Chapter 316: Chapter 316

The woman had sexy, voluminous waves that exuded the charm of a mature woman.

Soon after, Landon Sutton came out, standing by the door and chatting with the woman about something.

After the two exchanged a few words, Shannon Quinn didn’t see anyone else come out, causing her to frown.

She thought to herself, when discussing work, shouldn’t there be a secretary or assistant present? Two people, a man and a woman, alone in an office for so long? What kind of confidential matters are they talking about?

What really unsettled Shannon Quinn was when the woman turned around, and she recognized her as the same woman who had been talking to Landon Sutton at the party that night!

This made Shannon Quinn unable to sit still. She immediately stood up and walked toward the two.

The female classmate was about to leave, but when she saw Shannon Quinn approaching, she stopped and smiled at her.

Shannon Quinn felt dissatisfied inside, but on the surface, she maintained a polite demeanor, looking at Landon Sutton and saying, "Isn’t this your classmate?"

Landon Sutton simply pulled Shannon Quinn into his arms and, unexpectedly happy to see her, asked, "When did you get here?"

"I’ve been waiting for you for ages. Your assistant said you were inside discussing matters with someone and wouldn’t let me in. Turns out you were chatting with an old classmate."

"Nate, if there’s nothing else, I’ll head out first. Let’s have dinner sometime when you’re free."

Landon Sutton nodded, hugging Shannon Quinn as they escorted the woman to the elevator. They exchanged a few more pleasantries before she left.

As soon as the elevator doors closed, Shannon Quinn flung Landon Sutton’s arm off her and walked sullenly into his office.

Landon Sutton was momentarily baffled, but after catching up with her in a few strides, he asked, "Jealous again?"

Shannon Quinn, with a sullen expression, didn’t speak. She walked into his office and sat on the couch, noticing the teacups on the coffee table from their earlier chat.

Landon Sutton sat beside Shannon Quinn, reached out to move the stray hairs from her ear, and said, "Her dad is opening a branch office here and came to ask for my advice, that’s all we talked about."

"Consult away, I’m not saying you can’t talk."

Shannon Quinn turned her head away, her voice muffled, "I’m just mad. Don’t mind me."

Landon Sutton chuckled, "Seems like I won’t be having any peaceful days."

Shannon Quinn sneered, her voice dripping with sarcasm, "Whoever can give you peaceful days, just go with them. Worst case, I’ll just raise the child on my own again. It’s not like I haven’t done it before."

"You can throw tantrums, but if you keep saying things like that, I’ll have to teach you a lesson."

Shannon Quinn, still seething, didn’t want to talk to him. She knew Landon Sutton wouldn’t do anything out of line, but she was still mad that he met the classmate privately despite knowing how much it bothered her.

"Alright, I have a meeting soon. Go rest in the lounge for a while."

Shannon Quinn still turned her head away, refusing to talk to him. Just as Landon Sutton was about to say something else, his assistant knocked on the door, reminding him that the meeting was about to start.

He coaxed Shannon Quinn a couple of times, but she remained silent, thinking she would listen to him only after he finished the meeting and her anger subsided somewhat.

"I’m off to the meeting. It’ll likely take a couple of hours. If you’re sleepy, rest in the lounge. Don’t wander off."

He glanced at her a couple of times; she still ignored him, and only after the assistant came to urge him again did Landon Sutton grab his files and leave.

Shannon Quinn suddenly felt even more wronged, feeling that he had time to chat with his female classmate but not to comfort her a bit more.

Knowing well that she was being unreasonable, the thought of him being alone with that woman for so long still made her uncomfortable.

She wasn’t this petty before, but now, for some reason, she had become sensitive, the more she thought about it, the more upset she became. It felt like Landon Sutton used to prioritize her, and now, after hanging out with the classmate, he didn’t care about her anymore. Did he not love her as much as he used to?

Lost in thought, she became more and more aggrieved and even started to shed tears.

Shannon Quinn wiped them away with her hand, stood up, walked into the adjoining lounge, and wrapped herself in the blanket.

She felt like the unluckiest woman in the world, carrying her husband’s child but not receiving his affection. She was his wife, yet she couldn’t compare to his classmate...

The more she cried, the more pitiful she felt. She was sorrowful and had no one to comfort her.

During his meeting, Landon Sutton was distracted, preoccupied with thoughts of the still-angry woman.

During a break, he even sent her a message asking if she had slept but received no reply.

As soon as the meeting ended, Landon Sutton went straight back to his office. Seeing no one inside, he wondered if she had gone home in anger.

Puzzled, he opened the door to the lounge, he only relaxed upon seeing her lying in bed.

But noticing her appearance, he felt a bit distressed.

She was asleep, but it was clear she had cried herself to sleep and hadn’t been asleep for long.

Her temple hair was damp with tears, sticking to her face, her eyelashes were still wet, and her eyes and nose were red, making her look quite pitiable.

Landon Sutton was a bit surprised. He didn’t think it was anything serious, just a chat with an opposite-sex friend, and thought she was just throwing a fit. But he hadn’t expected her to cry over this. Googlᴇ search novel fire.net

He sat on the edge of the bed, brushed her hair away from her face with his hand, and picked up the tissues on the nightstand to gently wipe her face.

He moved as quietly as he could, but perhaps she wasn’t in a deep sleep, for she awoke.

She blinked at him, seemingly not entirely aware yet, then remembered her anger and turned her back to him with a pout.

Landon Sutton was amused by her stubbornly adorable demeanor, feeling both amused and a bit sorry for her.

He took off his jacket, removed his watch, and climbed under the covers, hugging her from behind with a soft laugh, "Cried for two hours?"

Hearing his words, a flood of grievances surged in her heart again, and her recently dried eyes moistened once more.

Seeing she was truly upset, Landon Sutton didn’t tease her further. He sincerely reflected, "It’s my fault, I didn’t realize how much this would bother you. In the future, I’ll avoid meeting with her. Even if it’s work-related, I’ll have others handle it, okay?"

"Please don’t be mad. There’s still the baby in your belly. For the baby’s sake, forgive me this time."

Hearing his apology, Shannon Quinn felt a lot better. Even she thought she was being petty. It wasn’t really a big deal, and she didn’t understand why she felt so wronged, as if she were upsetting herself.

Maybe he really had spoiled her. She didn’t use to be so temperamental.
