Chapter 37: Chapter 37

I met Dominic at his apartment after leaving Natasha's, I should have stayed with Natasha, but I was desperate to find out what happened in the past, to find out about the so-called maid I wanted to flee with and to know why my dad was keeping all these a secret from me.

"What did you find out about her?" I asked Dominic without hesitation. When your mind's made up to find out the truth, each passing time makes you impatient.

"It is more about you and not her." Dominic's words made me puzzled. I don't understand what he meant, but I knew there was a piece missing, so I was curious to know all about it. "The day you decided to leave with her, your car got hit by a truck." My eyes dilated as he continued. "You both got into an accident."

Accident? I closed my eyes and my head all felt empty, why don't I remember any of these, why was it not in the news. Okay, about that my father can block it, but it is quite odd since I have no memory of it.

I looked at Dominic for more answers. "What about her? Since I am alive, how about the maid?"

"She got admitted to the same hospital as you, but she suddenly disappeared." He handed me a file and I flipped through it waiting for him to continue. "Something is wrong because in there, the time, date and moment she was admitted were recorded, but the time of her departure was not and there was no record of her death either."

I looked up at Dominic when I realized something. "This means she is still alive."

"I think so." Dominic stared at me intensely before he parted his lips to speak. "Russeli, you have to remember her name and your encounter with her, this is the only way to find her."

He was right, I put the file down at his desk. "I was trying to search for those things in my dad's study if I would see any details of her, but I didn't, I came across his safe and I think it should be there, but I don't know the password to it, and I tried all the codes I know, my family birthdays, none seems to match."

Dominic lifts his hands to his chin and seems to be in thought for a while before looking at me. "Since your dad seems to have an obsession for his company, try the date on which the company was established."

This was a good idea and I was sure this must be it, I looked at Dominic, for once in his life he was being helpful, I knew that Dominic never makes up stories and won't lie to me. "I am so sorry for putting you in so many difficulties." I apologized to him, he was here for a vacation, but I was making it hard for him to do that.

"Never mind, I am your friend and friends help each other in times of needs." His eyes glint and he leans over. "But, you will have to repay me later." He told me and I chuckled as I got up from the couch.

"Thank you," I said before leaving his apartment. No matter what happens, I have to find out the truth, and first, I have to open my dad's safe.

I got home and luckily my father was not at home, maybe in his company attending one of those meetings of his. I made my way to his study room and his safe. I put in the company's starting date and just as Dominic had said, the safe opened.

I took out the paperwork that was in there and flipped through some pages then I saw a picture of a young lady. I looked through her profile. First was what job she did for my father and there it was, a maid.

I looked down at the name and then pronounced it. "Malinda...Malinda." I stuttered and then looked at the lady in the picture. First, someone came to my memory and I shook my head since it was absurd. "You look so familiar." I was talking to no one in particular as I touched the image in the picture.

I looked down at her information. She was born on May 8 and came to our house four years ago. My head felt dizzy and a flashback came to me, she poured water on my music script and I barked at her to rewrite them.

I lifted my hand to my head and sat back as I looked at the image in the picture. "Did I hurt you?" I asked the image and I felt something warm rolled down my cheek. I touched it and saw tears. I was crying. I wiped off my tears and closed the safe, taking only her picture with me as I left the study room.

"Malinda Kristen, where are you?" I muttered and looked down the stairs and another flashback came to my mind. I was embracing her and giggling like a kid. I walked down the stairs and in each place I looked, there were new flashbacks and I was happy in all of them.

"I have special ties with you Malinda, I have to remember you." I soliloquize.

atasha's POV.

Sinead handed over the records he had found out, of the people who had gone into the hospital four years ago with their images. I sat in my room and looked through them, they were all nurses and patients and their guardians.

I spotted one image and then looked closer, that person looked familiar. I played the video record I had gotten from Gavin and then matched the image of the masked man to the picture I had now selected from the one Sinead gave me.

"Sinead," I called out to Sinead who stood beside me. "Don't they look familiar?" I asked him, the man in the record was wearing a mask that covered his lips and nose, so only his eyes and curly hair was visible, but I could still see some recognition from the two faces.

Sinead compares the two and nods in affirmation. "Yes, they do."

I leaned back to the chair and took a close look at the picture again. How then did he sneak into the hospital room, bypass the nurses without anyone helping him? All these were not so convincing so I turned to Sinead. "Can you help me by getting the CCTV footage of four years ago?"

"That would be very difficult, but I will do my best to find it out." He assures me.

I flashed him a smile, truly Sinead was very diligent, the best assistant one can get, no questions and he always gives it his best. "Thank you Sinead for your assistant." He gave me a bow and left my room as I turned my attention back to the file he had brought.

Two people who hated me were in that hospital that day. I looked at Mr Gilbert's picture and then at Yvonne's picture, they were the only two that would want Russeli to forget about me, and they were the two people that could be the suspect and link to this mysterious man.
