Laura POV

Luke paced down the room while Sandra was trying to calm him down. So far, he had been more frustrated than any of us. The doctors were yet to give us some feedback and we had been in the hospital since yesterday night till the next morning.

"What's taking him so long," Luke yelled, the nurses around glared at him.

Apparently, we were in their family doctor's hospital.

"Luke you need to calm down," Sandra said trying to talk some sense into the raging Luke.

"I'm gonna kill that guy," Luke said with his fist clinched.

"Hey, look at me," Sandra said as she nudged him.

"I understand that you are worried. We are all worried, the best thing for us to do is to stay calm and we'll get through this," she stated and Luke sighed.

"How can I stay calm when my sister is badly hurt and in a freaking ward, huh? Tell me!" he demanded. It made Sandra flinch and shake bow her head with fear.

"I'm so sorry," he muttered after realizing what he did. "It's okay. I understand, we are all so tensed up," she stated and he sighed.

He pulled her closer to him, into a hug, wrapped his hands on her back and buried his face into her hair and muttered "I am really scared."

She wrapped her hands around him too and breathed out, "We all are."

Even in the worst moments, those two can't seize to amaze me. It's so romantic, how both of them feel safe around each other not minding that they being watched.

The doctor walked slowly to us and we all sprang up on our feets, looking terrified.

"How is she? Can we see her now?" Anne asked.

"I'm sorry, you can't see her now but she's awake," he stated and we all sighed in relief.

"Mr Howard I would like to speak to you in my office" he said.

"What about us, we deserve to hear what you are going to say," Luke almost yelled.

"Luke, I need to speak to your father in private about some other issues. I'll tell you all if any other thing comes up."

"Okay but can we see her now?" I asked and he sighed, "Not really, like I said I'll inform you when the time comes but for now just relax," he said and I nodded. He smiled at me and he walked away with Mr Howard.

"You know that I don't like this, mom is coming today and Kat is still in the hospital. Why are two bad things happening the same day," Anne sighed as she shrank into her seat.

"How is your mom's arrival bad?" I asked feeling confused.

"It's bad in every way" she stated and she turned to me, "She's so you know, I can even find a word for her. I prefer my dad than her," she blurted.

"She's coming today and there's gonna be chaos. I just want to be free from her for a life time," she said.

"At least you have a mother," I said and she sighed.

"I am sorry, I just.... " she paused. "She made arrangements for me and Luke to get married on Sunday," she said and I gasped.

"But he's in.... "

"love with Sandra and I with someone else? It's just so soon. I don't want to get married now. I mean not with Luke," she said as she stared at Sandra and Luke together. They looked so perfect for each other.

"He treats me just like Luke treats Sandra, with love. I don't think my mother would let me date, not to talk of get married to him. She's on a mission to ruin my life," she stated.

"Apart from wanting to ruin your life, why don't she want you to date him. I mean, you liked him before she and Mr Howard made the agreement right? So why didn't she let you?" I asked.

"Well, it problem is he doesn't reach our standard, not even close. He's not rich at all and mom, well she's being the mom that she is. She won't let me get close to him," she said.

"How did she find out?" I asked. I know am asking a lot of questions but I need to know.

"The guards, maids. I use to have at least 5 guards follow me every where I go. When she found out, she was furious. I had to sneak out of the castle any time I wanted to meet him. Since I knew the castle like the back of my hand, it was easy as pie," she smiled.

"How is he, I mean, what does he look like? Is he handsome?" I asked and she stared at me quizzically.

"Of course he's handsome. He's dirty blond haired, he has not so broad shoulders, he's so dreamy, he has a gorgeous chest and beautiful lips and those beautiful abs... "

"Okay stop there, it's looks like you're the one that's get all dreamy," I stated and a dark blush appeared on her cheeks.

"He seems like a.... " my phone rang in my pocket, "Hold that thought. I'll be right back," I said and dipped my hand into my pocket to bring out my phone.

It's Nelly, what does she want.

I moved a bit far from the others to have some privacy. "Where are you?" she asked over the phone.

"Um... " I stuttered, looking for what to say. I couldn't tell her that am in the hospital because of Mr Howard's daughter who apparently almost killed herself before of maybe, a guy.

"Don't answer me, just come to school fast. Remember we have to submit our project today," she said and I gasped. I totally forgot and I am the one holding the project. Gabriel's gonna get an 'F' because of me.

"I'm sorry I can't," I said and she yelled, "What? Gabriel is looking for you. I had to make him forget about calling you."

"I just can't..... "

"She'll be there in a few minutes," someone said behind me and I flinched.

"Oh, okay..." Nelly replied and I hanged up.

"Luke, I can't go," I protested and turned to him.

"Yes, you can," he said and I sighed. "What if something comes up?" I asked.

"Then I'll call you. Remember my dad owns the school and I'll own it one day too, so I can get you out if I wanted to. You put a lot of effort in your project and now you are willing to give up? That's not the Laura I know," he stated and I sighed.

But.....

"If you think that was a pep talk, you are wrong," I smiled and he glared at me. "Just when I thought you would shower me with praises," he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Wait a minute, I didn't do the laundry yesterday. What will I wear to school," I huffed and he rolled his eyes.

"My dad practically own a school and we don't have some spare uniforms in our house, that would be bad," he stated.

"Which room?" I asked.

"Sandra should go with you, she knows the room," he said.

"No, I just need to know where it is. You need Sandra here, she calms you," I said and he blushed.

"I have never seen you blush before," I stated and he coughed.

"You better get going, it getting late," he said and I rolled my eyes.

"Fred, please take her to the house to freshen up and then to the school," he ordered and Fred nodded and started walking outside and I trailed behind him.

"Is this the door?" I asked Luke over the phone and he groaned and covered his face with his hands. I couldn't find the room so I had your video call him.

"The one at your left," he stated and I nodded, twisting the phone for him to see.

"Yeah, that's the one. Now get dressed or you'll be late," Luke ordered and I rolled my eyes.

"Aye captain!" I saluted with a chuckle and hanged up. I walked into the room, forgetting to close the door behind me.

The room was huge and like other rooms, colourful. I gasped and walked around, my fingers brushed through some fabric, although, it's not only uniforms that were there.

I quickly picked one after I was sure that it was my size. I peeled off my clothes and rushed to the bathroom.

In a few minutes, I was rushing to get into the car of course after putting on my uniform, carefully carrying the project and grabbing my bag. I didn't think of eating though, I don't have the time anymore.

I rushed into the car and hurried Fred up. I think he got the energy to drive from my yelling, yeah!

In some minutes, he stopped in front of the school. I quickly thanked him and rushed out of the car into the school. I'm sure Gabriel and my friends are going to kill me.

I stopped to breath when I was close to the classroom then I walked in slowly, like nothing happened, with a smile on my beautiful face.

The whole class was a graveyard when I got in, "Late coming is highly prohibited in my class," the teacher warned.

"I'm sorry sir Martin, it won't happen again," I assured.

"I hope so, now please take your seat and let's start " he said and I nodded before walking over to my seat.

"Perfect timing," Nelly whispered in my ears and I nodded before I sat down.

"I really don't have time for jokes. Let's just focus," I said and she frowned.

"What's up with you?" she asked.

"Nothing," I responded and turned to Gabriel. "Here's the project," I said as I handed it over to him.

"Okay, why are you late?" he asked.

"I was busy" I stated, "Today is Wednesday, you knew that we we are going to submit our project today so what we're you busy with? Don't tell me that you were with Luke," he whispered-yelled.

"It's none of your business," I replied and he stared at me in disbelief.

"Babe," he called but I ignored him until he shook me, "Leave me alone," I yelled and the teacher coughed.

Now I am in trouble because of him. Ahh!

Again!

"Can you both stand up," He ordered and we obeyed. "Miss Gold, you were late today and now you are yelling in my class," he stated.

"It won't happen again sir," I said while Rachael giggled.

"That's what I heard a minute ago, you better mean it," he snarled and sighed, "Okay, let's get on with it. Submit your projects everyone," he clapped and we are rushed to him with our projects in our hands.

"What's wrong with Laura?" I heard Harper asked. "I don't know but she's acting weird today," I said bit I just ignored them.

I stared at my phone, I have been staring at it for some minutes now and I'm tired. The girls has gone for lunch and I am in here alone.

I stood up and walked to the cafeteria. I sighted my friends and hurried to meet them. They were sitting with Gabriel, Ricky and Max.

"Hey ladies," I smiled and sat down bit they ignored me. "Um, guys," I called again but I got no reply. I don't deserve this, wait, do I?

My phone rang and I quickly picked it up not minding to check the number. "We are in her ward now," Luke said.

"Okay, I am on my way but how will I get out of the school?" I asked.

"Simple, just walk out of the school," he stated and I rolled my eyes.

"It's not that easy Luke" I sighed and turned, ignoring Gabriel's piercing gaze.

"Okay, I'll call the principal and inform him. So you'll go to his office and collect a note or something. I'll text you when I inform him," he said and I nodded.

"I'll be there in a few minutes," I assured.

"You're talking like you have the power to get out of there now," he chuckled and I rolled my eyes.

"Fred is waiting for you outside," he stated.

"Just call him already," I said and hanged up. He's so annoying.

I dropped the phone and glanced back at the others who were staring at me strangely.

"What?" I asked and they all shrugged except Gabriel who gave me a hurt look before he stood up and walked away.

"What's wrong with him?" I asked confused and they sighed. "You're the one to talk about. What's up with you? And why were you calling Luke? Are you cheating on Gabriel?" she asked and I stared at her horrified.

"No way? Where would you get that idea from and how did you know that me and Gabriel are dating?" I asked.

"Firstly, we got it because you've been acting weird and Luke called you so there's something up. Secondly, Ricky told us," Nelly stated and I sighed.

"I don't know if I'm suppose to tell you this, but, Katherine Luke's sister badly injured herself yesterday and she's in the hospital right now. We spent the night in the hospital till today that's why I was late, if not for the project I won't have come. Luke called me and told me that they are now in her ward, Now I have to go. Maybe that's why I've been acting weirdly, but I assure you I wouldn't cheat on Gabriel," I stated and they nodded.

"What happened that she got injured?" Emma asked.

"I don't really know," I blurted out.

"You better explain this to Gabriel before he goes nuts," Max pointed out and I nodded.

"Will do. But right now I have to go," I smiled and stood up.

"Bye," they waved and I waved back before I walked out of the cafeteria.

I dashed towards the principals office and I nodded, "Come in," he said behind the door and I slowly opened the door wide enough to poke my head in before I walked in.

"Oh, Miss Gold I think I know what you are here for, here it is," he said and handed me a piece of paper.

"Thank you sir" I smiled and slowly walked out of his office and ran towards the gate. I showed the security my slip and they let me pass before I ran into the car.

In a few minutes, we arrived in the hospital. Fred led me to her ward and I ran into her arms slightly conscious of the drips.

"Are you feeling okay?" I asked a bit light headed.

"I think that I'm fine now," she smiled and I sighed.

"Thank goodness," I breathed out and she giggled.

"What were you thinking? You had all of us so worried," Anne stated.

"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to that. I was drunk, every thing was a blur, I really can't remember much. I got into my room and I was unleashing my rage on anything I saw, the last thing I remembered was my holding a mirror, I heard some shattering and I started feeling pains all over my body, everything else is blank," she explained and I nodded.

"So what happened that you got angry?" Sandra asked but Kat didn't reply instead she looked over to Luke who was also staring at her. It seemed like Sandra got the message because she said, "Luke can you give us some space a little. It's girls talk, we don't want you to be caught in the web," and we giggled.

He nodded and slowly walked over to Katie and kissed her head before he walked out. I had to stop myself from saying 'Aww'

Immediately he was outside, Kat breathed in and started, "I dumped my boyfriend," and Sandra and Anne stared at her confused.

"I thought that you loved him, why did you dump him " Anne asked and Kat sniffed. "He didn't love me, he loved my money. I thought he was different but he's just like the others," she sniffed and Anne soothed her.

"I'm so sorry," I blurted out and she smiled sadly. "It isn't your fault, it's the world fault. Do you know how many friends, boyfriends I have been with that are after my money? How many times I have been hard broken and lonely? It's just stupid how I taught he wouldn't be like them. I guess, Luke will have someone else to beat up now," she sniffed as tears poured freely from her eyes.

"You know, sometimes I wish that we weren't rich. I would have friends who love my for me and a boyfriend who will care for me. But, I don't really need friends anymore. I have friends right in front of me," she smiled.

"You're gonna make me cry," Sandra said and we all laughed.

I can't believe that she can't find love too. Anne, Luke and Katherine are from wealthy homes but they can't find love in the right places.

Such a wicked world.
