Chapter 9: Chapter 9

I caught a deer and tear its head away from the neck. I drank from it with pleasure. Satisfied with the blood I've taken, I head back to the palace. Mom was already waiting by the gate, which is kinda surprising. Not so surprising though. I walked closer to her. "Mom?"

"Follow me" she ordered and began to walk away. I rolled my eyes and trailed behind her. We got to her room and she walked in. I entered and look around for a couch to seat. I sighted a new couch which looked attractive and made to sit down. "Don't even dare to sit down"

I groaned. "Mom, I don't think whatever you want to say prevents me from sitting down?". She glared at me and I chuckled. I moved away from the couch, raised my hand in surrender, and at the same time, rested my back and right leg on the wall. "Ok, I quit"

"Why did you...." She started but stopped when we heard a thud. I rolled my eyes, hope she doesn't want to talk about my pet cause for some reason I have this feeling that might be her purpose of calling me here. She stared at me and then at the door.

I sighed. "I'll go check what's going on" I turned towards the direction of the door

"Don't you dare take a step"

I groaned and then turned in her direction. "I'm only trying to find out what's wrong"

"And then run away from my question in the process?"

"I never said I was running away"

"I know you too well, Damien. I'm your mother". I sighed but said nothing. "Back to my question, why did you kill a guard at Island pack?"

I heaved a sigh of relief. "Oh, that?. He...."

"Disrespected you?" She asked, furrowing her brows.

I groaned. "I never said that"

"Then why did you?". I tapped my finger on the wall, getting bored with the conversation. "Answer me". I groaned. I can't tell her I did that because he was the one who took my pet to the elders and made her end up in the sacred room. What will I say now? "Damien!!"

I grunted. "Maybe I just want to"

She gasped and widen her eyes in the process. "Are you kidding me? Damien?"

I shrugged. "I don't have any other reason to give"

She hissed loudly. "Damien, your insolent attitude is becoming too much!!"

I rolled my eyes. "I didn't do anything wrong"

She furrowed her brows. "You didn't?. Killing someone is now a normal thing to you?"

I batted my lashes. "You know I don't kill without a reason"

"You kill for useless reasons, Damien!"

I groaned. I dislike the fact that she's yelling at me. "Mother...."

"Don't call me. Now listen to me carefully. You're to go back to the packhouse and apologize to them"

I narrowed my eyes. Is she for real?. There's no way I, Damien will do that!!. Never!!. "I won't do that"

"It isn't yours to decide"

I rolled my eyes. "Mo....". She glared at me and I kept shut. There was silence as I stared into space. I dropped down my leg and stood upright. "I'll head back to my room then".

She said nothing, so I left.

I find it difficult to apologize to people but I have no choice. I had to do it for my mother. Thanks to Lord Raymond, the apology wasn't public. He stood in the gap for the rest. I walked to the door. "Thanks for accepting my apology, Lord Raymond"

He smiled. "It's a rare privilege to see you do that. I'm honored"

I rolled my eyes. "I should get going"

"I'll see you off". He walked me to where my cars were parked. "Thanks for coming Damien". I nodded. "Please, don't forget about the meeting. We will love to have you in our midst"

I scoffed. "In your midst indeed" I murmured. He doesn't have to pretend they like me when it's obvious they don't!. "I'll try my best to attend"

"We will appreciate that". I rolled my eyes and entered the car. "Bye," he waved at me. I drove out and headed back to the vampires' territory. As I drove into our territory, I sighed. I sometimes wondered how mom was able to retain our territory from other vampires. Even from werewolves, despite being a woman who was once despised by her people.

I decided to take a drive around the territory to see what new things had been done. I got to the new industry mom said she was building. It was looking magnificent. I went to other places before heading back to the palace. I couldn't help but think how great a woman, my mom is. Looking at the technology in the world today, I mean schools, industries, Companies, machines, instruments, equipment, and so on, created by humans, which mom has been able to bring into our territory. I must say, she's a woman of virtue.

I parked my car and stepped out. Four guards were on watch. "Welcome back, my lord" they greeted in unison, bowing

I rolled my eyes. "Have you seen Gary?"

"Yes, my lord. He's in the garden" Blair, one of them answered

"Get him for me. Tell him to meet me in my room"

He bowed. "Yes, my lord"

I got to my room and sat down on the bed. My mind drifted to Elmira, it's like a day now since I made Martins flog her. I haven't seen her any hear about her. Neither have I seen Amaya too. I stood up and decided to go check on Amaya. I saw a guard walking through the hallway leading to my mother's room. He bowed. "My lord"

"Have you seen, Amaya?"

He furrowed his brows. "I'm so sorry my lord. I'm new here. I know no one with such name"

I groaned. His face isn't familiar and he doesn't smell human. "You ain't human? or are you?"

He shook his head negatively. "No, my lord. I'm a vampire"

I rolled my eyes. No wonder he doesn't know her. "Go" I ordered. I watched him leave. I need to ask mom about him. I turned in the direction of my room. I have changed my mind about going to look for Amaya and have decided to return to my room.

I was to visit the Island pack today for another round of fruitless meetings. Yes!, I said fruitless cause I know they won't amount to anything, not with the fact that they don't want me as their Alpha. It isn't like I want them either. Mom won't just let me be. All she wants is for me to take what rightfully belongs to me. But I, on the other hand, don't want it. But my mom won't take no for an answer.

I got dressed in black jean trousers and a white shirt. Combed my hair into a man's bun and walked out of my room. Gary was already waiting by the door. "Good morning, my lord" he greeted

I looked around and saw nobody. "Are the cars ready?"

"Yes, my lord"

"Let's go"

As we walked past the hallway, leading outside the palace, I caught sight of my pet. It's been a while I saw her. I stopped walking. She was coming towards my direction, head's down. She was also without her veil and I wondered why?. She was so lost in adjusting her dress that she never knew when she got closer to me. But just as she raised her head to see me, she turned swiftly and took to her heels before I could say a word.
