Chapter 123: Chapter 123
[IT’S LIKE an umbrella...]
Park Ruda was amazed while watching Do Ahyeon cast a barrier with beautiful silver lights shimmering around it.
It started from the Blue House.
And then the barrier expanded until it was big enough to cover the entire area.
The barrier wasn’t only wide– it was also sturdy.
That shouldn’t be possible.
Ruda turned to Lee Seodam who was also watching Do Ahyeon’s barrier in awe. "Seodam, isn’t Do Ahyeon only a C-Class Hunter?"
"Yes, he’s only a C-Class Hunter. APA would know if he has leveled up since Do Ahyeon doesn’t have the guts to hide things like that from the government," Seodam said, gulping hard. "But this level of skill should at least be S-Grade."
Hunters were ranked based on the skills they possessed.
A-Class Hunters became A-Class Hunters because of the S-Grade skills they possessed.
The Big 4 was the Big 4 because only the four of them managed to upgrade their given S-Grade skills to a higher level.
[It’s rumored that each of the Big 4 has at least one L-Grade skill, and most people don’t even believe that L-Grade skills exist because only the Big 4 possess them. It’s hard to confirm it since the Big 4 don’t go around announcing their skill levels.]
The point was the higher-graded skills a Hunter possessed, the higher their level was.
[How come Do Ahyeon is only a C-Class Hunter with that skill?]
"Isn’t that Hunter the one who serves as Chu Wonhee’s personal bodyguard?" Kwon Jiwoong asked. "The one from the Fall Guild?"
Ruda could see the greediness in the APA President’s eyes.
[He wants Do Ahyeon.]
"That’s right, President," Seodam said. "Do Ahyeon is from the Fall Guild."
"He’s only a C-Class Hunter, you say?"
[So, Kwon Jiwoong was listening to our conversation.]
"APA should re-assess Do Ahyeon’s level," Kwon Jiwoong said firmly. "He can’t be a C-Class Hunter with a skill like that."
"Do Ahyeon belongs to the Fall Guild," Ruda reminded the president. "And Fall Guild is a pretty big private guild."
"The Fall Guild belongs to SC Foods, and APA has a good relationship with the chairman of SC Foods." The most update n0vels are published on NoveIꜰire.net
[So, our poor Wonhee might lose her personal bodyguard soon. APA still has control over the country’s Hunters, after all.]
Except for the Big 4, of course.
[Look at them now– none of them is moving.]
"Hey, Big 4!" Kwon Jiwoong yelled, obviously pissed. "How long are you going to ignore me when we have an emergency here?!"
It was Yeon Soobin who spoke up and not one of the Big 4.
Ruda saw the Big 4 talking to the APA Vice President, and the Big 4 members were probaly relaying their plan to Yeon Soobin.
All the while ignoring Kwon Jiwoong– the APA President.
[The Big 4 really disrespects Kwon Jiwoong every chance they get...]
"Listen carefully because I’m only going to say this once," Yeon Soobin said after approaching Kwon Jiwoong. "Hwang Frost and Wonhee will come out of the dungeon... with the final boss."
Ruda was surprised to hear that, and so was Seodam.
Of course, the one who was shocked the most was the APA President.
"Did Hwang Frost fail to clear the dungeon?" Kwon Jiwoong asked in a panic. "Why is he bringing the monster out?! Is he crazy?"
"Yeah, Hwang Frost is crazy. Have you forgotten that you locked him up because he went insane?" Yeon Soobin answered sarcastically. "It will be fine as long as the Blue House stays intact, and no one gets hurt, right?"
"Yeon Soobin, Korea is the land of CCTVs!" Kwon Jiwoong snapped back at the Vice President, still in a panic. "What do you think will happen if the Civilians see the monster–"
"Then prevent that from happening," Yeon Soobin said, cutting off Kwon Jiwoong rudely. "This is why the Big 4 looks down on APA, Kwon Jiwoong– you can’t do anything right without them."
Ruda thought that was a huge blow.
[Kwon Jiwoong has a huge inferiority complex towards the Big 4...]
"President, we’ll get rid of the CCTV around the area. It’s faster than calling the tower to turn them off," Seodam offered. "There’s a low probability that Civilians are lingering around the area since the Special Forces have been keeping an eye on the entire place for the past week. But I’ll mobilize our Hunters to make sure no Civilians are around."
Ruda was about to say that he’d join Seodam, but he trailed off when the ground shook hard.
And then the Crack finally burst open.
["I’M BITNA! You can’t define me with mere words like ’Hunter’ or ’Guide!’ I’m more than those lame titles! Haha!"]
Wonhee was surprised when Bitna’s demeanor suddenly changed.
[She looks scary earlier, but she’s laughing now.]
After that Bitna’s face lit up, Wonhee could now clearly see her cute face.
[She has adorable freckles.]
"Bitna-ya, you’re such an enigma."
["Wonhee-ya, I suck at English, but the word you used sounds fancy."]
Wonhee unconsciously spoke in Konglish (Korean+English). "’Enigma’ means a mystery, a riddle. Something like that."
["That’s nice! I should have renamed myself ’Enigma’ instead of ’Bitna.’ But, come to think of it, I wasn’t the one who thought of this name. It was a Hunter. In exchange for the name he gave me, I gave him the name ’San’ because he was really tall. Well, I’m kinda small and he was like a mountain to me back then. So, I called him ’San.’"]
Because ’San’ meant mountain.
[Isn’t that Hunter Hamin’s alias?]
[The System said Hunter Hamin is the ’key’ that will lead me to my !]
"Bitna-ya, do you know Hunter Hamin? Last name ’Ha,’ first name ’Min.’"
Bitna smiled as if she had been waiting for Wonhee to ask that question.
["Wonhee-ya, did that kid become a respectable Hunter?"]
"Hunter Hamin is older than us, but yes, he’s a respectable Hunter," Wonhee said, smiling. "He contributed a lot as the first Culinary Hunter in Korea. He’s actually busier than the Big 4 these days because he keeps on looking for dungeons where monsters that are safe for human consumption live."
["If he’s still raiding dungeons just to find monsters to cook, then he already failed as a Culinary Hunter."]
"Hunter Hamin is a failure? But he’s good at his job..."
["Tell him to do better– don’t make me crawl out of this hellhole because I’ll only bring menace to the outside world."]
"If you’re not coming out of the dungeon, then why does the System want us to meet?"
["Wonhee-ya, do you hate how the Guides have to provide sexual pleasure to Hunters in order to guide them?"]
"I hate it," Wonhee said, clenching her hands tightly. "And I want to change it."
["That determination is actually what connected us together, Wonhee-ya. Had you not sincerely wished for the Guiding System to change, then the System wouldn’t have brought me here."]
Wonhee let out a gasp. "Then are you saying that you want to change it, too?"
"But how do we change the system?"
["You haven’t unlocked the skill that will help us pull this off, Wonhee-ya. I need you to grow stronger first. You can do that by simply opening your eyes. And use that thing to your advantage."]
["You have the luck of someone who saved the entire world in their past life, my friend."]
Wonhee had heard that phrase so many times before.
She knew that it was just an expression.
[So, why do I feel weird after hearing that I have the luck of "someone who saved the entire world in their past life?"]
Wonhee was distracted when Yejun suddenly appeared behind her while wrapping his arms around her waist.
And then Yejun buried his face against her neck.
[Oh, he’s breathing heavily... like he’s running out of breath.]
Wonhee thought that Yejun caught the giant monster "easily" because he looked calm and was quiet while doing the job.
But he must have used a lot of his Mana to make it look easy.
"I just need three minutes to recharge," Yejun said in a lazy voice. "The System notified me and said it would help us come out of the dungeon this once. Apparently, it’s a favor for your broccoli friend."
["I said I’m a cabbage, dumbass."]
"Same difference– you’re still a fucking green vegetable. Your mascot doesn’t suit a carnivore like you."
["What did you say, you fucking discount J*ck Frost?"]
"Bitna-ya, it’s a compliment," Wonhee said in a hurry. "Yejun calls strong Awakened People like you ’carnivores.’"
[It only applies to Hunters, though. But Bitna is both a Hunter and a Guide, I think.]
["What a weird way to compliment people. Wonhee-ya, don’t date men like that."]
Wonhee cleared her throat. "W-We’re not dating."
"Yet," Yejun added cheekily. "Not yet."
Wonhee just pinched Yejun’s hand lightly, and Yejun just chuckled while hugging her tighter. "Bitna-ya, can we still talk after we leave the dungeon?"
["It’s up to you, Wonhee-ya."]
["As long as your desire to change the Guiding System remains firm, you’ll unlock the skill that will connect us without restrictions. Until then, you have to grow stronger, Wonhee-ya. Please live up to your name as the first S-Class Guide in the world."]
Wonhee nodded firmly. "I understand, Bitna-ya– I will show the System that I’m serious about changing the Guiding System."
Yool flinched when the beautiful iceberg finally exploded.
Fortunately, the explosion’s deafening sound was muffled by Ahyeon’s barrier. It still caused a strong vibration all over the barrier, though.
But he had complete faith in Ahyeon and his abilities.
"Yool-ah, your friend is great."
"Of course," Yool said proudly in response to Graham’s compliment. "Our Ahyeonnie is great at making barriers."
"His ability is at least S-Grade," Graham said while looking up at the silver-ish dome-like barrier that was protecting them at the moment. "Your friend can’t be a mere C-Class Hunter."
Yool wanted to ask Graham to elaborate on that, but he didn’t get the chance to do so because of what happened next.
[Wow... what is that?]
Well, it was a giant white tortoise with a mountain for a shell.
[The snowy mountain is probably around 300 meters tall?]
Yes, it was that big.
And the gigantic sphere where the giant white tortoise with a snowy mountain for a shell was bigger since it managed to capture the monster. It was snowing inside the gigantic sphere, so it looked like the monster was just a decoration inside a unique snow globe.
Except that thing wasn’t a snow globe, and that monster was starting to move.
[The giant white tortoise also looks angry as fuck.]
"Ah, the Hwang Frost is back."
Yool couldn’t properly see because he was a mere Civilian, but it seemed like all the Hunters there were looking at something on top of the snow globe.
He couldn’t see it, but he could use his brain.
[Hwang Frost and Wonhee are probably there.]
And he didn’t have to wonder for long.
In just the blink of an eye, Hwang Frost appeared in front of them while carrying Wonhee in his arms.
Hwang Frost’s eyes were glowing gold and then...
Yool was surprised when he suddenly fell to his knees.
He could feel the crushing pressure pushing him down.
And he wasn’t the only one who experienced that.
All the APA Hunters and the Special Forces (Cracks Division) Agents fell to the ground as well, kneeling.
Yes--- even President Kwon Jiwoong, Lee Seodam, and Park Ruda.
The only ones who remained standing were the Big 4, Yeon Soobin, Yeon Suk-yong, Chef Ryung Dae, and Fall Guild’s Guildmaster Hamin.
Surprisingly, Ahyeon also remained standing.
[Ahyeonnie’s knees are shaking a bit, though.]
"Welcome back, Hwang Frost– the strongest member of Big 4," Song Moonho said cheerfully. "So, what’s the plan?"
"You already know it," Hwang Frost said, scoffing. "I am the plan, so just get ready to clean up after my mess."
