Chapter 317: Chapter 317

Landon Sutton turned her body around, gently wiping away the tears at the corner of her eyes with his fingertips. He didn’t ask why she was upset because perhaps her emotions were related to the pregnancy, or maybe it was because she truly cared about him and was especially concerned about him interacting with other women.

It was just like how he didn’t like seeing her with other men, even if he knew they were just friends and colleagues; he didn’t enjoy seeing her get too close to any other male.

Shannon Quinn buried her head in his chest, feeling that being held was more comforting than any words could be.

She also reflected internally that she shouldn’t behave this way. If there was any fault, it seemed like there wasn’t anyone truly at fault. He just entertained a friend, which was completely normal and didn’t do anything to betray her.

Faced with her unreasonable behavior, he had to patiently coax her and apologize to her.

Upon closer reflection, she didn’t really know what she was upset about. Her emotions seemed like a fleeting moment; it was when she saw him leave her alone that her heart became chaotic.

She nestled in his arms and quickly fell asleep again.

Landon Sutton merely took a short nap. Once she was deeply asleep, he gently got up, carefully drew his sore arm from under her head, propped a pillow under her, tucked her in, and returned to the office to continue working.

When Shannon Quinn woke up, it was already dark outside.

She opened her eyes, staring blankly at the ceiling for a moment before getting out of bed. She opened the door to see Landon Sutton sitting at his desk going through some files.

"Awake?" He looked up at her with a slight smile.

Shannon Quinn didn’t say a word, walked over to him, and directly picked up his water cup, drinking down more than half of it. Find the newest release on N0veI.Fiɾe.net

Landon Sutton chuckled and teased, "Drink more, to make up for what you cried out."

Shannon Quinn put down the cup and wiped her mouth with the back of her hand before finally speaking: "You just love making me upset!"

Landon Sutton put an arm around her waist, seating her on his lap and holding her close: "Next time you’re upset, you can hit me or scold me, just don’t hide away and cry alone. It pains me."

Shannon Quinn pouted, feeling a little embarrassed for having cried the whole afternoon over such a trivial matter, and changed the topic by asking, "What’s for dinner?"

"What do you feel like eating?"

"Hot pot again, sour boy and spicy girl, looks like it’s a girl in your belly for sure."

Shannon Quinn grasped Landon Sutton’s hand, looked at his watch, and noticed it was already past six, quickly asking, "Where’s Leo?"

"I asked Mom to pick him up, they’re probably strolling in the park now."

Shannon Quinn breathed a sigh of relief: "When will you get off work?"

"Since you’re awake, I’m off work."

Landon Sutton patted her on her butt, making Shannon Quinn stand up. Once he had packed up, they left together.

On the way to the hot pot restaurant, that female classmate called Landon Sutton again. His phone was set up with navigation on the dash, so when the call came in, Shannon Quinn naturally saw it too.

He kept both hands on the steering wheel and told Shannon Quinn, "Hang up for me."

Shannon Quinn reached over but answered the call instead, putting it on speakerphone, and directly said, "Hello?"

Hearing a woman’s voice, there was an obvious pause on the other end, then the classmate asked, "Are you Nate’s wife?"

Shannon Quinn replied straightforwardly, "Yes, what do you need him for?"

"He’s driving, go ahead, he can hear you."

"Oh, Nate, about the document you mentioned this afternoon, there are a few parts I still don’t quite understand. Where are you now? Is it convenient if I come over?"

Shannon Quinn didn’t speak, looking over at Landon Sutton, who directly responded, "I’m having dinner with my wife. Tomorrow, I’ll send my assistant over to discuss it with you."

"Won’t your assistant be unfamiliar with this? Maybe I should wait until you’re free to go over it?"

"I’m quite busy for a while; my assistant is well aware of these things. I can send someone over to help you sort it out, so you won’t need to make another trip. Okay, let’s leave it at that for now, I’m driving."

Shannon Quinn moved closer and said to the phone, "Bye-bye."

Then she hung up the call.

Landon Sutton specifically looked at Shannon Quinn’s expression to make sure she wasn’t upset before he felt relieved.

Shannon Quinn switched back to the navigation page and said, "If she’s your classmate, she should be around thirty, right?"

"Does she not have a partner?"

"How would I know? I wasn’t very familiar with her during my time studying abroad, we’re just acquaintances, haven’t kept in touch for a long time. We just chatted briefly when we met at the last banquet."

Shannon Quinn pouted and said, "I trust that you won’t do anything to betray me, but sometimes, even if you don’t provoke others, they might still come after you, especially women who hide behind the guise of being a friend or classmate, they’re the most dangerous! It’s not that I’m petty, but you need to be careful and keep your distance from her."

Landon Sutton responded with a doting smile and nodded, "Got it."

Shannon Quinn continued to analyze, "Think about it, since you said what she needs help with can be done by any one of your assistants, I can’t believe she doesn’t have any other friends who know about this stuff. Why does she have to come to you? I feel her intentions aren’t good."

"Isn’t your husband quite something? So many women want to steal me, and yet you managed to win me over. Do you laugh to yourself every night?"

Shannon Quinn frowned and glared at him: "You’re the one who’s secretly pleased. I have plenty of people chasing after me too, you know?"

"Seems like I need to feed you a bit more."

"After I’ve had the baby, I’m signing up for fitness classes."

"No way," Landon Sutton flatly refused, "if you want to work out, I’ll train you."

Shannon Quinn smiled quietly at the road ahead, not responding, and simply switched the music in the car.

During dinner, Shannon Quinn saw an advertisement at the restaurant for a travel island that she’d previously seen recommended online by others.

She looked across at Landon Sutton and asked, "You said you’d take me on a trip, how much longer will that be? Look, I’m already starting to show, and once my belly gets bigger, I won’t want to go out."

"Early next month, let’s wait until Leo starts school before we go."

"Aren’t we taking Leo?"

"No, dragging a little guy like him along won’t get a thing, we’ll wait until he’s a bit older to take him out."

Shannon Quinn pouted, "Poor Leo loves his daddy so much."

Landon Sutton chuckled and said, "Let’s take advantage of the time before our daughter arrives to live a bit of a couple’s life. Once she’s here, we won’t have such chances."

"I want to go to Cinderfall Island, I’ve seen photos from others in my friend circle, it looks especially beautiful."
