time for your payment, you are beginning to demand too much" Frederick barked at Liam over the phone.

"I am sorry, but my wife is sick"

"I do not care! You should not ask me for payment until it is due" he placed his hand in his pocket.

"I would have been earning enough if not for your idea. Well, thanks to my stupid big mouth! If only I kept shut about Ruth's twins. I would still be in the--"

"Ok, ok, just shut up! I will wire the money to your account. I am beginning to get fed up with you. You are so annoying"

"Anything you say, sire. I just need some money in my account" the phone beeped and the call had ended.

Sarah immediately walked out of the kitchen and went to where her dad was.

"Hey! Where are you coming from?"

She kept mute and stared at him.

"Did you hear anything?'" She still did not say anything as he held her arms and dragged her to the kitchen.

"It seems you know too much now. I have to get rid of you. I am sick and tired of you. Come here!"

When he got to the kitchen, had taken a knife and held her mouth as they struggled while she cried.

"It is not going to hurt. Just a quick one! Now open up!" He yelled as she cried and tried to bite his fingers.

"Sarah! Is that you?" Emily's voice was heard from the living room.

"Where are you?"

END OF FLASHBACK

There was silence in the cottage as Ruth's breathing was sounding funny.

"Ruth, if I knew you were pregnant, I swear. I would not have. I'm. I.. " he stopped as Ruth cried.

"Do not just start. I tried to tell you. But.. See. I... You did not come to the cottage and I was not allowed to see you" she stuttered as she held her head.

"Why is no one talking about me? What is happening?" Emily cried?

"You are always selfish, Emily," Frederick scowled at her.

"This is not happening, why? What... I can not stand this... You guys are kidding. I know so. You are just being hilarious right now and I am not going to -- hehehhehe, nope, so not happening" she said as she fell to the ground and passed out.

"Guys, give me a hand please," Peter said as he rushed to her and checked her pulse, and rested his head on her stomach to check her breathing.

"She is not breathing, we have to do something," he said as he glanced towards them.

Elena was sitting on the ground confused, while Alex, Laura, and Sarah ran to Emily.

"Mom! Please wake up!" Sarah said as she started giving her mom CPR.

"Please do not die on us," Peter said as they tried to revive her.

"Let us take her to the hospital," Elena said standing up as she glanced to the Mayor, who happens to be her dad, and then to her mom.

"Take three of them to the van, they need medical attention," Elena said staring at her mom who looked back at her with pleading eyes.

"Finally, you came back to your senses!" Chris frowned.

"Shut up" she fired back as he rolled her eyes.

"We need to call 911," he said.

"Did I not tell you to keep quiet? I am in charge here. I decide what we do and what we do not do" she said.

"So bossy, I wonder how your friends were able to keep up with you"

"You are trying to get under my nerve but I will not give you the chance to. I have a lot on my mind right now and I am not going to allow you to add to it" she faced her mom.

Peter took Emily to the van while Alex untied the Mayor and helped him to the van too.

He seemed strengthless because he had lost lots of blood already.

Peter carried Ruth because she was weaker and could not move an inch.

"Thank you son" she muttered weakly as he scoffed.

"Do not thank me. I am only doing this for Elena. If it were just you, I would not even give you a look" he replied.

"Anyhow it is son. Thank you"

"Where are the keys to the van," Peter asked her.

"In my pocket," she said trembling as he shoved his hand inside her pocket and brought it out, he threw it to Alex who caught it and went to the driver's seat to ignite the engine.

Sarah was in the van with her mom (Emily) while Laura walked up to Elena who was staring at Chris now.

"He is innocent. I think we should let him go, I do not see how he is related to all this" Laura told her as she walked away to where she dropped her gun out of shock.

"No one is innocent"

She picked the gun and walked up to them, Laura was untying him already.

"Laura stop," Elena said as she pointed the gun at Chris who stared at her with a quizzical look.

"Elena put the gun down," Laura said as she frowned.

"Hey! Come on! Do not point the gun at me" he whined.

"Elena! Please, drop the gun"

"Nope, I do not think so. I still have some questions to ask him, I still think there is something fishy about him" She said as Laura darted her gaze at him, who seemed frustrated already.

"Alright, go on with your questions already. I am having a muscle jerk you know. And it hurts badly" He whined as Elena scoffed.

"I am also hungry too. My back aches from this sitting position, I feel like shit right now. So whatever you are going to do, do it fast and let us get on with it. I am tired of seeing and listening to all the shits that have been going on"

"And you can put your gun down, I am going to answer your questions without any reservations" He added as Elena still pointed the gun at him.

"What did you whisper to Sarah that day at school and how the hell did you know the nooks and crannies of Mystic Hollow?" She interrogated.

"Come on, chill bunny. I am not a killer neither am I an accomplice to anyone" he saw she was not smiling at his joke as he breathed down.

"Ok, fine, I was born in Mystic Hollow. I was little when my dad just came home one evening and told me and my mom that we have to move out of town that it was the Mayor's order. Dad never told mom he was retired by the Mayor. Before my dad died, he wrote a letter which I gave to the Mayor, it was about Ruth Gilbert's daughter and that was how I learned about both of you and he warned me seriously not to spill else I would lose my life. And about Sarah, When I moved to her home, she never liked me, her dad prefers me to her and I love getting on her nerves because she does not talk. That day at the school cafe, I only whispered to her that it would be nice if she behaves like a normal human, and then she frowned at that. That was all. So can I get untied now?" He said looking from Elena to Laura. Searching their faces.

"So you knew about the twins long ago?" Laura asked as he scoffs.

"I just said that and I believed you heard me. So can you please untie me?" He asked again as Elena pointed the gun at him.

"Come on, you do not have to point the gun at me. I said I was going to respond to all your questions which I just did" he said as Elena put the gun down.

"What do you want from me? Why do you keep asking Laura about me huh?" She asked as he chuckled?

"You were Sarah's other twin. I was wondering how you both were so different. There was a time I was doubting that you both were truly twins."

"Is that all? You can not just be acting all weird because I and Sarah are different, I am sure of that"

"Ok, ok, ok, you got me. Well, to be candid. I like you. You are a smart ass, Elena. You should know by now. I have a crush on you. That was why. Or should I say had instead of having? Oh boy, you have a bit of a temper! You shot your mom! And you won't take that gun off my face"' He said as Laura and Elena exchanged glances.

"Shut up or I will shut you up myself!" She yelled and pointed the gun at him.

The honking sound of a car was heard outside as Laura and Elena ran out to see.

"Come on guys! Are you leaving me here?" He asked struggling with the rope.

"Wicked bitches!" He muttered to himself.

"Alex!" Elena said as they met him outside. He was in the van and it was empty.

He has gone to drop everyone at the hospital.

"Come on guys, let us go," He said as Laura and Elena hopped in at the back, forgetting Liam there.

"How about Liam. We can not just leave him there" Laura said as Elena breathed down, coming out of the van, she walked back to the cottage.

She picked her mom's pocket knife on the ground and handed it over to Liam who looked at it strangely.

"What is that for? You are not planning to do what I am suspecting, right" He asked. "You will untie yourself. Bye-bye," she said walking away.

"Hey come back! You can not just leave me here! Elena!" He yelled her name.

"Do not be heartless! Elena, please"

"Don not worry, you would be fine " she shouted back at him.

"And how am I supposed to find my way back home?" He asked and started cutting the rope with the knife.

"I thought you knew the nook and cranny of this town?"

"I know the places I have been to. Not here, please, do not leave me here Elena. Come back. I seriously do not know how I would find my way back home"
