Chapter 108: Chapter 108
[THE SPECIAL FORCES (Cracks Division) are so efficient.]
Yool was amazed at how the Special Forces (Cracks Division), led by the famous and trustworthy Captain Lee Jihoo, handled the situation.
The Civilians were evacuated fast.
Plus, the entire apartment complex was quickly surrounded by Special Forces Agents to prevent people from entering the place.
[Of course, that means I’m blocked from entering the place, too.]
"It seems like I’m late this time."
Yool, for the first time, felt thrilled to see Song Moonho appear out of thin air. "Ahjussi!"
"Should I be moved?" Song Moonho asked, flashing that annoying charming smile of his at Yool. "You look excited to see me for once, Yool-ssi."
"Ahjussi, are you here to check on Wony?"
"I’m here to check on you, Yool-ssi. But I might as well check on Chu Wonhee since the System informed me about her situation."
"Don’t slack off– you signed a contract where you agreed to protect Wony."
"I’m not slacking off. The System asked me to do an important task before it informed me about Chu Wonhee’s condition. But from my understanding, Graham arrived on time."
[It’s hard to win an argument against this old man.]
"I’m serious when I said I’m here for you," Song Moonho said, still flashing that damned smile. "Yool-ssi, we’ve already found who bought your belongings that your crazy fan sold on the internet. We’ve also successfully secured your missing stuff."
"Thank you, but let’s talk about that later. I wanna check on Wony and Ahyeonnie first," Yool said. He was satisfied to know that his belongings were now safe. "The Special Forces Agents won’t let anyone in the building. But if you use your teleportation skills–"
"How did you know I gained a teleportation skill?"
Yool couldn’t say that it was because of Graham’s big mouth, so he just avoided Song Moonho’s gaze. "Just a lucky guess?"
"You’re really full of mysteries, Yool-ssi."
Yool turned to Song Moonho just to give him a side-eye. "Why are you being weird now?"
"What do you mean by that, Yool-ssi?" Song Moonho asked, smiling with his arms wide open. "I need to hold you if we’re going to use my teleportation skill."
"I’m pretty sure grabbing me by the arm will work."
Yool was too lazy to argue with this stubborn old man.
Plus, he wanted to check on Wonhee and Ahyeon as soon as possible.
"?" Yool asked, wrapping an arm around Song Moonho’s waist. And then he looked up at the old man with a frown. "Why do you look shocked? You’re the one who said you needed to hold me."
It was annoying because Song Moonho smelled so freaking good.
[As if it’s not enough that his face is my type, he also has to have an addicting scent...]
"I was actually just pulling Yool-ssi’s leg, so I was surprised when you took my teasing seriously."
Yool was about to remove his arms around Song Moonho’s waist, but the old man quickly wrapped his (strong) arms around his body.
"You smell nice, Yool-ssi."
Fortunately, Yool didn’t have to say anything because they got to the penthouse in just the blink of an eye.
"Song Moonho, why are you harassing our Yool again?!"
Yool glared at Graham while slightly pushing Song Moonho.
That damned ahjussi gently squeezed Yool’s waist before completely letting him go.
"Hyung, I’m glad you’re here!" Ahyeon said, running towards him. And then he grabbed his hands. "We must stop Wony Noona!"
Yool looked around and knitted his eyebrows. "Where’s Wony?"
"Noona is changing clothes because she said she’d go out and attend an audition!"
[Has Chu Wonhee gone crazy?]
"Hello, Semi-ssi," Yool said, greeting Jang Semi who appeared out of nowhere. "You’re here."
It seemed like the System gathered the Big 4 to protect Wonhee, huh?
Semi looked around, and then knitted her eyebrows. "Where’s my baby sister."
"Don’t be surprised, Semi-ssi. But I think your baby sister has gone crazy," Yool said bluntly. "Wony said she’s going out to attend some audition."
That was the name of the villainess in Park Ruda’s debut drama.
It was the role that Wonhee rejected before.
[But I’m gonna take it back now.]
The character Kang Wonyoung was an amateur race car driver whose concept was ’girl crush material.’
Hence, Wonhee wore a black leather jacket over a white crop top, leather pants, and leather boots. She let her long and wavy (now back to orange!) hair flow freely on her back, giving her a messy look.
And, finally, she opted for the smokey eyes makeup look for a stronger vibe.
[I’m not used to heavy and dark makeup looks, but I guess I look okay.]
After Wonhee was satisfied with her look, she went out of her bedroom. "Ahyeonnie..."
Wonhee felt nervous when she saw her older sister marching towards her angrily. "Unnie..."
Yool and Song Moonho were also there when Wonhee only expected to see Graham and Ahyeon.
"Where do you think you’re going after what happened?" Semi scolded her. "Soobin called and he said he’s on the way. Your oppa stopped Kwon Jiwoong from coming over here to bring you to the Blue House for your safety. And it’s only because Soobin said you’re already moving into my house."
"Unnie, I understand that you’re worried. But I really need to go..."
"Hee-ya, do you not understand what’s happening?" Semi asked, obviously frustrated. "Someone just tried to kill you!"
"I know, Unnie," Wonhee said, her voice trembling a bit. "And it’s my first time seeing a real person burn to ashes right in front of me."
Everyone turned to Graham as if they were scolding him.
Graham avoided everyone’s gaze as if he was embarrassed. "It was an emergency– I gotta do what I gotta do as Chu Wonhee’s protector."
"Hee-ya, you better not be thinking that a person died because of you," Semi said firmly, gently grabbing Wonhee by the shoulders. "None of this was your fault. That bastard died because he deserves it for trying to kill an innocent person."
"Unnie, I’ll be honest: this incident scared me," Wonhee said carefully. "But it also opened my eyes and reminded me that I am blessed by the System for a reason. So, I want to do my job properly. I want to catch the people who are harming their fellow Awakened People when we should all be fighting dungeons and monsters. To do that, I have to keep the person I suspect the most close to me."
"Unnie, I’m no longer a child," Wonhee said as gently as possible. "I’m always grateful to Unnie and Oppa for protecting me. But I’m an adult now– I can make my own decisions."
It was Graham, but everyone just ignored him.
"Having said that, I understand that I’ve become an important person to our country," Wonhee said firmly. "That’s why I’m bringing Ahyeonnie with me, and I decided to talk to President Kwon to let him know that I accept his suggestion about me having an APA Hunter for a bodyguard. I know that President Kwon will use that person to keep an eye on me, but I can do the same and use that person to gain information from APA."
And, to be fair, she knew that APA would send Lee Seodam by her side.
[It’s awkward, yes. But if I want to keep Ruda Oppa closer to me, I also need Seodam Oppa by my side since the two are almost inseparable.]
"Hee-ya, you’ve matured."
Wonhee gasped when she turned to her side and saw the person who just called her ’Hee-ya.’
It was neither Semi nor Soobin.
Although Soobin was one of the two guests who arrived unexpectedly.
And her older brother came with the VIP that he had picked up at the airport before.
Wonhee ran towards the latter. "Grandpa!"
YEON SUK-YONG was the incumbent South Korean President when the Outbreak happened.
He woke up as an A-Class Hunter at the same time Yeon Soobin did.
Thanks to that, Korea didn’t totally collapse during the Outbreak.
But Yeon Suk-yong became too busy with raiding dungeons along with the Big 4 to rule as the president.
Moreover, his term came to an end during Year 2 of the Outbreak.
For a few years, before APA was established, Korea didn’t have an official president.
Big 4 was the law back then.
Only a year after APA helped the country stabilize did the citizens regain their right to vote for their president.
That was how Ma Yong-deuk, Kwon Jiwoong’s father, became the current president.
[President Ma’s term is ending soon, though. And he can’t be reelected since the law related to the elections didn’t change even after the Outbreak.]
[Grandpa remains an active A-Class Hunter ever since his awakening.]
"I’ve really missed you, Grandpa," Wonhee said while hugging her grandfather’s arm while the two of them sat in the backseat of the car. "Why were you in France for almost two months?"
Yes, she got to escape her older siblings’ grasp thanks to her grandfather.
[Soobin Oppa and Semi Unnie can’t say anything when Grandpa said he’ll accompany me to my audition~]
The taste of freedom was refreshing.
So, now, Ahyeon was driving them to A-LIST Entertainment– Park Ruda’s entertainment agency that would only accept Awakened People as artists.
The audition was taking place in A-LIST Entertainment’s famous luxury building.
"I owe that ice basta– I mean, that ice brat a huge favor, so I brought the Winter Guild’s elite team with me when Korea received an official SOS from France’s ace team," Grandpa Suk-yong explained. "I actually arrived first since it took me long to convince APA to send the Winter Guild kids to me as my reinforcement."
"You helped France with the dungeons?"
"That’s right," her grandfather said. "But it’s all a part of the ice brat’s ploy to protect the Winter Guild from APA. He still managed to devise a plan while he was on the verge of insanity, and that plan even involved me and France’s ace team."
"I heard Yejun was a good strategist, Grandpa. It seems true since you’re praising him a lot."
"Hee-ya, I don’t want Hwang Frost as a grandson-in-law."
"Grandpa, Yejun and I are just friends of the same age."
Her grandfather scoffed. "Keep it that way, dear– Hwang Frost is a dangerous young man."
Wonhee could only sigh and shake her head.
"Let’s stop talking about this," Grandpa Suk-yong said. "You need to memorize the script for your audition, right?"
[Of course, I called my agency and told them I would go to the audition before coming here.]
Hence, Miss Miyeon arranged everything for her.
The CEO contacted the people in charge of the audition right away.
After that, Miss Miyeon sent the script that Wonhee needed to act out during the audition along with the location of where it was taking place.
"Don’t worry, Grandpa," Wonhee said confidently. "I got this."
WHEN Wonhee arrived at A-LIST Entertainment’s posh-looking building, she was greeted by familiar faces.
First was Billie, her manager.
"Wonhee-ya, are you alright?" Lee Seodam asked worriedly. "Were you hurt?"
Like Wonhee expected, APA really sent Lee Seodam as her bodyguard.
"I’m okay, Oppa," Wonhee said. "Thank you for asking."
She thought it was okay to call Seodam casually since only Billie and Ahyeon were there with them.
[Grandpa volunteered to wait in the car because he didn’t want to be seen there.]
Apparently, her grandfather was hiding from APA because her grandfather was too lazy to give a formal report to President Kwon Jiwoong regarding his mission.
[Grandpa can really be immature sometimes.] Thᴇ link to the origɪn of this information rᴇsts ɪn novel(ꜰ)ire.net
"Wonhee-ya, don’t you think you’re being too careless?" Seodam asked in a scolding tone. "Someone just tried to kill you, and you still went to this audition? Why don’t you consider President Kwon’s suggestion and move to the APA Village?"
’APA Village’ was the newly constructed apartment complex for APA Hunters from B to S-Class.
[This one is said to be better than APA’s old accommodations.]
"Oppa, I’ve already decided to move into Semi Unnie’s place," Wonhee said. "I’m sure Unnie’s place is safer than the place APA is recommending."
"That’s true. Even so, it would be nice if we could stay in the same place."
During her three-year relationship with Seodam, she waited for her to move out of his family home and ask her to move in with him. She wanted to live together because ever since Seodam became a Hunter, he had been busier than when he had three part-time jobs before.
Yes, it was just her being clingy.
[If I was still the same Wonhee who craved Seodam Oppa’s attention, then I would have been thrilled to hear what he said.]
"Oppa, I understand that my life has now become more precious," Wonhee said, giving Seodam her business life. "Even so, I still don’t think I’d be comfortable living in the same space as you and Ruda Oppa."
Because she was pretty sure Ruda would be at the APA Village, too.
"Oh," Seodam said weakly as if he just realized that he was being tactless. "I’m sorry, Wonhee-ya."
Wonhee smiled and nodded. "As long as you understand where I’m coming from, Oppa."
