Chapter 424: Chapter 424
Simon Rhodes directly clarified Shane Royale’s gentle question: "Don’t waste your efforts, Grandpa. Besides Skylar, I won’t marry anyone else."
Shane Royale felt a bit angry, but pretended to be helpless and sighed, choosing to switch to a less offensive tactic instead of ordering with his elder status.
"Simon, Grandpa knows you are deeply in love, but haven’t you realized yet? She herself admitted she’s been deceiving you. She doesn’t actually like you, and now you don’t even know where she is. Don’t be stubborn and remain blind."
Simon Rhodes explained, "Grandpa, she’s only saying that due to external pressure, afraid of implicating me. I know what kind of person she is very well."
Shane Royale: "But now she is missing. If she never returns, will you never marry?"
Simon Rhodes replied sullenly: "Yes."
Shane Royale was furious but pretended to be calm, earnestly persuading, "Grandson, think it over. Who was most worried about you during your recent illness and hospital stay? Wasn’t it us, the family? That woman didn’t even bother to come and see you. You’re waiting here for her, but maybe in a few months she’ll be with someone else."
Simon Rhodes looked grim, clearly unhappy with what he heard.
Shane Royale: "I’m already old and won’t live much longer. Your parents left early, and I’ve raised you and your brother single-handedly. Now Vincent is settled, and I’m only worried about your lifelong matter. You’re not anxious, but I don’t have much time to wait."
Listening to the side, Shannon Quinn couldn’t help but say, "Grandpa, Skylar is my friend. How about I try to contact her and wait..."
Grandpa immediately interrupted Shannon Quinn: "Shannon, don’t meddle. Who knows if I’ll be able to see my granddaughter in my lifetime."
Shannon Quinn shut her mouth unhappily.
"Anna is a nice girl, smart and sensible. Try getting to know her; you might end up liking her?"
Simon Rhodes insisted, "I will find her and bring her back."
Shane Royale: "Both brothers are so stubborn!"
Vincent Rhodes: "Why drag me into this conversation?"
Simon Rhodes: "I have to go, things to do."
Watching Simon Rhodes leave, Shane Royale was full of anger and turned to Landon Sutton: "As his brother, can’t you persuade him?"
Vincent Rhodes said, "Grandpa, just because you’re older doesn’t mean you can act unreasonable. This problem is beyond your control, how can I manage it?"
Shannon Quinn hurriedly went to calm Grandpa: "Grandpa, why not give my older brother some more time? I’ll also try to contact Skylar, have her come back and clarify things with my brother. Whether they choose to stay together or break up, let them decide face-to-face, so my brother can let go of his hopes. How does that sound?"
Shane Royale thought for a moment and said, "You see, when the two are together, they stir up trouble, and Vincent ends up handling the aftermath."
Shannon Quinn: "But Grandpa, you’ve seen my brother’s determination. Do you think he will give up if Skylar doesn’t personally say they’re breaking up? Moreover, if they truly love each other, I think the rumors don’t matter. Look at me and Vincent; when we first married, we went through similar circumstances. Aren’t we doing well now? We might as well leave these things to be tested by time."
Shane Royale was unwilling to let Susan Wilde return and cause more chaos, but he also found Shannon Quinn’s words reasonable.
After a moment of silence, he asked Shannon Quinn: "You say you’re good friends with that girl. What do you think of her?"
Shannon Quinn: "Anyway, the things she clarified in the news are certainly false. After she married Shawn, he treated her poorly, often hitting her. So, she would never team up with Shawn against Simon. Saying that was just to shoulder the responsibility herself and prevent Simon from being implicated. Grandpa, do you think someone like that would be a bad person?"
Shane Royale sighed, "But their being together will ruin the Rhodes Family’s reputation!"
Shannon Quinn: "My brother is upright and honest. Even if people criticize them initially, I believe he will use time to prove the Rhodes Family’s honor and innocence."
Shane Royale felt quite helpless and finally only said, "Then try to contact that girl."
For a moment, he almost regretted persuading Susan Wilde to leave initially, but he never thought his grandson would be so stubborn!
When Shannon Quinn went back, she visited Iris’s school. Iris still said her sister hadn’t contacted her.
However, there was a hint of hesitation in her words, and her eyes were somewhat evasive, as if she was lying.
Susan Wilde cares most about her sister Iris. She may leave anyone else but would never abandon Iris.
Shannon Quinn explained her intention to Iris about finding Skylar, and Iris simply said if her sister contacted her, she would inform them.
She was possibly thinking of calling Susan Wilde to discuss whether to reveal it to Shannon Quinn.
Returning home at night, Shannon Quinn was soaking in the bathtub when her phone rang and knocking sounded at the door simultaneously. As she opened her eyes, she saw a shadow standing by the bathroom door. Landon Sutton’s voice came in: "Your phone is ringing."
Shannon Quinn sank further into the bubble bath, completely concealing herself, then said to the outside, "Bring it in for me."
Landon Sutton pushed open the door, gave her a quick look, and seeing her reaching out from the tub to grab the phone with hands covered in bubbles and water, helped connect the call and set it to speaker.
"Who is it?" she softly asked Landon Sutton.
Landon Sutton placed the phone within reach and said, "No contact saved."
After speaking, he turned and left the bathroom.
Shannon Quinn tentatively spoke, "Hello? Excuse me, who’s this?"
The other end of the phone was silent for two seconds before a voice sounded: "Shannon, it’s me."
Upon hearing this voice, Shannon Quinn abruptly sat up from the tub, glanced at the phone screen displaying the number, possibly a public telephone.
"Skylar? Where are you?"
Susan Wilde: "...I’m doing well now. I heard Iris said you were looking for me?"
Shannon Quinn couldn’t help but scold her: "Do you think I wouldn’t look for you?! All this mess and you didn’t discuss it with us. Simon and I were worried sick! Where did you run off to? Not a single call! Are we not your friends?" Newest update provided by Nove1Fire.net
Susan Wilde apologetically said: "Sorry Shannon, I was just temporarily afraid of contacting you."
Shannon Quinn: "I understand your situation now, but if you need secrecy, I wouldn’t betray you! Where have you run to? If you tell Simon and me, we can help you!"
