Chapter 92: Chapter 92

Wonhee was reminded that she was a celebrity when she saw her huge portrait hanging on the wall of Golden Era Entertainment’s building.

That photo was for her Artist’s Profile Page.

Wonhee wore a short white shirtdress paired with knee-high boots. Since it was for her Artist’s Profile, she wore minimal make-up. She was almost bare-faced in the photo.

Moreover, it was taken before her hiatus.

Hence, her hair was black in the photo.

[They haven’t posted my new Artist’s Profile photo yet.]

"Wonhee-ya, you look good in your natural hair color."

"Thanks," Wonhee said in response to Yejun’s praise, feeling shy all of a sudden. "Is my natural hair color better than my current hair color?"

Yejun tore his gaze away from her photo to look at Wonhee’s face intently. "I can’t decide because I like both. Your black hair suits your sophisticated personality, and I like your orange hair because tangerine is my favorite fruit." His eyes darkened again. "You look more delicious with orange hair, Wonhee-ya. I wanna bite your head–"

Wonhee covered Yejun’s mouth with her hand. "Enough."

Yejun’s eyes turned into little crescent moons when he smiled.

[That’s the smile of a villain.]

"Please stop with the cringe, you two."

Of course, Ahyeon was also there.

[We successfully avoided the reporters waiting in front of the building.]

Wonhee purposely used a "cheap" car this time, and she asked Ahyeon to enter the building through the VIP entrance that only GEE artists had access to.

And here they were now.

"Yejun-ah, Yool-ah, you may go now," Wonhee said while removing her hand from Yejun’s mouth. "Ahyeon will stay with me, so I’ll be fine."

In fact, standing a few feet away from them was the GEE’s security team.

[Our agency’s security team was provided by Soobin Oppa. All of them are D-Class Hunters.]

The security team was waiting with Miss Jang Miyon, the CEO.

[They can’t come near us because Yejun’s presence is too much for them.]

"Okay," Yool said, and then he put on a cap, a face mask, and a pair of sunglasses. "I’m ready."

"Yool-ah, why are you covering your face?"

"I don’t want to look like a squid next to him," Yool said, politely pointing at Yejun with both hands. "He’s too handsome."

"That’s why I wore this today," Yejun said, zipping up his mask hoodie. "Ta-da~"

The X-Class Hunter wore a black turtleneck hoodie in which the turtleneck part was designed to cover the lower half of your face. Since he also put his hoodie on, Yejun’s unique blue-gray-slash-white hair was hidden.

Yool gave Yejun a look of disbelief. "Dude, I know I’m not as handsome as you are. You don’t have to rub it in by being considerate. Plus, even if you cover half of your face, you still look attractive. Heck, you’re even tall and lean."

[Yool is already getting comfortable around Yejun?]

"Nah, it’s not like that. I’m not being considerate of you, Gong Yool," Yejun said while shaking his head. "I covered my face because I didn’t want to look like a squid next to Song Moonho. That freaking old man is too handsome even among Awakened People."

Yool nodded firmly. "Agreed."

"Is Song Moonho-ssi really that handsome even to men?" Wonhee wondered out loud. "But, personally, I think Yejun is more attractive..."

She trailed off when she noticed that Yejun’s eyes literally glowed.

[I shouldn’t have said that...]

Yejun then pulled down his "mask" and hoodie– obviously showing off his handsome face proudly. "You like my face, Wonhee-ya?"

"Do you know that your ears turn red when you lie?"

Wonhee covered her ears with her hands. "No, that’s not true."

Yejun let out a hearty laugh– a real, genuine laugh that made him look soft...

... and more handsome.

[That face should be illegal.]

"WONY-AH, my golden child, you’ve been receiving plenty of love calls from big brands these days."

And that was exactly why Wonhee was there.

By "there," she meant Miss Miyeon’s office.

The two of them were having iced coffee while Ahyeon stood behind the sofa where Wonhee was sitting.

"You’re not checking the internet recently, are you?"

Wonhee smiled and shook her head. "For my mental health, I avoided checking the internet, Miss Miyeon. Are people still talking about me?"

"Of course, my child," Miss Miyeon said proudly. "The video where you were Guiding Hunter Graham while monsters were literally biting you has already gained millions of views. And it’s still a hot topic all over the world!"

She thought that was the case, so she avoided checking the internet.

[It’s scary how the same people who cursed at me when I was accused of drug abuse are now singing me praises for being a "hero."]

Humans are scarier than monsters, indeed.

"Wony-ah, remember the brands who wanted to sue you when your drug scandal broke out?"

Miss Miyeon suddenly got serious.

[The small talk is over– it’s time to talk about business.]

"How can I forget, Miss Miyeon?" Wonhee said, smiling sadly. "They wanted me to pay the penalties for breach of contracts."

After all, one clause in the contracts she signed stated that she must not be embroiled in controversies– specifically drug and/or bullying scandals.

[It was a problem among celebrities recently, so the brands got stricter.]

"But, as far as I know, my lawyers paid the penalties as soon as the brands demanded for it," Wonhee said. "Is there a problem, Miss Miyeon?"

The CEO let out a frustrated sigh. "They kept on sending apologies to you, Wony-ah. The gifts they have sent you so far have already filled our storage room. Do you want to take them home?"

"No. Please send them back."

"Do those brands want to work with me again?"

"That’s right," Miss Miyeon said, nodding. "What do you want to do?"

Wonhee smiled bitterly. "I understand that business is business, but I don’t want to work with brands that don’t have an ounce of trust in me. They didn’t even wait for the result of the investigation– they dropped me as soon as the drug scandal broke out. And now that my name has been cleared, they want me to work with them again? No, thank you."

"Good thinking, Wony-ah," the CEO said. "The variety shows that you were supposed to appear in before you got arrested have been giving us love calls, too. Would you like to appear in their shows after your press conference?"

"Sure. I’d like to apologize to them for the inconvenience of my sudden disappearance anyway."

"I’ll let them know. And, Wony-ah?"

"How about acting again?" Miss Miyeon asked carefully. "The number of scripts that we received lately has doubled. Do you want to check them?"

That was what she was waiting for.

[I can’t wait to act again.]

Wonhee smiled and nodded. "Please send the scripts to my house, Miss Miyeon."

The CEO looked like she wanted to talk more, but their conversation was interrupted when she received a call from her secretary.

"Oh, is it today? I see. I’ll go and greet them then," Miss Miyeon said. Then she turned to Wonhee after talking on the phone. "Wony-ah, the crew of ’Hire Me, Please!’ are here."

’Hire Me, Please!’ was a famous variety show.

It was a show where the hosts would visit different agencies or companies and act like their artists or employees for a day.

[It’s one of the variety shows that want me as a guest before.]

"Since our agency is famous for our cafeteria that serves premium monster dishes, they requested a visit," Miss Miyeon explained. "PD Ha wants to greet me before they start filming. Would you like to greet him with me, Wony-ah?"

PD Ha, a famous producer, was one of the few people Wonhee found genuine in the entertainment industry.

[Plus, PD Ha takes care of Civilian-celebrities well.]

Hence, PD Ha would often cast celebrities under Wonhee’s agency– the only agency who still signed exclusive contracts with Civilian-celebrities when most entertainment companies only wanted Awakened People as their talents.

Wonhee smiled and nodded. "I’d like to greet PD Ha before I leave, Miss Miyeon."

And she’d find out later that was quite a poor decision.

"WE MET again, Wonhee-ya."

Wonhee only came down to the agency’s famous cafeteria to greet PD Ha.

But much to her surprise...

"Ruda Oppa," Wonhee said, bowing to Ruda politely. "You’re here."

Aside from Miss Miyeon and PD Ha, the entire crew of the variety show was there.

Many eyes were watching, so she had to mind her manners.

She didn’t even let her emotions show.

Wonhee smiled at Ruda, hiding her discomfort.

[Ahyeonnie is just behind me, so I’m not scared.]

And, surprisingly, Ruda didn’t smell like camellia flowers today.

"Oh, I guess you didn’t hear," Ruda said, smiling at Wonhee. "They cast me to replace you when you couldn’t film due to the unfortunate events that happened to you recently."

Wonhee was supposed to serve as a guest host for a few episodes, but she got arrested and her drug scandal broke out.

[So, they cast Ruda Oppa in my place.]

But was it okay for Ruda to say it like that?

Now PD Ha looked awkward.

[I have to do something.]

"Thank you for saving the show, Ruda Oppa," Wonhee said, smiling. Then she turned to PD Ha, her smile turning apologetic. "PD-nim, I apologize for the inconvenience I caused you and your staff."

"You don’t have to apologize, Wonhee-ssi. We understand," PD Ha, the forty-something gentleman with a gentle face and calm voice, said kindly. "I’m just glad to see you doing well. I hope we get to work in the future again."

"I’d love to work with you again, PD Ha."

"How about working with me, Wonhee-ya?"

Wonhee turned to Ruda again.

The glint of mischief in the A-Class Guide’s eyes was obvious.

[He’s trying to provoke me.] ᴛʜɪs ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀ ɪs ᴜᴘᴅᴀᴛᴇ ʙʏ N0v3l.Fiɾe.net

"I heard you turned down the role where we’re supposed to act opposite each other," Ruda said, smiling "innocently" at her. "I hope the reason isn’t personal."

Ruda was obviously trying to imply that Wonhee turned down the role because of Ruda and Seodam’s relationship.

Hence, an awkward silence ensued.

Even PD Ha looked lost.

"Acting opposite you would be like a veteran S-Class Hunter sparring with a rookie F-Class Hunter," Wonhee said "innocently," smiling apologetically at Ruda. "I don’t want to accidentally ruin your debut as a newbie actor, Ruda Oppa."

[Translation: We’re not on the same level.]

Ruda, who clearly got Wonhee’s message, suddenly looked cold.
