Chapter 171: Chapter 171
TO BE HONEST, Wonhee already expected Yejun to believe her.
But she didn’t expect him to be this nonchalant about her revelation.
[I mean, I didn’t believe Yool right away. But even after I was finally convinced, I still didn’t listen to him after he warned me about dating Lee Seodam. I thought I could change our future. Well, I did— but I still lost Seodam-ssi.]
"Wonhee-ya, do you already know that you’re gonna end up breaking up with the fake carnivore before you started dating him?" Yejun asked. He wore his glasses again and continued knitting while sitting on the sofa— his legs crossed elegantly. "You said Yool convinced you that he was telling the truth a few months after you met him, correct? Then I assume he must have told you about Lee Seodam. After all, you had to get your heart broken for the second couple’s ship to sail."
[I told him that Graham and Ahn Kisoo were the main couple, while Lee Seodam and Park Ruda were the second couple in the BL novel.]
"Yool doesn’t remember all the details about the novel," Wonhee explained carefully, then she sipped her tea before she continued. "In fact, he doesn’t remember anything when he first came into this world. People around him just assumed that he lost his memories after, apparently, trying to take his own life."
"The original Gong Yool tried to kill himself?"
"Apparently," she said, and then she pointed at Ahyeon who was sitting next to her while drinking a potion. "Yool only remembered that this world was a world within a BL novel when the three of us met."
Ahyeon nodded politely while closing the lid of the vial. "But, at the beginning, Yool Hyung only remembers stuff related to Hunter Graham and Guide Ahn Kisoo."
"Yool only recognized me as the most hated yet most famous Civilian-celebrity in the beginning," Wonhee explained. "He only remembered about Lee Seodam and Park Ruda when I started dating Seodam-ssi. It seems like his memories were triggered when I told him my then-boyfriend’s name. Yool told me Seodam-ssi would awaken, and then he would dump me later to have an intimate relationship with a Guide named Park Ruda."
Yejun raised an eyebrow. "And yet you continued dating the fake carnivore?"
"Yool said I started acting bitter and jealous of Park Ruda, and that became the biggest reason why Lee Seodam got tired of me," Wonhee said defensively. "So, I thought I could change the future by stopping myself from becoming a villainess."
"So, you became a pushover instead?"
"Yah," she complained lightly. She could tell that Yejun was half-serious and half-joking. But since he only stated a fact, she couldn’t really get mad at him. "Anyway, it’s over. Yool was right in the end."
Yejun just grinned. "Did Gong Yool say anything about me?"
"You’re not really a key character in the novel, according to Yool. Apparently, you just get mentioned a lot as Korea’s crazy X-Class Hunter."
"But he didn’t get to finish the novel, did he?"
"Of course," Yejun said confidently. "I just know that I became the main character in the next volume."
"The next volume is supposed to be about Lee Seodam and Park Ruda," Wonhee said, knitting her eyebrows. "Do you wish to be a BL novel’s main character?"
Ahyeon almost choked on his saliva while trying to hold back his laughter.
"We’ll change the genre, of course," Yejun said, unfazed. "You said Yool suspects that you became a full-blown villainess in the volume that he didn’t get to read, right?"
"Yeah, that’s right."
"Then we probably ended up together in the novel as well."
[This man and his confidence...]
"That’s a stretch, Yejun-ah," Wonhee said while shaking her head. "How did you come up with that conclusion when you’re not even a supporting character in the novel?"
"My existence is too grand to just be mentioned as a passing character," Yejun said bluntly. He didn’t sound arrogant— somehow, it sounded like he was only stating a fact even though he was just sharing his opinion. "The same goes for you, Wonhee-ya. I don’t believe that you’ve become a villainess."
"You want me to become one, Yejun-ah."
"Only if I’m the one who turned you into a villainess."
"You’re such a bad guy, Hwang Yejun."
"Never claimed I was a nice guy."
"Aww. Is my Wonhee upset?" Yejun asked, and then he put down his craft things on the table before he got up. And then he got down on one knee in front of her, placing his arms on her lap as he looked up at her with a teasing smile on his face. "You’re not allowed to be a villainess without me, though."
"Why do I need your permission?"
"Because every villainess needs a loyal and devoted henchman," Yejun said, smiling until his pretty golden eyes turned into little crescent moons. That there was the smile of a villain. "I’ll be your henchman, so tell me in advance when you decide to become a villainess— I’ll be there to do all the dirty works for you, Wonhee-ya."
That was so cringe and sweet at the same time.
"You’re already doing that," Wonhee said, cupping Yejun’s face between her hands. "But I won’t let you do the dirty works alone, Yejun-ah— let do it together if we have to."
Wonhee felt a little intimidated even though there were only other four people in the room with her.
Those people were Yejun, Ahyeon, Yool, and Song Moonho.
Right now, the five of them were in the guest room where Yool was confined in.
The entire room was covered with Ahyeon and Yool’s barrier.
[I already informed Soobin Oppa and Semi Unnie about this meeting, so I hope they don’t worry too much if they see the barrier.]
"So, Gong Yool is a Transmigrator."
Everyone turned to Song Moonho after he broke the silence.
Yool finally revealed his secret to the Necromancer.
Like Yejun, Song Moonho took it lightly.
"I believe you, Yool-ssi," Song Moonho said. "But I don’t agree that this entire world is a world that only exists inside a random BL novel."
"Right?" Yejun agreed while nodding. "This world is too detailed to be a random person’s imagination. I remember everything from my childhood. So, I find it hard to believe that we’re just characters in a novel that someone wrote."
Yool knitted his eyebrows as if he was offended. "You said you believe me. But you’re making it sound like I’m lying."
"H-Hyung isn’t a liar," Ahyeon said. He looked intimidated by Yejun and Song Moonho, but he didn’t back down. "A-All of Hyung’s predictions came true, especially the things that occurred between Hunter Graham and Guide Ahn Kisoo."
Yejun and Song Moonho spoke at the same time. "Exactly."
"Oh. Is it about what you said earlier, Yejun-ah?" Wonhee asked curiously. "That the novel Yool read is similar to a prophecy that dictates the future?"
"I’m not sure if it was even a novel since Gong Yool appears to be an unreliable narrator," Yejun said, and then he focused his gaze on Yool. "I’m not saying you’re a liar, Gong Yool. But Wonhee mentioned that your memories were jumbled when you first arrived in this world. Moreover, you sometimes only remember important stuff when your memory is triggered. So, we’re not sure if the ’novel’ you read was really a ’novel.’"
"I agree with our maknae," Song Moonho said while nodding. "Yool-ssi might have seen the future."
Wonhee paused for a moment, and then she gasped.
Of course, Yejun immediately turned to her and asked if she was okay.
"I’m alright," Wonhee assured Yejun and gently patted his knee. "I just remembered that the System once said that Yool is a special existence."
Song Moonho turned to Yool. "Then there must be a reason why Yool-ssi was sent here."
"T-The diaries," Ahyeon said meekly. "It’s a shame that we can’t read the contents of Hyung’s diaries without making a sacrifice."
Song Moonho frowned. "We can figure this out without using the diaries’ help."
Yep, they also revealed to Yejun and Song Moonho about the diaries.
[And how the System wants to sacrifice Yool to give us the information that we need.]
Yejun raised his hand. "May I take a look at the diaries we’re talking about?"
"Why?" Yool asked curiously. "The pages are empty."
"I can see other people’s Status Window, so I feel like I’ll see something different once I touch your diaries."
"I’m a Civilian, so I don’t have a Status Window."
"That’s what Wonhee said to me before, too."
[Yejun knew that I was a Guide before I even realized I awakened.]
[Yejun also said that Lee Seojin was an interesting kid, and then Jin suddenly fell into a comatose state— which is the first step in awakening.]
"Yool-ah," Wonhee said, calling her friend. "Can we show the diaries to Yejun?"
"Alright," Yool said, nodding. "I trust your judgment, Wony-ah."
Wonhee then pulled out the mini-vault from her Inventory.
Then Yool opened the vault and pulled out the diaries inside before he handed everything to Yejun.
"Don’t be disappointed if you see nothing," Yool said. "I already said that— oh, shit!"
Wonhee and the rest were surprised when Yejun suddenly fainted as soon as he flipped the first diary open.
"WAKE UP— you’re humanity’s only hope now, Hwang Frost."
Yejun knew that it was a dream.
After all, the ruined skyscrapers around him suggested that another apocalypse had left the entire world destroyed once again.
In the middle of a fallen modern city stood a huge block of ice.
And Yejun stood on top of it, looking down at the woman trying to break the wall of ice with a stone.
[Wonhee-ya, you still look so pretty in your thirties.]
Not that thirty was old.
But, yes, the Wonhee he was looking at was definitely older than the Wonhee in his reality.
The older Wonhee had short black hair.
The older Wonhee wore ragged clothes, but she still looked good in them.
"Please wake up," the older Wonhee pleaded. "You’re the strongest Hunter in the world."
Yejun crossed his arms over his chest. "Am I the strongest Hunter or am I the ONLY strong Hunter left alive in this ruined world?"
"You’re the only person who can reset the world after I die, Hwang Frost." Google seaʀᴄh novelꜰire.net
And then the older Wonhee suddenly coughed up blood.
Yejun tried to jump in order to run to Wonhee’s side, but he realized he couldn’t move.
"We have to reset the world to correct our mistakes," Wonhee said weakly while wiping the blood off her mouth with the back of her hand. "There are so many bastards here who don’t deserve to awaken after the reset."
Yejun gasped when he heard Wonhee curse so naturally. "That’s so hot."
"So you better wake up now, Hwang Frost," Wonhee said, pressing her forehead against the ice wall before she closed her eyes. "I’ll be your Guide, so please be my Hunter."
Yejun smiled triumphantly.
[We’re really the main characters here, Wonhee-ya.]
