Chapter 97: Chapter 97

Yool returned to his apartment to retrieve his diaries...

... only to find out that his entire place had been thrashed.

He immediately ran to his room and found out the extent of the "damage."

"Fucking hell," Yool cursed under his breath. "My things are gone."

Yep, his apartment was robbed.

Worse, the vault where he kept his diaries was gone.

[I hope to god the thieves failed to open the vault. If they do and they get the chance to read my diaries, they’ll find out the truth or this world. That or they’ll think I’ve lost my mind.]

"Are there important items that were stolen?"

Yool turned to Song Moonho and nodded. "I don’t care about the other items that were stolen, but we have to find my vault. That’s our key to finding out the mastermind behind the recent incidents related to the appearances of unusual Cracks."

"I’ll have my people check on the CCTVs installed in this building," Song Moonho said while his hand was busy typing on his phone. "You can’t stay in your apartment in this situation. Would you like me to drive you to Chu Wonhee’s house?"

"Nah, I don’t want Wony to get stressed out with me. You can just drop me off at a motel."

"Are you seducing me?"

"You’re asking me to come to a motel with you, aren’t you?"

"Ahjussi, did you forget to take your anti-delulu pills?" New ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄhapters are published on NoveIꜰire.net

Song Moonho tilted his head to one side. "’Anti-delulu pills?’ What is that?"

"Of course, an old man like you wouldn’t get it."

Song Moonho smiled charmingly. "Am I really that too old... for you?"

Song Moonho was annoying, but his face card never declined.

[There’s a reason why he’s Korea’s most handsome Hunter even though there are younger Hunters like Hwang Frost and Lee Seodam known for their visuals.]

Yool almost thought Song Moonho was flirting with him. "I can just take a cab, you know?"

Song Moonho laughed while shaking his head. "No, I’ll book you a suite at my hotel."

[Song Moonho is now known as the ’Hotel King’ since he’s the president of Miran Hotels & Resorts– the hospitality arm of Miran Group that he took over.]

But, unlike Jang Semi who was a chaebol when she awakened, Song Moonho only reached the chaebol level a few years later after he awakened. The old man was already a part of the upper middle class before the Outbreak, but now he was rich RICH.

[And he became that rich through questionable means...]

"Why are you looking at me like that, Yool-ssi?"

"Ahjussi, what’s your goal?"

"What do you mean by that?"

"I’ve always thought you were the rotten apple among the Big 4 members because of all the illegal activities that you’ve been involved with in the past," Yool said bluntly. "But for someone who commits crimes left and right, you’re less evil than what I imagine. Though I haven’t forgotten that you’ve almost killed me and tried to hurt Wony."

"Yool-ssi, I’m a shy person," Song Moonho said, obviously spouting bullshit. "But maybe I’ll open up to you once we get a little bit closer?"

What a cunning old man.

"Find the robbers and bring me back my stolen vault," Yool said, shrugging. "Maybe I’ll open up to you if you do me a big favor, Ahjussi."

"SO, THAT was why I ended up staying at Miran Hotel last night."

Wonhee was a bit horrified after hearing Yool’s story. "Yool-ah, you should have just checked in at my hotel. The General Manager of Sarang-hee Hotel has been notified that you and Ahyeonnie can stay in any room for free– anytime. You just have to show them your ID."

"Well, that crossed my mind," Yool said, shrugging. "But I know the hotel will notify you if I show up there. I didn’t want to make you worry, so I just accepted the old man’s offer."

"Did Song Moonho-ssi leave you alone after you checked in at his hotel?"

"Fortunately, he did leave after that."

Wonhee let out a sigh of relief. "What else was stolen from you, Yool-ah?"

"My collection of Maru’s photo cards and albums."

Wonhee and Ahyeon both gasped out loud and reacted at the same time. "Not your collection of Maru the Man’s merch!"

"T-That’s horrible, Hyung," Ahyeon added. "You have all of Maru’s rare photo cards..."

Yool let out a frustrated sigh. "I know, right? Once we catch the thief, they’re dead."

"We should check if there’s someone selling Maru’s rare photocards in the community," Wonhee said. "Maru isn’t that well-known here in Korea, but he has a huge international fanbase. His rare photo cards sell for hundreds of dollars."

"To be honest, I’d rather lose the rare photocards than my diaries," Yool said worriedly. "I wrote down all the things I remember in this world in my diaries. If it falls into the wrong hands, we’re dead."

Wonhee wanted to ask Yool if she could ask her older siblings to help find the burglars, but she got distracted when she heard a knock on the door of her bedroom.

And then Yejun entered.

"Wonhee-ya, your stylist and manager are here..." Yejun trailed off, and then he blinked rapidly. "Oh. You dyed your hair black?"

That was why Yool and Ahyeon were there– the two helped her dye her hair.

"We just used a hair color spray to dye my hair temporarily," Wonhee explained while touching the strands of her now black hair. "Since there would be important guests in the press conference, I thought I would look more professional with my natural hair color."

She loved her dyed hair, but her bright orange hair was a little...

"I love jajangmyeon," Yejun said while looking at Wonhee’s hair. "You still look delicous to me even with your black hair, Wonhee-ya."

’Jajangmyeon’ was noodles with black bean sauce.

[Commonly known as ’black noodles.’]

And Wonhee’s hair color at the moment was black.

Wonhee frowned. "Yejun-ah, why do you always associate my hair color with your favorite food?"

Yejun’s face beamed. "Because you’re my favorite person, Wonhee-ya."

That may or may have not made Wonhee blush.

"Stop being so cringey, Hwang Frost," Yool scolded Yejun fearlessly. "Come with us. Ahyeonnie and I will help you choose your outfit for the press conference. Yeon Soobin-ssi sent clothes for you. He said you need to dress well for today."

Yejun tilted his head to one side. "I’d look good even if you give me the ugliest outfit there, so I don’t see the need to prepare this early. I want to stay here and stare at Wonhee’s face a little longer."

Nobody could refute Yejun’s arrogant words because they were true.

[That handsome face would carry any outfit...]

"Hwang Frost, I heard Lee Seodam will be at the press conference as one of APA’s representatives," Yool said out of nowhere. "Lee Seodam may not be as handsome as you are, but Lee Seodam is known for being stylish. Do you want to look like a fashion terrorist next to Wony’s ex-boyfriend?"

"Nah, I’d hate that," Yejun said, frowning. Then he grabbed Yool and Ahyeon, surprising the two. "See you later, Wonhee-ya. I’ll make you swoon– so look forward to it."

And, just like that, Yejun disappeared with her friends.

Wonhee grumbled under her breath. "Is Yejun planning to kill me by giving me a visual shock?"

"WONY-AH, you look great!"

"You are truly my life’s masterpiece, Wony-ah."

Wonhee blushed while being praised by Billie (her manager) and Momo (her stylist).

Her manager unnie brought her the clothes that Diana– a French luxury fashion house that Wonhee was working for as its Global Ambassador– sent her for the press conference.

On the other hand, Momo went to her penthouse for her hair and make-up.

[I could have gone to Momo Unnie’s salon, but my older siblings are being overprotective again so they asked their people to bring my stylist here.]

"Thank you," Wonhee said shyly. "Black isn’t my color, so I’m kind of worried."

APA asked her to wear black for the press conference.

Fortunately, Diana had the perfect fit for her: a check-pattern black tie-neck tweed cropped jacket, tweed wide pants, and a pair of ankle-strap platform pumps in leather.

Momo just tied Wonhee’s hair into a sleek low ponytail.

Since it was a formal event, Wonhee asked her stylist unnie to keep her makeup simple.

"Wony-ah, you look good in any color," Billie said encouragingly. "And we brought other clothes for you to change into after the press conference, so don’t be too sad."

Billie and Momo gave her a final touch-up before they left the bedroom since the two still needed to bring their stuff to the luxurious car that Wonhee’s agency sent for her to use.

The press conference would be held at the presidential Blue House, after all.

"Wonhee-ya, look at me."

Wonhee turned around when she heard Yejun’s voice from behind her...

... and then her brain buffered for a moment.

Wonhee just got a visual shock upon seeing Yejun.

[I already know that he’s handsome, but this...]

Yejun wore a black double-breasted wool jacket with matching wool pants, and a pair of black elegant leather Chelsea boots. The wool jacket was tucked inside his wool pants, showing off the chic belt that completed his outfit.

He looked so stylish at the moment.

But something else caught Wonhee’s attention.

[Yejun’s neck looks so smooth...]

Since Yejun was always wearing a black turtleneck shirt, this was the first time Wonhee saw his neck properly.

And it also didn’t look like he was wearing a shirt under his wool jacket.

Hence, Yejun’s collarbones were slightly exposed.

Wonhee gulped nervously.

[Since when did I have a thing for collarbones...?]

"I told you, didn’t I?"

Wonhee raised her head and met Yejun’s heated gaze. "Told me what?"

"That I’ll make you swoon with my face and body," Yejun said smugly. "Physical attraction serves as the initial spark that draws people closer. So, Wonhee-ya, are you finally catching feelings for me?"

She knew that she had been physically attracted to Yejun since the day they met, but she thought it was natural to feel that way because he was handsome.

But it wasn’t like Wonhee wanted to kiss every handsome guy she met...

[I want to kiss Yejun...?]

Wonhee’s gaze fell on Yejun’s lips.

"Do you want to "Guide" me before we head to the press conference, Wonhee-ya?"

Wonhee raised her head and, this time, she saw the glint of mischievousness in Yejun’s slightly dark eyes. "Well, your eyes look a little reddish than normal..."

She was aware that it sounded like a lame excuse for "Guiding."

And the X-Class Hunter knew that very well.

Yejun smiled teasingly. "Only if you give me the honor of shoving my tongue down your throat, Chu Wonhee."

"You and your dirty mouth, really..."

[I want them, though.]
