Chapter 161: Chapter 161
IT WAS the day when Yejun met the core members of the Winter Guild again.
That meeting included Kim Bora, the triplets, his father, and Grandpa Suk-yong.
His mother, the Vice Guildmaster of the Winter Guild, sat out of the meeting to keep Wonhee company.
[I hope Wonhee gets along with Eomma.]
"Soline Unnie got information that the United Awakened Nations has secretly sent three Top 40 World Rankers to South Korea," Kim Bora said. "The excuse is the same excuse UAN used when the world leaders tried to recruit the Big 4 into working for them."
Yejun, who was once "recruited" by UAN, clenched his jaw. "Basically, they’re saying South Korea can’t monopolize the first S-Class Guide in the world. They’re trying to make Chu Wonhee a UAN property."
Meaning, UAN wanted the right to send Chu Wonhee to whichever country that needed her help as a Guide.
"Kwon Jiwoong is greedy, so he won’t let UAN take Wonhee away," Yejun concluded, tapping his fingertips on the table. "APA stood up against UAN before and threatened them that South Korea would leave the organization if they didn’t stop "recruiting" the Big 4. Surely, APA would do the same for the first S-Class Guide in the world, right?"
"It would be nice if that was the case," Grandpa Suk-yong said, sighing. "But according to the spy that I planted near Kwon Jiwoong, APA seems to be hesitating. Of course, Kwon Jiwoong initially rejected the World Rankers’ request to hand Hee-ya to them. But, apparently, Kwon Jiwoong is now hesitating after the World Rankers threatened to attack South Korea."
Yejun knitted his eyebrows. "But why? Wonhee is a natural treasure— she’s the first S-Class Guide in the world. Has APA lost its mind?"
"It’s because APA is no longer confident that they could stand up against AUN," Hwang Junsang, Yejun’s father, said calmly. "APA was arrogant before because the Big 4 was at their prime back then. South Korea was a small nation, but no one dared to mess with us because only our country was blessed with four naturally awakened S-Class Hunters."
"But over the years, you and your fellow Big 4 members have gone crazy," Hwang Minsu, Yejun older cousin, said while shaking her head. "And then you fell from grace, Yejun. You were the Big 4’s strongest member."
"Graham-ssi was labeled as the Big 4’s new tank after you became an X-Class," Hwang Minho said. "But he’s not as strong as you. Of course, Graham-ssi is the strongest Hunter in South Korea after you, Yejun. But your crazy ass was on a different league, so it felt like Graham-ssi was inferior."
"Semi Noona isn’t a combatant Hunter, so she was out of the question," Hwang Minki added. "That leaves Song Moonho-ssi. He’s crazy strong, too, but he’s too unpredictable. Moreover, Song Moonho has this vibes that say he’ll sell out the country if he has to."
Kim Bora scoffed. "I can’t believe our country depends on crazy people..."
"Well, it seems like APA has already lost their faith in the Big 4," Grandpa Suk-yong said, his eyes glowing menacingly. "And that’s why they’re thinking about handing my precious granddaughter to UAN just to protect themselves."
The entire conference room fell silent.
Only the sound of Yejun’s fingertips hitting the table was heard.
"It was my fault that APA— and even the Civilians— lost their faith in the Big 4
"Son, it wasn’t entirely your fault," his father said firmly. "The four of you are equally crazy and have had your fair share of crimes— you are all tax evaders, too."
The Hwang Triplets laughed out loud.
Even the reserved Kim Bora and the stern Grandpa Suk-yong stifled their laughter.
His father, who sensed his sarcasm, blushed as if he was embarrassed. "Son, you know I don’t mean it that way."
"I was only joking, Abeoji."
His father looked relieved.
"Anyway, all I had to do is to show APA that I can still protect the country, right?" Yejun asked casually. "I hate to admit this, but when it comes to international conflicts, it’s still better to let APA deal with it. So, I must convince them first that I can protect them in order for them to protect Chu Wonhee."
APA was good at gaslighting people and organizations, of course.
[The Big 4 is only good at destroying stuff— including international affairs— so it’s APA’s turn to be useful this time.]
"How?" Grandpa Suk-yong asked curiously. "Do you already have a plan, brat?"
Yejun pointed at himself. "I’ve always said this and I’ll say it again— I am the plan."
[HUNTER Hwang Yejun calling. The most update n0vels are published on NoveIFire.net
Only members of the Big 4 would and could probably reject a call from THE Hwang Frost.
Unfortunately, Hamin wasn’t a part of that group.
Hence, even though he was in the middle of entering a dungeon, he had to stop and press the button that appeared on his Status Window.
"Hwang Yejun, I’m about to enter a dungeon, so make it quick–"
<"South Korea is low-key under attack by foreign World Rankers in the Top 40, Hyung.">
That was something he couldn’t ignore.
<"Who do you think can deal with World Rankers within that range?">
Hwang Yejun just laughed out loud.
"I know that someone of your caliber can easily deal with those World Rankers," Hamin said carefully. "But I can’t trust you, Hwang Yejun. You haven’t fully recovered yet. What will we do if you snap again? Just let Graham and Song Moonho deal with it."
<"You don’t have to trust me, Hyung. But please trust Chu Wonhee. As long as she’s my Guide, I will never snap again.">
"Why do you need to gain my trust?"
<"Because aside from the Big 4, you’re one of the few Guildmasters that APA can’t afford to lose, Hyung. I need your recommendation.">
"My recommendation for what?"
<"For my reinstatement as an S-Class— as the Big 4’s strongest.">
In short, Hwang Yejun wanted Hamin to act as a guarantor.
"You’re putting me in a tight spot, Hwang Yejun."
<"Hyung, this is for the sake of the country. You wouldn’t want World Rankers attacking us because they think South Korea has already lost the Big 4, right?">
[The only reason South Korea, despite being a small country, remained safe all this time is because we have the Big 4.]
But after Hwang Yejun fell from grace...
[I can see why we need Hwang Yejun— no, Hwang Frost back.]
"When do you need my recommendation?"
<"Right at this very moment, Hyung.">
<"I’ll wait for you at the Blue House, Hyung!">
Hamin could only sigh and shake his head— annoyed that he had to change his plan and leave the dungeon raid to the Vice Guildmaster.
But what could he do?
[All the Hunters in Korea are slaves to the Big 4.]
"Did Hwang Frost summon you?"
It was Chef Ryung Dae, his friend.
"Yes, so I need to sit this one out," Hamin said, sighing. "Apparently, he needs my help to get the right to deal with the World Rankers who came to threaten our country."
"Then go," Ryung Dae said. "I’ll take the lead for this mission."
"If you’re sorry, then can you do me a favor?"
"Provide a decent Guide for Ahyeon," Ryung Dae said, his face turning red as if he was embarrassed. "I know that Chu Wonhee can provide it for him, and I’m also aware that Ahyeon is no longer a member of our guild. Even so, I don’t want him to feel like we’ve already abandoned him just because his contract with the Fall Guild already ended. So, I want you to make Ahyeon feel that he’s still welcome here."
"Alright. I can do that," Hamin said, and then he knitted his eyebrows. "But you can also do that, Dae-ya."
"Ahyeon will be happier if it’s you, Hyung."
Ryung Dae sighed, and then he patted Hamin’s shoulder while shaking his head. "Bless your dense heart, my friend."
Hamin was confused because he didn’t understand what his friend meant by that. "How am I dense?"
