Chapter 54: Chapter 54

Third POV.

“No? You are more shameless than I thought. Do you think that could be mated with such a person? If I am not mistaken, you were trying to sabotage my relationship with my mate just to separate us. Am I right?” Aiden asked calmly but his eyes had a murderous glint.

Hearing this, Jordan’s eyes turned cold. He only knew that Madeline had sneaked in and that was the reason he had come but he had not thought the reason behind it. They all knew how obsessed Madeline was with the queen’s title but he had not expected it to be this much.

At first, they had all thought that that was her father’s idea after he tasted the wealth and power thus they pitied her and treated her well but after some time, they started seeing her true colors and got to understand her.

“No, I wasn’t here for that,” Madeline quickly denied it.

“Then what were you here for?” Jordan asked coldly.

Madeline gritted her teeth as she clenched her fists after hearing the question. She couldn’t understand what she had ever done to deserve such treatment from Jordan since she could remember.

“I…I…I…”

“Stop wasting our time. It is clear that even you can’t find a good excuse after being caught. It is the high time you spend a couple of nights in the dungeons. Oh, the most terrifying, darkest and dirtiest dungeon. If there is a presence of rats or mice the better. Jordan, don’t forget to record the scene where she screams and cries for help when the rats get close to her,” Aurora said, making Jordan smile brightly at her.

“Of course, princess,” he said with a bow making Aurora glare at him since she hated it when they did that. To her, he was also her big brother so how could she let him always bow to her?

“I warned you about that but you never listen. Maybe you should also accompany her,” Aurora said with a glare.

Jordan returned the glare before saying, “I am sorry my princess please forgive me.”

Aurora was satisfied by the apology but she still couldn’t help herself from giving him another glare.

Looking at Aurora commanding what people should do around her, Aiden smiled a little bit since he was reminded of when they were kids. Sensing her brother’s gaze, Aurora turned to look at him and gave him the brightest smile.

“Brother, do you think the punishment I gave was not severe enough?” she asked.

“What do you think?” Aiden asked her softly as he raised his eyebrows.

“Well, to me, I think it isn’t severe enough. She should be punished for what she did. If I continue to be so kind and generous. Always pitying even those who hurt me, people will continue doing whatever they like here and never take me seriously. It is the high time I became cold and indifferent to their feelings,” Aurora said seriously.

Hearing her words, both Jordan’s and Aiden’s smile vanished completely as they wondered what had happened to her to make her make such a decision. They had tried changing her but she always refused since she was one of the rare people who believed the good in everyone.

“What makes you say that? You never liked that no matter how much we tried to make you,” Jordan couldn’t help but ask.

“It is because some people can never change their bad habits. Even a rotten egg can never change and become fresh. When it is rotten, we have to throw it away,” she said calmly.

The truth, after learning what dangers were ahead and witnessing what people could do just to get a lot of power, she was frightened to the core and was afraid that people might use her fragile and good heart to destroy their kingdom.

They were all smiling since it seemed that she had become more mature and wise within hours.

“According to the rules. Anyone who sneaks to this floor must be given fifty whips and also, it states that anyone from outside who sneaks into the palace even after being invited or has a valid reason, he or she should be locked up in the dungeon for a week and given only one meal per day,” Jordan stated.

“Good. Good. That’s why I love you Jordan! Do follow my instructions and then and those which are on the rules,” Aurora said while smiling.

“You can’t do that! I am not an outsider,” Madeline shouted.

“Not an outsider? Then, do your parents live in the palace? No! Do you have valid access to always come here anytime you want? No! To make matters worse, you don’t have a valid reason as to why you were sneaking in at night. Double the punishment,” Aiden spoke.

Madeline’s eyes were full of hatred as she looked at Aurora. To her, she was being punished this much because of her. She vowed that she would make her pay and regret everything wrong she ever did to her.

Looking around and seeing there were no guards around even after they had been called out by Aiden, a glint flashed in Madeline’s eyes after an idea popped up.

Although she was surrounded by them, there were spaces in between making it possible for her to escape.

Without thinking twice, she ran ready to pass through Elana and Marcus but unfortunately, their actions were faster than hers. They held her making it impossible for her to escape from their grips

“Let me go,” she said as she struggled to free herself.

“You bastards, I said, let me go! You are just some worthless…”

Before she could even finish her sentence, she felt a hot slap on her face but she yelled in pain.

“If you dare cuss at them once more, I will forget my manners and kill you,” Aiden said with a murderous aura.

“Take her away.”

After Jordan left while dragging Madeline who was calling. Aurora noticed Leila and glared at her.

“Leila, are you okay?”
