"That's not possible, right? It can't be possible! How would Bonnie be Alex's mom?" Elena said confused.
"Grandpa Ethan, how did you know all these? Being able to perceive things of the supernatural, as in, it's just freaking me out," Laura said making her grandpa chuckle.
"I've been expecting this question a long time ago though," he said and smiled.
"When I lost my sight during my encounter with Sarah Bellos, my eyes to the supernatural realm opened. There's always a price to pay for a gift" he said as the children were still confused.
"What are you talking about?" Alex asked wondering the prize his mom had to pay to come back and why she came back.
*. *.
"So tell me, why do you like my Elena?" Bonnie asked lifting one of the pieces on the chessboard.
"Grandma, how old did you say this kid is again?" Edward asked his grandma who was busy preparing meatloaves.
"I'm 9, and can you please not disturb grandma? Focus on the game" She said as Edward swallowed hard.
(This kid is beginning to sound like my mom) he thought.
He encountered her move as she smiled.
"That's a nice move signor," she said looking straight into his eyes.
He swallowed hard because he felt goosebumps when she did that.
"So tell me, Edmund--"
"It's Edward!" He interrupted
"Yh, whatever. What's your motive towards my Elena? I know you're a Casanova, I know one when I see em" she said frustrating him the more as Peter walked up to them.
"Hey Bonnie," he said as she smiled and looked up at him.
"Hey, Peter! What's up? Grandma's meatloaves are almost ready. Right, Grandma?!" She shouted to grandma who was in the kitchen.
"Right Sweetheart!" Grandma replied.
"Yh, you see?" She said to Peter who scratched his head.
"Ahh, yh... Emm, I didn't come for that. I came to borrow your hat" he said hoping she won't suspect him of any cunny act.
"Ok, sure. Take. Be careful with it. That's my favorite" she said handing it over to him which he took gently.
"Thanks. I'm gonna treasure it" he said.
"Yh, you should. That's my baby" she said with a smile and turned to Edward.
"So where were we lover boy," she said as her eyes rested on the chessboard.
"Oh Why! You cheated! This pawn wasn't here!' She gasped as Peter walked back to grandpa's room and stopped when Elena spoke.
"Grandpa, you didn't answer my question. Why did she come back?" She asked again.
"Charlotte Bennett made a promise she couldn't keep. She died while giving birth to Bonnie and couldn't fulfill her promise so she had to come back in form of her child. One must go and one must stay so that nature won't upset balance" Grandpa stated.
"But why is she so into Peter if she came to protect him as she promised?" Alex asked.
"Charlotte came back with only one thing in her memory PETER. So she thinks Peter is her ex-lover that died or she came back for her soul mate, Peter. But trust me, Charlotte doesn't know she came back. She thinks she has been Bonnie all along" Grandpa added.
"Hmm, this is weird" Peter spoke for the first time.
They noticed his presence without glancing at him.
"How come she could speak lots of languages?" Laura asked out of curiosity.
"My mom studied Foreign languages and affairs and she was a love expert too," Alex said as a flicker of tears slid down his cheeks.
He never knew he had been treating his Mother strangely because he thinks Bonnie was too little to be acting weirdly.
"Elena?" he said facing her as she lifted her gaze from grandpa to him.
"My mom's favorite quote was, *your smile looks good on you* she always tell me that when I'm sad or got bullied at school," Alex said remembering when Elena told him that Bonnie always tells her that her smile looks good on her.
"Why doesn't my mom recognize me as her son and my dad as her husband?" Alex further interrogated
"Charlotte isn't permitted to remember anything from her past life. That's the prize she has to pay to occupy her daughter's body" Grandpa said.
"My mom died at the age of 36. Does it means my kid sister is 36 years old?" Alex asked.
"I'm 9 years old, and what're the long faces for?" Bonnie asked entering the room as she walked up to Peter to take her hat.
"And what's the old man doing with my lipstick?" She asked looking at grandpa who was still holding the lipstick Alex gave him.
"And how the hell did it get here?" She asked with a raised brow as everyone in the room stared at her weirdly.
"Hello, Charlotte," Grandpa said to her as she locked her gaze with him.
They remained that way for a while as she frowned and smiled.
"I have no idea why you're calling me by my mom's name old man. Do I look like her that much?" She asked raising her hands in the air.
She stopped and observed everyone in the room as she scratched her hair and stood at akimbo.
"I don't understand why everyone is staring at me as if I'm some sort of ghost, well, I just came here to let you know that grandma's meatloaf is ready and she wants to see you all downstairs. Except for grandpa, she said he never leaves this room" she said and walked to the door and stood.
"Are you guys coming or not?" She asked one last time as she shrugged and walked away.
"Peter you're sitting on the seat next to mine!" She yelled while going away and her voice became faint.
"Yup, she does not know who she is. This is so wow" Peter said as Alex stood dumbfounded.
"Grandpa, Sarah is dead," Elena said lest she forgets.
"Oh my God! The kid is dead?" Grandpa asked shocked as he shook his head in pity.
"Yh, and we were wondering why she didn't see her death coming," Laura asked as Peter nodded at her, indicating she asked a nice question.
"Hmmmmm," grandpa said stretching his legs as he adjusted his shades.
"It is very possible for her to see people's death and not to see hers," Grandpa said making the kids perplex.
"But why? This doesn't make sense at all" Laura lamented.
"It does my dear. That's the life of a psychic, they can see others but they aren't permitted to see theirs. That's the prize they had to pay. Just like me, my natural eyes got blind for the supernatural to be opened. It's nature, we can't upset balance because everything is a give and take" Grandpa explained to them as everything began to make sense to them.
"Grandpa, one last question" Elena said as Grandpa nodded to her.
"I've been hearing voices, trying to reach out to me. I don't know why, but I'm really scared, it's a voice I don't think... " she stopped when Grandpa started chuckling.
"Someone from the other world is trying to reach out to you" he stated.
"By another world, do you mean the supernatural realm?" Peter asked as Grandpa smiled and nodded.
"And Sarah might be in a state of limbo," Grandpa said as they all gasped.
"Grandpa, what do you mean by that?" Laura asked but he had turned his back at them already.
"Grandpa please you can't just turn your back at us. You have to answer please!" Elena cried as Alex and Peter held her back.
"He wouldn't talk to us anymore. He has turned his back at us" Laura sobbed.
"Why does he always do this to us when we need him the most!" Elena yelled and cried as they held her back.
"Come on, let's get her out of here," Alex said as they dragged her outside grandpa's room.
Laura closed the door behind them as she rubbed her hair with her palms.
(Why does life have to be this complicated?) She thought as they all walked to the sitting room
They met Grandma and Bonnie arranging the table for lunch.
"Oh! Your guys are here already. I Was wondering what's taking you guys so long" Edward said as they all sat around the table while Grandma served the meatloaves and ginseng tea.
"Elena, your face looks pale. Are you ok?" Bonnie asked as Elena wiped her face and sniffed.
"I'm good. I'm OK" she said and faced the direction of Grandpa's room.
"So, children, who's gonna pray for the food?" Grandma asked as Bonnie raised her hands excitedly.
She prayed for the food and truth be told, it seems she was the only one excited about it.
Alex, Edward, Elena, Laura, and Peter watched as Grandma and Bonnie opened their dishes and started munching on the meatloaves, and surprisingly, Bonnie (Charlotte) loved them.
"Hmm, I haven't tested this in ages" Bonnie confused as grandma smiled at her.
"I'm glad you love them. Edward and Laura think my meatloaves are awful" Grandma confessed to the amazement of everyone.
"Oh, so she knows?" Edward mouthed to Laura who was as confused as he was.
"Nonsense, your meatloaves are the best. They are made with natural recipes" Bonnie commended earning a meatloaf from Grandma.
"Well, why don't you have mine?" Laura asked pushing her plate to her.
"And mine too," Elena said.
"Me too," Alex and Peter said simultaneously pushing theirs to her.
"I don't mind you having mine too," Edward said smiling as Bonnie looked up to grandma.
"You're right granny, they truly hate your meatloaves," Bonnie said as they all started laughing.

SATURDAY MORNING
It was Saturday morning and the Freaks were back from Bloomspring yesterday.
Everyone's talking about the fire night camp and Elena still doesn't seem interested in it.
"Come on Elena, it's gonna be fun and Liam would be there too" Laura coaxed Elena whose mind was made up already.
"I'm sorry, I don't just feel like going," Elena said applying makeup on Bonnie's face for Nicholas' birthday that would start in an hour.
Peter and Alex were in the sitting room, playing some video games.
"Can you pass me the mascara please?' She asked Laura who passed it over to her.
"Thanks," she said and started applying it on Bonnie's eyebrow.
"Laura" Bonnie called as she flinched and breathed down.
"Yes Ma'am" Laura answered as Bonnie got perplexed wondering why she addressed her as ma'am.
"Ok, I'll take that as a compliment. Just wanted to ask about that Liam of a guy" Bonnie stated as Laura glanced at Elena who was busy with Bonnie's face.
"Ok, I'm listening," Laura said adjusting on the bed.
This story is written by Naomi Innocent.
"Do you love that kid?" Bonnie asked. On the norms, Laura and Elena were supposed to freak out for Bonnie who is 9, calling a 21 years old dude a kid, but they didn't since they've known her true nature.
"Yh, I guess," Laura said.
"You guess? Hope you know there's a clear difference between love and like? You can like someone because of all their qualities and you can love someone despite all their flaws" she said and kept mute as Laura reminisced on what she said.
"Now I want you to ask yourself this question. Do you love Liam or do you just like him?" Bonnie asked the question as Laura opened her mouth to say something but she stopped her.
"Don't tell me, you don't have to say it out loud. I just want you to answer that question within yourself" she said and turned to Elena who was through.
"Thanks, Elena," she said admiring herself in the mirror as Elena handed over her mini purse to her.
She took it and walked out of the room whilst Elena followed her except Laura who was pondering over what she had said.
Alex and Peter saw her climbing down the stairs as they were awed by her little transformation.
"Peter, can you please accompany me to the party?" She asked and for the first time, Peter didn't object before saying yes.
