Chapter 142: Chapter 142

[After Yejun and Wonhee got out of the Crack safely...]

"HWANG Yejun, you owe me ten billion won."

"Ah, Hyung," Yejun complained to Hamin as soon as his feet touched the Fall Guild Guildmaster’s penthouse. And, yes, he was back to where he was before the Crack appeared. This time, (the sleeping) Wonhee was safe in his arms. "Are glass windows that expensive these days?"

Of course, he knew that everything had been so expensive after the Outbreak.

Life pre-Outbreak was already hard, so imagine the inflation after the world almost ended. During the early days of the Outbreak, many Civilians actually ended their lives because they couldn’t afford living.

That was how bleak the world was back then.

"Those windows were supposed to withstand the attack of an A-grade monster," Hamin complained bluntly. He was even looking at Hamin like he wanted to smack him in the head. "I bought the materials from Yeon Soobin. So, of course, they’re expensive."

Yejun could afford it easily...

[If my assets aren’t frozen, that is.]

"Hyung should give me a discount."

"A Big 4 member is the last person I’d give a discount to."

"The government is already robbing us in daylight by making us pay double our taxes, Hyung. Don’t you feel bad for us?"

"Okay," Yejun said, sighing. "Hyung, can I borrow a room here? Wonhee and I need to sleep to recover."

Since Wonhee was already asleep, he figured he’d catch some sleep, too.

"Fine, but you’ll answer my questions later," Hamin said, and then his gaze landed on the sleeping Wonhee in Yejun’s arms. "I also have a few questions for Chu Wonhee."

"Of course, Hyung," Yejun lied with a straight face knowing damn well that he wouldn’t spill the beans. "So, please guard the penthouse while we sleep."

YOOL woke up with a headache.

Fortunately, it wasn’t as bad as earlier.

[Where the hell am I?]

That bedroom was too fancier than his room at Song Moonho’s hotel.

[I was with that ahjussi when I fainted.]

"You’re awake, Yool-ssi?"

[He’s calling me formally again.]

Yool wondered if hearing the old man call him ’Yool-ah’ earlier was just a dream.

Song Moonho came in from the balcony while putting his phone in the back pocket of his trousers. "I just had a phone call with Semi Noona. She said Hwang Yejun rescued Chu Wonhee safely, and the two are currently asleep in Hunter Hamin’s apartment."

"Thank you for the detailed report, Ahjussi," Yool said while getting up. "And thank you for taking care of me."

"If you’re really thankful to me, then you can open up to me."

"Whatever do you mean by that?"

"It seems like you remember something while you were sleeping."

""Don’t do it, Wony-ah. You’ll die if you purify him." You kept saying those things again and again."

"What are you talking about..."

Yool trailed off when he remembered the vivid ’dream’ that he had before he fainted.

["Wony-ah, don’t do it."]

["Yool-ah, only I can purify Seodam Oppa!"]

[Is that from the original Gong Yool’s memories? But the Wony and Gong Yool that I saw in that ’dream’ were older than we are at the moment.]

Did Yool have a vision of the future?

But that couldn’t be right.

[Wony has already stopped calling Lee Seodam ’Oppa.’ Why would she call him ’Oppa’ in the future again?]

Yool clutched his head when he started to get a headache again.

"Don’t force yourself to remember, Yool-ssi."

"You asked, Ahjussi."

Song Moonho just shrugged. "I care about your well-being more than the information I can get from you."

Yool frowned. "Ahjussi, you can’t be cringe-y at your big age."

The old man just shrugged. "You can rest here in the meantime, Yool-ssi. You can’t see Chu Wonhee yet anyway."

"Are you going to leave?"

"How can I leave you here alone?"

"If you’re worried I might steal from your house–"

"I know you wouldn’t do that, Yool-ssi," Song Moonho interrupted him, laughing softly. "And, even if you did, I wouldn’t mind."

Yool scoffed. "You probably think that the information I have is worth that much."

"You might have to spend all your fortune if you want to make me talk, Ahjussi."

"Yool-ssi, it will be easier to make a small country perish than to make me bankrupt."

Yool couldn’t say anything to that because he knew that the Big 4 members were all filthy rich.

The Awakened World was a lucrative business, after all.

[This Ahjussi is even involved in illegal things.]

Yool was about to challenge Song Moonho to spend his fortune on him first if he wanted to bribe him.

But the old man suddenly raised his head and stared blankly into the air.

[Ah, his Status Window popped up.]

"I’m sorry, but I can’t stay and watch you sleep, Yool-ssi."

"Why would I want you to watch me sleep, you creepy ahjussi?"

Song Moonho just chuckled and, much to Yool’s surprise, he ruffled his hair. "You’re safe here, so don’t leave my house until I return," he said. Then he pulled out his wallet and took out his Black Card. "Here. Use it to buy anything you want while you wait."

This was the second time Yool saw a Black Card in person.

"Okay," Yool said, accepting the Black Card with all his heart. "Don’t blame me if you get bankrupt, Ahjussi."

Song Moonho just laughed, obviously confident that Yool couldn’t make him bankrupt.

[This Ahjussi is so sugar daddy-coded.]

Graham was half-amazed and half-annoyed that Hwang Yejun’s hunch was on the spot again.

[Should I call him ’hyung’ permanently?]

"What the hell is this?"

Graham watched Kwon Jiwoong panic while looking around.

[It seems like his reaction is genuine.]

The APA President looked as horrified as everyone else upon discovering what seemed like an old church right below President Ma’s official and private residence in the Blue House.

[No, it looks more like a shrine?]

But the ’thing’ that was being worshipped there was an old computer.

The 55-inch computer monitor was placed on what seemed like a broken altar.

There were seven pillars around, and each one had a small computer monitor on top of it.

It would have looked funny, but the dark aura surrounding it was no joke.

"Don’t touch anything here," Graham warned everyone behind him. He was on the front line, after all. "Especially the Civilians."

The Civilians would be the Special Forces (Cracks Division) with them there.

"Unbelievable..." ɴᴇᴡ ɴᴏᴠᴇʟ ᴄʜᴀᴘᴛᴇʀs ᴀʀᴇ ᴘᴜʙʟɪsʜᴇᴅ ᴏɴ NoveI(F)ire.net

Graham glanced at Kwon Jiwoong and raised an eyebrow. "You were the one who said that we should check the basement under President Ma’s residence, Kwon Jiwoong. Why do you look so surprised?"

Kwon Jiwoong glared at Graham before he explained. "After Hwang Frost said that the Blue House might be haunted, I remember that President Ma left his official residence here because, apparently, he kept having nightmares. He even summoned some shamans here to ward off the "bad vibes." When it didn’t work, President Ma just decided to leave."

"Then you should have told the Big 4."

"APA has its pride, too."

"And where did that pride lead you to?"

Of course, Kwon Jiwoong couldn’t say anything.

Graham wanted to scold the APA President more, but he stopped when his Status Window suddenly popped up.

"I have to go," Graham said urgently. "Don’t let anyone touch anything here, okay?"

SOOBIN was contemplating whether to wake Wonhee or not.

He was now at Hamin’s apartment with Geon and Semi.

The owner of the house had already left for work, hence only the three of them were left in the living room.

Wonhee and Yejun were sleeping in the guest room of the apartment.

"Should we wake them up?" Soobin asked out loud when his patience ran out. "I want to check on our Hee-ya."

"Be patient, Soobin," Geon said, gently patting his back. "Our Hee-ya needs to rest."

Semi looked like she was about to say something, but she paused and stared in the air blankly– obviously looking at her Status Window.

[I hope it’s not another dungeon break.]

"Soobin-ah, Geon-ah, stay here and guard Wonhee in the meantime," Semi said, looking at Soobin and Geon with a serious look on his face. "The System has summoned the Big 4."

YEJUN immediately opened his eyes when he felt the System forcing him to wake up.

His Status Window was already hovering above his face then.

THE VIRUS IS TRYING TO POSSESS HUNTER LEE SEODAM AGAIN! GO AND APPREHEND HUNTER LEE SEODAM! CATCH THE VIRUS!]

That was probably the talking orange.

"Do I really have to go?" Yejun complained, and then he glanced at the sleeping angel beside him. "I don’t want to leave my Wonhee."

There was no way he’d bring Wonhee to where the fake carnivore was.

[THERE WILL BE A WORTHWHILE REWARD!]

[IT’S A SKILL THAT WILL HELP YOU FIND CHU WONHEE WHEREVER AND WHENEVER!]

That was a perfect skill for stalking.

Yejun immediately got up. "Gimme a second."
