Chapter 35: Chapter 35

I took Maya out and we had great fun. She was already feeling sleepy when we got back and I had to carry her to her room. I met with Elmira In the aisle but she ignored me. I noticed her eyes were puffy. I wanted to ask her what was wrong. Like I cared so much to that extend to want to ask but I decided against it. I should give her the privacy she wants. The rest of the day ended with me turning around on the bed. I was restless all through the night. It isn't like I sleep though. I was happy when I saw the ray of light, shining in, through the window. I jumped up from the bed. Time to go to work and have some fun!!. I rushed to the bathroom to take my bath and then got dressed in black trousers and a denim jacket. I walked out of the room. I went to Maya's room to check if she was ready for school. Yesterday, I'd promised to take her to school today. She was already dressed and was eating when I came in.  She chuckled. "I thought you wouldn't come"

I walked up to her and pecked her forehead. "Good morning"

She chuckled. "Sorry. Good morning". I rolled my eyes. "I'm so happy to see you that I forget to say my greeting first"

I rolled my eyes. "I understand. Now eat fast so I can drop you off"

She nodded. I sat down on the couch to wait for her. "And how was your first night of loneliness?"

I rolled my eyes. "Weren't you taught about table manners?"

She chuckled. "You're trying to avoid my question. I understand". I only rolled my eyes. After a while, she announced she was done and we headed downstairs?. "What about Elmira?. Ain't you suppose to drop her off too?"

"Privacy" I cooed

She hissed. "Whatever" she mumbled. The drive to her school was tiring as she kept asking questions relating to me and Elmira. At some point, I had to shut her up. She was angry and when I finally brought the car to a halt, she stomped out of it without her usual goodbye. I chuckled. "Bye, Maya". She ignored me. "Love you!!" I yelled. I knew she heard me but doesn't want to answer me. I smiled and watch her enter the building before driving off.

As I drive back to my office, I couldn't stop thinking about Elmira. That face I saw yesterday, and a few teardrops kept me worried. Did she cry?. Why?. Those were the questions in my heart all through the night. My mind was off it this morning but hearing Maya talk about her in the car, triggered up my worries. I stopped the car in front of her school and stepped out. As usual, students especially girls were drooling and ogling. I ignored their stares and went in. Some bowed to me while I passed, while others who were still afraid Of me, ran away. I went straight to Elmira's class. She was in the class but her head was on the desk. Everyone scurried out of the class when I walked in. "Elmira?" I cooed

She raised her head slowly from the table and gasped when she saw me. "Wh... What are you doing here?"

I rolled my eyes. "To see you"

She hissed. "You should leave, my lecture starts soon". I ignored her and sat on the desk. "Hey!!. You should leave" she yelled

I rolled my eyes. "Why were you crying yesterday?"

She hissed. "I wasn't crying"

I hissed. Why does she like to hide her feelings, her pain?. She pretends a lot. "I saw you"

"I wasn't crying, ok?"

"I saw..."

"Stop acting like you care,  ok?!!" She yelled

I hissed. As usual, running away from talking. "Chill, you shouldn't be yelling. It's a school environment, remember?"

She hissed. "Just leave, ok?"

"Why do you like to run away from your problems?". She glared at me. I sighed and stood up. "Ok, I'll leave. Do take care of yourself. But just in case you need to talk". I smirked. "And just in case you need someone to talk to, you know where to find me". I winked at her and she groaned. Having succeeded in making her talk and annoying her in the process, I left the school, feeling happy and satisfied. I drove back to the office and focused all my attention on my work. After work can come pleasure.

When mom found out about me leaving the room, she wasn't bothered. Instead, she asked me to teach Elmira how to fight, so she would defend herself when the time comes. At first, I said no to the request. The reason I left the room for her was to stop seeing her. I won't have to put up with her attitude. Accepting to teach her means seeing her face always and having to put up with her silent attitude. Mom wouldn't let me rest, so I accepted but on a condition. I'll teach her three times a week. Excluding Mondays. Mom accepted my condition without any form of argument. I know to her, for as long I get to see her face three times a week, the love can still grow.

Taking her fighting lesson was difficult than I thought. She gets angry at simple things. She gets angry at everything!!. You tell her to attack, she complains. You tell her to defend, she makes an excuse. She keeps classes too. So many times, I was told by the guards that she does leave the territory. I had tried to let mom know I can't do it, but she wouldn't take no for an answer. Maya told me, Elmira is good at using swords but I just don't get why she has decided to trouble me.

Yesterday, mom asked me to stop the training but today, Elmira asked me to teach. I was kinda surprised. Right now, we are about to practice. Maya was seated while I stood right opposite Elmira. "Take a position, Elmira" I commanded. She took the position she felt was comfortable for her. Maya chuckled and I rolled my eyes. It seems she's in a very good mood, today. Or maybe she's tired of troubling me. "Now, at the count of three, you attack". She nodded. "1... 2... 3... Attack"

She attacked so perfectly while I defend. Clashing of swords could be heard. After a while, we stopped. I nodded. "Nice try". She rolled her eyes but said nothing. We clashed our swords again. I noticed she was extremely strong and her movement was strange too, but I decided to ignore them. We were still in the middle of the fight when she suddenly stopped moving and then slumped to the ground. "Elmira!!" Maya and I cooed in unison.

It's been an hour since we brought Elmira to the healer. We haven't heard any news yet and I'm beginning to feel frustrated. Mom came and started blaming me. How she got to know was still a surprise for me. I punched the wall so many times as I could feel her faint heartbeat. The healer walked out and we rushed to her. "Any news?" I asked

"She's stable now but hasn't opened her eyes yet"

I hissed. "What's wrong with her?"

"I haven't diagnosed anything yet but I've taken her blood. I'll run some taste on it"

I groaned. "How long will it take?"

"Two hours at most"

I hissed. "You mean, we will have to wait for two hours?"

Mom chuckled. "Come on, two hours isn't much"

I groaned. I noticed mom was happy but I don't know why. She followed the healer, leaving me with Maya. We were still waiting for the result when Arden walked to us. I hissed. "Who let you in here?". He laughed and I groaned. Not again. "Answer me!!. What the hell are you doing here?"

"To take what belongs to me"

I hissed. "You have nothing here!!"

He laughed. "I have a mate and a baby"

I furrowed my brows. "What are you talking about?"

He laughed. "She didn't tell you?. That's pregnant for me?"

I hissed. What's he talking about?. "Is Elmira pregnant?" Maya whispered

I sighed. "Maya, go in". She nodded and left. "What were you saying again?". I clenched my fist.

He laughed. "I'm here to take what...". I didn't let him finish his sentence before I landed him a punch, which sent him flying. I hissed. I hate nonsense!!.
