Chapter 62: Chapter 62
Third POV.
“Am sorry but Aurora did not tell me your name,” Leila said as she looked at the woman whom she had been told was Jordan’s mate.
“Gosh. No need to remind me that I forgot to tell you,” Aurora said as she halted.
“My name is Doris,” the woman said with a smile on her face.
“I am Leila. Hope we will be good friends who look out for each other,” Leila said as she smiled.
“Yes, we will,” Doris replied.
“With these guys here, I don’t think I need to worry about you,” Elana said as she looked at how her sister was socialising with others.
“”Don’t tell me that you are now thinking of leaving me here. Please stay a little longer,” Leila said as she held her sister's arm firmly as if she was afraid that if she did let go, Elana might leave her.
Seeing her behaving like a spoiled brat, Elana smiled and patted Leila’s head before saying, “I am not leaving now. I was just speaking about when I will leave.”
Leila nodded her head and started looking at the scenery in front of her. The green trees and grass made her smile as she had always been a nature’s girl.
At the furthest end, she saw an old woman carrying firewood. This made Leila frown as she wondered why an elderly person like the woman was not being helped and she could see kids and teenagers nearby, others playing and others seated while chatting.
Leila led go of her sister’s arm and started running in that direction.
The others frowned as she wondered what she was up to. They all knew that she was just discharged thus she was not strong enough to start running around. They were afraid that she might get hurt and their king would be mad at them. They didn’t want to sound selfish but they were just afraid of the man when he was extremely angry.
Elana and Marcus frowned a bit but they relaxed after seeing the old woman. Elana knew what they had always been taught by their mother and the right thing to do thus, it also pained her when she saw that scene of an old woman struggling.
When the others who were with them saw Leila stopping in front of the woman without even knowing who she was or whether she might be in trouble they felt bothered as they wondered what they should really do. They hurriedly walked towards her since she was their future queen and had to help her out.
“Young girl, can you please excuse me?” the old woman asked Leila when she stood on her way.
“Ma’am, you are so old. You aren’t supposed to be carrying such a heavy load since you may end up getting hurt,” Leila said as she started taking the firewoods from the woman.
“Child, I don’t have anyone to help me, so I need to do that on my own. If I say that I won’t go and fetch firewood just because I will get hurt then I am afraid I might end up dying of hunger,” the old woman said.
“You are so old. I think I am even supposed to call you grandma instead of ma’am. Don’t worry, I will help you out. Lead the way,” Leila said as she lifted the load.
“My queen, what are you doing? Let us carry it if you want to help her,” Jordan said when he saw her lifting it.
He and Eric were so anxious, afraid that she might get hurt and their work is protecting her.
“Queen? Are you the queen of our land?” The old woman said as she lifted her head to look at Leila.
“Uhm…” Leila wondered what she should say because to her, she was not the queen yet but the fact that everyone had already started calling her the queen and treating her like one.
“She is our king’s mate. Our future queen. If it weren’t for the fact that we were ambushed yesterday, she would have been passed as our queen,” Eric said when he saw her hesitating.
“Ah, I remember you know. You are the little girl Aiden said is special. Indeed, I can sense it from here,” the woman said, making the family of three and Aurora panic while the others looked at them with questioning eyes.
Eric knew she was special cause he was with her yesterday and saw what she did but he did not think he had to tell the others as Aiden had not told them thus proving that it was supposed to be kept as a secret.
“Don’t be afraid, child. I can tell that you are a good person since you stopped by to help us. You are just like your mother and your mate’s mother, mmh,” the old woman said, shocking them.
“You knew my mother?” both Elana and Leila asked in unison.
“Lyannette? Yes I know. It is sad that the women who were so kind and could lead our land died but I am glad to come across you girls. It seems you’ve talked after your mother. Princess Aurora, you too,” the woman said.
“How did you know our mom?” Leila asked as she was curious.
“I understand that you are curious but our gamma is getting tired thus we have to get going. I will answer all your questions on the way or when we arrive,” the woman said, making everyone turn in the direction she was going.
“Please tell me as we walk,” Leila said as she walked beside the woman.
“Every man or woman who saved that time and is still alive knows about your mother. About your existence, not everyone knows about it, only the chosen ones,” she said, making Elana look at her.
“What do you mean when you say the chosen ones? Also, if it true about what you say then was Josiah also present during that time?” Elana asked out of curiosity.
“Josiah? No, he wasn’t. He was found two years after the battle ended. Some werewolves and lycans have gifts gifted to them by the moon goddess. For us, we were given before the battle so that we can defeat our enemies,” he woman explained.
“Sorry but we need to go back. Leila, you’ve been supposed to be in the arena.”
