Chapter 301: Chapter 301
She turned around after speaking, took only two steps, and heard Simon Rhodes’s voice behind her: "But you’re not happy."
Susan Wilde paused her steps, didn’t answer, and ran away with her skirt lifted.
As soon as she entered the hall, she bumped into Shawn Rhodes coming down the stairs. She felt guilty and didn’t dare to meet his eyes, quickly walked to the other side.
Shawn reached out and grabbed her arm, pulling her into a dimly lit, deserted hallway, looking down at her coldly and asked, "What’s in your hand?"
Susan gripped the box tightly, instinctively hiding it behind her back. Before she could explain, Shawn reached over, pulled her hand open, and snatched the box away.
He opened it, looked at it, let out a mocking laugh, and raised his eyes to her: "You’ve got quite the skill, Susan Wilde."
She pretended to be calm and said, "...Just a pair of earrings, give them back to me."
Shawn laughed, mimicking Simon Rhodes’s earlier gesture, moving the hair from her shoulder to behind it: "Your hair is beautiful."
A sense of awareness hit Susan, realizing that Shawn had seen her meeting with Simon Rhodes earlier.
"You’re usually quite reserved in front of me, aren’t you? Tell me how you seduce men outside?"
Shawn glanced at the box in his hand, then at the tall ventilation window in the hallway. He raised his hand without hesitation and tossed the earrings along with the box out, then turned to Susan, moving even closer: "Why seduce anyone when you can seduce my uncle? Do you think he has more power to offer you greater benefits?"
"Come on, show me how you seduce him, ?" He said, raising one of Susan’s legs, pressing it against her body without leaving a gap.
Susan reached out, trying to push him away, but he used the advantage of strength to grab both her wrists, holding her tightly.
The voice-controlled lights in the hallway went off, and in the darkness, she could feel his disrespectful hands.
"Let go!" She growled, and the lights came back on.
Shawn chuckled lightly: "When other men do this to you, you’re probably very willing."
"You don’t have the right to talk about me!"
"I don’t have the right? Today, I’ll show you whether I have the right or not."
His head approached her as he spoke, and Susan frowned, turning her face aside in disgust.
This gesture perfectly showcased the lines of her neck, coupled with the strapless dress she was wearing today, it was undoubtedly fatal allure to a man.
In that moment, Shawn dismissed all thoughts from his mind, including the sound of approaching high heels.
Rowan Alder found the scene absolutely glaring: "What are you doing?!" Nᴇw novel chapters are publɪshed on Nove1Fire.net
Rowan’s voice restored Shawn’s sanity, he quickly lifted his head from Susan’s neck, and Susan took the opportunity to push him away forcefully, escaping to the other side.
"Vixen!" Rowan Alder cursed as she stepped forward, raising her hand towards Susan’s face.
This time Susan blocked the impending slap, preparing to retaliate when Shawn grabbed her wrist tightly, pushing her backward.
Unfortunately, there were steps behind her. Susan stumbled, her high heel twisted, but she luckily grabbed hold of the stair railing to prevent falling down.
Rowan Alder pointed at Susan Wilde, cursing her, while Shawn coaxed and hugged her as they moved outside.
The hallway quieted down, Susan sat on the stairs, rubbing her aching ankle, lifting her skirt to look at the scrape on her calf.
After sitting for a while, Shannon Quinn called to inquire, prompting her to get up and, despite the pain, to act as normal as possible as she returned to the hall.
"Skylar, why did you take so long?"
"Ran into an old client, chatted for a bit."
Sitting back down, Susan suddenly caught Simon Rhodes’s gaze from not far away. She hurriedly looked down, pretending not to see.
Shannon Quinn was laughing and chatting when suddenly she noticed a charming woman in a red dress standing in front of Landon Sutton.
Although the two weren’t making any intimate gestures, just seemingly talking, the red-dressed woman’s smiling and flirtatious look made Shannon feel uncomfortable.
"You guys chat, I’m going over there." Shannon said and stood up, heading straight towards where Landon Sutton was.
She went over and directly looped her arm through Landon’s. Landon simply looked down at her sudden appearance, conveniently wrapping his arm around her, immediately ending the conversation with the woman, and asked Shannon: "What’s up?"
Shannon sized up the woman in the red dress, her intuition as a woman told her that this woman was not simply a business partner.
"Honey, when are we going home?"
The woman curled her lips into a smile, looking at Landon: "Is this your wife? I read the news about your wedding on the newspaper. I wasn’t in the country then, otherwise, I would’ve attended."
Landon nodded with a smile, generously introducing Shannon Quinn: "She’s Shannon Quinn."
Shannon, being sensible, wouldn’t act petty in front: "Who is this? Aren’t you going to introduce her?"
Before Landon could speak, the woman in the red dress introduced herself: "I was classmates with Nate abroad during our study; it’s been a while since we last met, surprised to bump into him here."
Hearing the woman call him "Nate," Shannon felt a twinge of jealousy, she hadn’t called him that intimately yet.
Landon wrapped his arm around Shannon, smiled at the woman: "Then please excuse us."
The woman nodded: "Alright, I’m about to return to develop domestic businesses, maybe we’ll collaborate. See you another day."
Landon just nodded politely and then walked away with Shannon: "Did you eat enough? Want to go back now?"
Shannon said she was tired just as an excuse, turning around she sourly said: "You had quite a joyful chat with your female classmate."
Landon was taken aback but laughed: "Why do you get jealous over random things? Just met a familiar face, chatted casually."
Shannon pouted: "She calls you Nate, how familiar is that?"
"That’s how old friends called me; it was when I was eighteen or nineteen."
Shannon kept pouting, Landon squeezed her chubby cheeks: "Put your lips away."
Instead of listening, Shannon rolled her eyes, looking funny and adorable, making Landon giggle. He leaned down to gently peck her lips, she then immediately resumed normal and glared at him playfully: "So many people, don’t you know how to be shy?"
"Yana, tired of playing? If you’re tired, Nate will take you home."
"Yana, why are you cursing?"
Shannon bared her teeth and growled at him: "Behave yourself!"
