Chapter 58: Chapter 58

Third POV.

They all looked at the person who interrupted them and frowned.

Leila and her maternal family recognized him as one of the men who escorted them out of the ballroom when the rogues attacked but they still couldn’t remember his name.

“What does he want?” Aiden was coldly clearly not pleased with the interruption.

“He claims that his daughter went missing yesterday night,” Matteo answered as he looked at his partner who had just walked in with him.

Hearing the answer, Aiden chuckled coldly as he knew that whatever was going to take place wouldn’t be so simple or peaceful. He hated it since they had just woken up and they had not even taken breakfast.

“Since it seems that it is a very important matter, as the king, I can’t turn a blind eye to it, can I?” he asked coldly without asking anyone in particular.

Everyone was holding their breaths since the room’s temperature was so low and they were also afraid of making him mad.

“Since I can’t, why don’t you invite that old fellow so that we can finish this once and for all? We haven’t had our breakfast and we are so hungry,” he said to them.

“Yes, my king,” they said as they bowed down to him.

“Eric, stay here. Let Matteo go and bring him up,” Aiden said

“Okay,” the man who had interrupted Aurora said as he sat on the nearby sofa.

“No one should mention that Madeline was captured. I want to see what kind of tricks the old man has on his sleeve,” Aiden said, making everyone nod.

Even though some were not present there, he knew that they already knew since Aurora could never keep her mouth shut on something so juicy like that. She had to tell them what had happened to her enemy.

At the same time, the family of three could tell that the person called Elijah Simon was Madeline’s father. Knowing this, they could understand why Aiden was so angry but no one present tried to make him calm down since they were all waiting for a good show.

“Aiden, where is my daughter?” An angry voice at the door’s entrance, made everyone look in that direction.

“Where is your daughter? Why ask me when I have nothing to do with your daughter? Am I her father, brother or lover?” Aiden asked angrily.

The old man was so angry that he wished he would teach Aiden some manners. He stood in front of him as he glared at him.

“You know who you are to her better than anyone else, Aiden!” he shouted.

Both Eric and Jordan were displeased with how he was talking. He didn’t seem like someone who was there to ask for help but rather to cause trouble.

“With all due respect, Elder Simon. You shouldn’t address the king by his name as the rules instruct. From your attitude, it clearly shows that you don’t respect our king,” Jordan said as he stood up.

“He is right. When you were just outside, you said your daughter went missing and you need the king’s help but what you have done and said so far since you walked in makes us wonder whether what you said was true or whether you were just making up stories so that you can get in here and cause trouble,” Eric said as he glared at him.

Hearing their words, the old man knew that he had just lost control and the last thing he wanted was to make their current king mad.

“I am sorry, my king,” he said as he bowed down to show how sincere he was with the apology but this only made Aiden sneer at his tactics.

“It is okay. I understand since you feel that since you are an elder, there is no reason for you to be so respectful to me, am I right?” Aiden said in a mocking voice making the old man frown but he did not dare speak.

“If you have nothing better to do or say you better leave,” Aiden said coldly.

“I am sorry my king. Yesterday after having supper, my daughter said that she went to visit her friend but she has not yet returned thus I am worried,” Simon said.

“Since you knew that she went to her friend’s house, what does it have to do with me? As a father, you should know your children’s friends thus just go over there and get your daughter! Don’t come here for such stupid things. I am not her father so I should go and get her,” Aiden said coldly.

Simon was hesitant since only he knew what he couldn’t say thus he was worried when his daughter didn’t return home and was supposed to return early in the morning but at the same time wondered whether she had changed the plans. Even though he wanted to believe that she was still there, Aiden's presence down there meant another thing.

“My King. Madeline said that she was visiting Aurora,” he said shocking everyone since they felt that was so absurd.

“Since when did my daughter have a good relationship with your daughter and I wasn’t told anything?” the old king asked as he descended.

Simon cussed inside but he still managed to remain calm.

“Your majesty. I don’t know but that is what she told me,” he said.

“Maybe we can look for her in the palace and see whether she is really here,” the old king said, making Simon smirk secretly since he wondered what they would all say when they found out about his daughter’s relationship with the king.

After some minutes of searching, the guards who were sent returned.

“My king. Your majesty. We haven’t seen her here. We have searched everywhere but there is no trace of her,'' one of the guards said with his head lowered.

“That…that is impossible! She should be her! Have you checked all the rooms?” Simon asked anxiously.

“Yes, we have,” another guard said.

“Are you sure? Have you checked all the floors? Even the king's floor?” he asked.

“What are you trying to say, Simon? What would your daughter do on that floor and it is forbidden to enter?” the old king said.

“My King, Your Majesty. All the elders are waiting at the entrance.”
