Chapter 28: Chapter 28
The drive back to the Island pack was awkward. I kept feeling dizzy and tired. When I finally drove in and halted in front of the packhouse, I breathed a sigh of relief. Mom was already waiting for me at the door of the packhouse. As I stepped out of the car, she rushed to me. "Did you see her?. Is she safe?". I nodded. She stared into the car. "Why are her eyes closed. Why isn't she moving"
I rolled my eyes. "She's fine, mother. She only passed out"
She started at me suspiciously. "Are you sure?"
I groaned. Right now, I'm not in the mood for these cheap talks. My head still aches from the bite and I felt like I might pass out any moment from now. "You can touch her, mother. She's alive". She chuckled. "Can you ask the guards to bring her out of the car?"
She furrowed her brows. "Why can't you do that yourself?"
I sighed. I can't let mom know I marked her. I can't let her know I have finally drunk from her and couldn't control myself. "Please, mom"
She rolled her eyes. "You've never said please before, Damien. Is something wrong?"
I groaned. "Nothing mom. I just feel so tired"
"Tired?". She walked closer to me. "That's strange"
Before she could touch me, I moved away. "I'll be in my room"
"Damien" she called but I was too tired to want to stay back and listen to her talks. I went straight to my room and lay on the bed. My eyelids were already heavy and I was finding it difficult to keep them open. I kept closing and opening my eyes until I must have finally drifted to sleep.
**
I woke up with a thud. Someone jumped on me, jerking me back to life. I groaned. "Maya!!"
She chuckled. "Hey, I thought you would never wake up forever"
I furrowed my brows. "What are you talking about?"
"You've been off for two days!!"
Two days?. That can't be. I sat up quickly and narrowed my eyes. "Are you serious?"
She nodded. "Elmira was so scared. She thought her blood wasn't good for you"
I batted my lashes. "She told you?"
"Not really. I saw the bite"
I groaned. "I know you will see me like a beast"
She chuckled. "No. I see it as a sign of taking what belongs to you"
I rolled my eyes. "Does the Queen knows about it?"
She furrowed her brows. "That you've marked her?. Yes. That you're awake?. No. That..."
"Hey, that's enough. You've answered my question already"
She chuckled and hugged me. "I've missed you"
"I've missed you too. Now leave and let me take my bath" I sniffed myself. "I smell like rotten fruits"
She chuckled and released me. "I wanted to tell you that"
I furrowed my brows. "What?!!". She jumped out of the bed and ran out before I could get her. I groaned. "Pervert!!"
I stood up and went into the bathroom to take a cold and long shower. I couldn't stop scrubbing myself until I felt I wasn't stinking. Just two days and I'm already stinking like rotten fruits. I chuckled and stepped out of the bathroom. I got dressed in simple shorts and a shirt. I still feel a bit tired and don't feel like going out either. I walked out of my closet, humming a song. I saw the shadow of someone. From the shadow, I knew the person was at my back and wanted to turn but bumped into her. "Holly molly!!' I almost yelled. Elmira moved backward and I groaned. "Why are you moving about like that in my room" I wanted to yell at her but it came out more like a whisper.
I hissed. I can't even get angry with her. "I... I... I'm so sorry. The queen asked me to bring your food"
I rolled my eyes. Isn't she supposed to be angry that I marked her against her will?. ". I sighed. "Thanks, you can leave it over there"
She batted her lashes. "You said?"
I groaned. "Is it the thanks you don't understand or the leave it over there?"
"Sorry" she moved away from me and dropped the tray on the table. I sat on the couch, stirring at her. I began to have a strange feeling again. My urge to drink from her was becoming stronger and I couldn't withhold myself. My fangs were coming out and I could tell I wanted to drink from her. I groaned. I need to learn to control my thirst. I need to!!. She moved close to me. "Are... Are you ok?"
I groaned. "Go!!". She made to touch me but I pushed her away and she fell to the ground. "Go!!. Get out!!!. Now!!". She stood up and ran out of the room. I groaned. It took a while before I could put myself together again. I stood up and brushed my hair backward, frustrated. "Ahh!!!" I screamed, scattering everything in front of me. I need to learn how to control my thirst or I might end up hurting her.
**
Mom came to check on me, even after giving an order not to let anybody in. I was painting when she walked in. "Still angry?"
I batted my lashes. "For what?"
She walked closer to me and pulled one of the stools. She sat down. "When I first taste human blood. I couldn't control myself and attacked every human I see. But with time, I got healed and now, I can stay with humans without fear of hurting them"
I groaned. "That isn't the problem, mother. I don't get attracted to others except for Elmira. I don't have the urge to drink blood, except when Elmira is present. I'm afraid I might end up killing her"
She chuckled. "Come on, you will get over it. Just drink from her often"
I hissed. Is she been serious right now?. "I can't do that"
"Why?. You've marked her already. Whatever pain you feel she feels. What..."
"We ain't mated yet. She can't feel my pain"
Mom chuckled. "It's a matter of time. Let's say in a few days. The full moon is closed. For every werewolf, it's a mating time. You won't be able to resist it. Not with the fact that you've marked her"
I batted my lashes, remembering what Arden had said. 'Let's see how long you can resist her'. Was he talking about mating with her or drinking from her?. I groaned and pushed down the board. "Shit!!" I cursed
"Easy, boy. Easy"
"Is there a way of unmarking her?"
She furrowed her brows. "Are you been serious right now?"
I groaned. "I need to know"
She sighed. "You can only reject her, now that you haven't mated but that will cause a lot of pain to you both. But remember, she's human. She might not survive it. But if you guys are mated and you reject her or she rejects you, she will die and you'll lose your wolf and..."
I stood up and punched the wall. Arden pushed me into marking her so I won't have a choice!!. I turned to face mom. "I'm a hybrid. I don't have a wolf right?"
"You do. You're more of a werewolf than a vampire"
"Why haven't I shifted into one?"
She sighed. "Because your dad locked your wolf up when we had to run away". I punched the wall again. Mom stood up. You have to stop hurting yourself, Damien"
"As a hybrid, what happens if I reject her?"
She sighed. " I don't know, Damien. I haven't seen one before". I made to punch the wall again but she stopped me. "Damien, you can't reject her and you won't be able to resist her for long also. You have to drink from her again"
I shook my head. "I can't"
"You have to. You have to learn how to control yourself through her"
I sighed. "Mom?"
"You can". I groaned but said nothing. "I'll ask her to come"
I nodded and sat down. Mom left and Elmira walked in. She looked so scared. For the first time, I felt pity for her. She walked closer to me and sat down. "You... You... You can drink from me"
I stared at her for a while. My fangs were coming out again and my eyes were changing. I turned. "You should leave, Elmira"
"No, I promised the Queen and Maya to help you heal up and control your thirst". She pushed her hair sideways. "You should drink"
I moved closer to her, closed my eyes, and finally deep my fangs into her skin. She whined a little. I kept drinking from her until I could feel tears dripping down her face. I pulled away from her. "I'm so sorry, Elmira" I cooed and finally pulled her into a hug.
