Chapter 33: Chapter 33

Third POV.

Elana looked at her sister upon hearing her words. She tried to figure out what Leila wanted to tell her or why she looked how she was but she couldn't make her feel as if her baby sister had grown up to be a grown-up.

"What's up?" she asked for some time after waiting for Leila who had her head lowered to talk but all she got was silence.

"I am so sorry," Leila said as tears rolled down her cheek.

Seeing this, Elana was heartbroken and hurriedly wiped off the tears since she couldn't tolerate it.

"Why are you saying sorry? Why are you even crying?" Elana asked as she lifted her sister's chin.

Leila felt worse and even more guilty as she saw the caring look on Elana's face.

Leila sniffed as she wiped her face then breathed in and out loudly before talking, "I have always been jealous of you."

Hearing this, Elana maintains her previous calm look not showing any new or unusual expression making Leila bite her lower lip. Seeing that Elana's eyes were still on her, she lowered her head and started playing with her fingers.

"You know, you enjoyed mom's and dad's love. You can remember how dad looked while I can't. I can't remember anything about him. I have a clue on his appearance, and his character from what you and Mommy always told me. Apart from that, you got your wolf on your sixteenth birthday unlike me who has always been labeled as a wolfless she-wolf and a cursed little wolf since Mom died on that day."

When I thought everything was over and expected that I would get a mate who loves me more than anything in this world, to protect me from all the bullying and harassment, I got the most ridiculous joke in my life, the person who bullied me the most turned out to be my mate. He was disgusted with me and rejected me.``

"You have always had a smooth life. Even now, the rogues and other shits are after me. When I just thought that I have now got my wolf and have a second mate, I later found out the rogues were always after me, I was the main reason mom died," Leila said as she found herself crying as she recalled that her mother sacrificed her life for her to continue living.

"Don't say that. It was her time to go where she belongs," Elana said as she tried to comfort Leila.

"I know but I wanted her to always be with me! To always cook for us, tell us stories, to teach me how to fight. To comb and braid my hair. I wanted her to always be here with me. Nothing will ever change the fact that she died to save me but it was all in vain since the rogues are still after me! I am still in danger, I won't have a comfortable life so soon. I have always been jealous of you because of all that," Leila said as she lowered her head to avoid Elana's gaze.

She didn't want to see her sister's disappointed eyes.

"Where are you lowering your head and avoiding looking at me?" Elana asked in a displeased tone.

"How can I look at you just to see your disappointed look? I am sorry for being such a disappointment, Elana," Leila said as she cried.

Knowing there was no other way to make Leila not feel guilty and that she was a disappointment, Elana moved forward and embraced her younger sister.

In the embrace, Leila couldn't help herself to stay calm and she found herself crying out loudly. Elana sighed deeply as she patted Leila's back to make her feel more comfortable and relaxed.

After a few minutes of crying out loudly, Leila stopped crying out loudly and got hiccups out of crying out for a loud time.

Seeing that she was better than before, Elana still didn't let go of her but played with Leila's hair.

"Am I mad at you because you were jealous of me? That's no baby girl. Mom once said that if you ever get jealous of me for what I have or cause we both have different ways or reasons to live, I should know that I haven't been a good sister," Elana said with a bitter smile on her face cause she couldn't believe that what her mother said was true.

"You know, at that time, I was just fifteen and I couldn't understand why she told me that. I just replied to her by saying that that will never happen because we are sisters from the same parents and the only grandchildren to the moon goddess and there was no way she could let one of us have a better life than the other," Elana said with a laugh, making Leila smile.

"When mom died, to me, we lost the most important person in our lives. I was so mad when I remembered that Mom was no longer with us and Dad left us. I wanted to go and kill him too after all, didn't everyone call us orphans when we aren't? I could kill him so that we can be orphans for real. I am really sorry that I was blinded by my anger that I didn't give you the attention you needed when you needed me the most," Elana said as tears escaped from her eyes.

"So no, I am not disappointed in you that you were always jealous of me neither am I jealous of you 'cause you are stronger than I," Elana said.

“You were right about one thing you told Mom,” Leila said as she got from her sister’s embrace and looked at her

“And what’s that?” Elana said as she sniffed.

“That, we are the descendants of the moon goddess. Her only grandchildren in fact,” Leila said as she wiped her sister's tears with the back of her palm. “There was no way she could let one of us have better things than the other. After all, didn’t she give us equal strength?”

They looked at each other before laughing out loudly but they were interrupted by a knock on the door.
