Chapter 27: Chapter 27

Hearing the strange response from his lovely wife, Lucien sighed.

"How old are you to be able to say that?" he asked curiously.

"I don’t know, pfft... HAHAHAHA!" She started laughing like crazy.

"???" This only confused him more. Why is she suddenly laughing? But he decided not to think about it and said, "Scarlet, you can train me and teach me about vampires?"

Scarlet stopped laughing and looked at him with interest: "Why so suddenly?"

"As I am now, I could easily die," Lucien replied honestly; he was aware that if it weren’t for Scarlet’s arrival, he would be talking to Saint Peter, arguing about all the dark jokes he had laughed at.

And he adds with a big smile that shows all his sharp teeth: "And you’re very strong, I felt it when I tried to grab you... Besides, my senses are screaming that you’re dangerous."

Scarlet’s smile widens. "Good," she said, getting out of bed. "I’ve made a decision."

"What decision?" Lucien looked at her suspiciously.

"We’re going to Romania," she announced with a big smile.

"What...?" He barely had time to react.

Scarlet appeared beside him and lifted him as if he were a sack of potatoes. "We’re leaving~," she sang.

Lucien only managed to say, "Huh...?" Tʜe sourcᴇ of thɪs content ɪs novel_fіre.net

Before disappearing in a red flame.

In the living room, Selene was beginning to get impatient; more than an hour had passed, and there was no sign of Lucien or Scarlet.

’Something must have happened to my darling; that witch is very unpredictable.’ She made a decision, got up from the sofa, and headed for the bedroom.

She opens the door and, upon seeing the scene...

"NOOOO!" She lets out a loud, heart-wrenching scream.

"What’s wrong, Selene?" Roxana and Sesha appear concerned at her side due to the sudden scream.

"My darling is gone." Selene points to the empty room where Lucien and Scarlet are supposed to be. "I knew that damn mover would do something." Anger began to fill her voice, while the temperature dropped rapidly.

"Don’t tell me he went to hand it over to the authorities?" Roxana said, which would be a strong possibility; Lucien had used his powers, exposing them, and worry began to fill her body.

"I don’t think that’s the case," Sesha interjected, calmer than Roxana and Selene, "he probably just took him somewhere."

"Where to!?" Selene asked in a shout, her eyes glowing bright red.

"I don’t know!" Sesha replies, losing her composure a little, and sighs deeply: "If I knew, I would have said so."

"Romania." A woman’s voice is suddenly heard in the hallway.

"Romania?" The three women looked at the black-haired, bespectacled maid, seeking an answer; it’s about her husband!

"That’s right, Lord Lucien is a newly born vampire..." Luna wonders whether she should treat him as an equal, since the power he displayed was not that of someone who had just been turned into a vampire: "And Lady Scarlet is taking him to Romania to train him and teach him more about our society." She finished explaining her reasoning.

"Romania..." Roxana murmured, finding it quite possible, knowing Scarlet’s unpredictable personality, and she couldn’t help but sigh.

"I’m leaving." Sesha turns around.

"Where to?" Roxana asks her.

"To Romania," Sesha replies without turning around and says something to her maid Kronii, then leaves Selene’s house with a parasol to protect her from the sun.

After Sesha left, Roxana and Selene remained.

"Well, I have to take care of some business matters first. You talk to Lucien’s mother." Roxana takes out her phone and calls for a ride.

Shortly after, she left the house as well.

"..." Selene fell silent, with the strange silence that had suddenly fallen over the house, and sighed: "Luna, tell Mayla to go to Romania with my darling Vanessa’s maid, and tonight you’ll come with me to see my mother-in-law," she said in a tired tone.

Luna nods and disappears into the shadows.

"What an exhausting day..." she murmurs as she heads to one of the rooms to sleep for the rest of the day.

Selene and Luna stepped out of the taxi, the cool night air brushing against their faces as the city lights reflected on the wet pavement.

In front of them rose an imposing modern structure, its glass façade gleaming under the moonlight. Expensive sports cars were parked neatly at the entrance, their metallic bodies shining like jewels beneath the fluorescent lamps.

The place exuded wealth and exclusivity —a private hospital for the elite.

Without another word, the two women advanced toward the entrance. Each step they took drew glances from those nearby —patients, doctors, even the guards by the gate.

Their beauty was the kind that demanded attention, not by vanity but by nature; it was magnetic, ethereal, almost inhuman.

As the glass doors slid open with a soft hiss, warm light bathed them, contrasting with the chill of the night outside. A faint aroma of antiseptic and lavender filled the air.

They crossed the gleaming marble floor, their reflections trailing beneath them like shadows. Every movement was elegant, measured —as if the world around them slowed to watch.

At the reception desk, a young nurse looked up, momentarily speechless as her gaze shifted between the two women. She quickly forced a polite smile.

"How can I help you?" asks the receptionist with a professional smile.

"We’re here to see Carmila Ricci."

"Carmila Ricci," the receptionist murmured as she searched for the name on the monitor. After about 30 seconds, she said, "Yes, she’s in room 5C on the third floor."

She then gave her directions to the room.

Selene nodded and walked down the hallway with Luna behind her.

She went up to the third floor and arrived at room 5C.

Selene took a deep breath and opened the door.

When she entered, the air was clean; it didn’t have that cheap disinfectant smell that the previous hospital had. The machines were quiet and state-of-the-art, and in bed, she watched a series about a dragon queen.

Carmila, eating snacks, turns to Selene and smiles: "What are you doing standing there? Come sit next to me." She gestures for her to come closer.

Selene sits down on the edge of the bed, and Luna stands behind her, without saying a word.

"Tell me, what brings you here so unexpectedly? Don’t tell me..." Carmila covers her mouth in surprise and says, "Was my son unfaithful to you?"

"Of course not!" Selene burst out, red as a tomato; the idea that Lucien would be unfaithful to her never crossed her mind.

"It was a joke. I know my son would never be unfaithful to you. I raised him well, you can be sure of that," Carmila smiles amusedly, but she knows that infidelity is not a subject to be taken lightly. "Tell me, why isn’t my son with you? He hasn’t come to visit me in over five days."

"This... the reason why..." Selene panicked, but quickly regained her noble demeanor. "Cough... as I was saying, the reason I came is that my darling was transferred to a branch in Madagascar."

Carmila looks her in the eyes, searching for any sign of deception, but Selene maintains a poker face, without being in the least bit upset.

"So my son was sent to Madagascar..." She murmurs with a sigh. "Has he gotten into a fight with some young teacher who thinks he’s the center of the world?"

"No," Selene shakes her head. "He took that job because the pay was very high and he could pay the hospital bills." She lied naturally.

"I see..." Carmila smiles sadly. Knowing that her son went to such a faraway place just so she could be in a better hospital was something she didn’t expect. ’I’ve really raised a good son,’ she thought with a happy smile.

She takes a deep breath and looks at Selene: "So, the reason you came is to tell me that my son is going to Madagascar, right?"

"I see. And I thought my daughter-in-law was coming to visit me, but I was wrong." Carmila pouted and crossed her arms indignantly.

"No... mother-in-law, that’s not it. I came to tell you that, but also to visit you." Selene tried to justify herself.

"I don’t believe you," Carmila says, turning her face away.

"But... mother-in-law, believe me." Selene lowers her head, cursing silently.

Carmila glanced at her and smiled amusedly at Selene’s expressions, which were too cute, as she tried to clear up the misunderstanding. "There’s no need to get like that, I know my son is more important," she said, returning to normal.

Selene sighed with relief; she really thought her mother-in-law was upset. She was truly a unique woman.

"Now tell me, how has my son treated you?" asked Carmila, munching on a snack.

Selene composes herself, returning to her noble demeanor, and begins to tell Carmila a little about her private life.

Luna, who hasn’t said a word, watches the scene with amusement. She didn’t expect Lord Lucien’s mother to be so unique; she expected her to be much more serious, due to her illness, but she was quite the opposite.
